LEOMINSTER — Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts is holding an event this week to mark the relocation of its ReStore.
The public is invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted in partnership with the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce on Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. at 650 North Main St., the brand-new ReStore location. According to a press release, the move marks an exciting chapter for ReStore, the nonprofit home-improvement and donation center that helps fund Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts’ mission to build affordable homes, strengthen communities, and inspire hope throughout the region.
“Our ReStore is more than just a place to shop — it’s a place where every purchase and donation helps build homes for local families,” said Habitat for Humanity NCM Executive Director Carolyn Read. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone into our new space and celebrate this exciting milestone together.”
Guests attending the Thursday event will enjoy a variety of special activities and giveaways, including free reusable shopping bags for the first 100 guests, exclusive store deals and donation opportunities for a chance to win a ReStore gift card, and light refreshments. In addition, people will have the opportunity to participate in a ReColor Workshop, where they can learn how to chalk-paint furniture and enter a raffle to win chalk paint.
Habitat for Humanity NCM prides itself in offering a hand up, not a handout, to hardworking, low-income families in the region seeking affordable homeownership. Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, the nonprofit organization builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside homeowner partner families.
It also operates the Leominster ReStore, which raises funds through the sale of discounted or recycled materials and furniture to support Habitat’s mission of providing affordable housing. Donations of lumber and new and gently used building materials, home improvement items, furniture, tools, and appliances are accepted and can be dropped off or picked up, though there are specific guidelines on what’s accepted.
