ASHBURNHAM — As the holiday season approaches, many local shoppers are turning to neighborhood artisans and small businesses in search of unique, one-of-a-kind gifts, and thoughtful stocking stuffers.
New Dawn Arts Center is stepping up once again to host its 4th Annual Winter Art Market from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the center, located at 84 Main St.
“We’ve held this market as a part of the town’s Art and Culture day for the past four years,” said Abigail Abbott, New Dawn Arts Center Director. “It’s been really great to see how this event has grown and evolved, and we’re always excited to see all the wonderful vendors who come in to sell their arts and crafts.”
Visitors are encouraged to give themselves plenty of time to browse the marketplace and enjoy live music from Robbie B, performing in the center’s performance hall from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“This is the sort of unique experience a place like New Dawn has to offer,” Abbott said. “Where else can you listen to live music while you do your Christmas shopping?”
Ashburnham’s Arts and Culture Day extends beyond New Dawn to other related organizations in town.
Creative Connections Gift Shop and Gallery, located at 56 Main St., will host an artist reception for Joanne Holtje from 1 until 3 p.m.
The Frederick Collection of Historic Pianos, located at 30 Main St., will offer drop-in viewing hours from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
“The Stevens Memorial Library also has some lovely holiday programming for Arts and Culture Day that will be especially exciting for the children,” Abbott added. “They will have an ornament craft set up for anyone who wants to drop into their makerspace in the children’s library, and enjoy Santa Storytime from 10:30 until 11 a.m.”
Adults can get creative too, with a Winter Landscape Painting program from 10 until 11:30 a.m. and a Holiday Greenery Arrangement Workshop fundraiser with the Friends of the Stevens Memorial Library from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
“All of these events are taking place within a half-mile radius of each other,” Abbott said. “It makes it easy for visitors to experience any – or all – of the activities planned during Arts and Culture Day.”
