LUNENBURG — No idea is too big or too small for the “Shark Tank” style business competition coming up next month that will serve as a skate park fundraiser.

People of all ages are invited to submit their ideas by the Dec. 15 deadline by visiting lunenburgskatepark.com/shark-tank-pitch, whether as a team of up to three or solo. The pitches must be at the most five minutes in length, appropriate for a professional setting, and if selected the innovators will be featured in the Central Massachusetts Shark Tank event on Sat., Jan. 17 in the Lunenburg Middle High School auditorium at 1079 Massachusetts Ave. beginning at 6 p.m.

Participation in the event is free and the competition itself that will benefit the Lunenburg Skate Park project will be open to the public for anyone who wants to cheer on participants and enjoy an evening of big ideas. Visual aids are allowed with pitches, the sharks may ask questions and provide suggestions for improvement, and each pitch will be followed by a Q & A session with the sharks and judged and funded by local businesses and banks.

“This fun, community-driven event gives participants the chance to present their best ideas for a good cause while supporting the future of the Lunenburg Skate Park and to get your idea out into the community,” said Lunenburg Skate Park Committee President Anthony Caiozzo. “Whether you’re pitching, judging, or cheering from the crowd, you won’t want to miss this night of innovation, laughs, and local spirit.”

According to Caiozzo, the exciting showcase will feature people of all backgrounds presenting their business or product ideas before a panel of local leaders, innovators, and investors. Whether it’s a new invention, a service concept, or a social enterprise, participants will have a chance to share their ideas, gain feedback, and inspire others.

“Our goal is to bring together students, professionals, and creative thinkers to celebrate innovation, problem-solving, and community spirit,” Caiozzo said. “It’s a chance for everyone — from young entrepreneurs to experienced business owners — to collaborate and show what’s possible when creativity meets opportunity.”

Caiozzo has been the skate park president since the community initiative’s inception over eight years ago. He and the youth committee members, which includes his son Griffin, have been meeting together to plan the fundraiser and other efforts to help bring the skate park to fruition.

“I have enjoyed our meetings, having fun and learning about how to plan an event like this,” said team member Matteo Comesana. “I really also enjoy being productive and becoming a driving force behind this event.”

Fellow team member Owen Hurley echoed his sentiments.

“I have learned many new techniques and skills throughout the event planning process and am really enjoying helping to get the skate park project closer to the finish line,” he said.

The Lunenburg Skate Park project is a grassroots effort spearheaded by local students and supported by residents, businesses, and civic organizations determined to create a safe, modern, and creative space for outdoor recreation. Designed by leading skate park professionals with input from local skaters the permanent, public concrete skate/BMX/scooter park located inside Marshall Park on land donated by the town and Lunenburg Parks Commission will feature diverse terrain for all skill levels and serve as a welcoming hub for activity and connection.

They are currently 93% of the way towards their $400,000 fundraising goal, meaning the finish line as well as the anticipated completion of the skate park this spring is in sight.
