Cheng Peiming, a Falun Gong practitioner, endured years of persecution in China for his beliefs. He is now the sole known survivor of the Chinese regime’s forced organ harvesting campaign and currently resides in the United States. His escape in 2020 to the United States was made possible with the help of Robert Destro, the former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.

Cheng was arrested and sentenced to eight years in prison on November 16, 2004. Just three days later, he was taken to a hospital in Longnan, where he was forcibly tied to a bed. There, he was administered anesthesia and had tubes inserted into his body. He endured extreme pain and numbness near his left ribs. In 2006, Cheng managed to escape from the hospital but remained in China until his eventual flight to the U.S. in 2020.

Only after arriving in the United States did Cheng undergo comprehensive medical testing. The results confirmed his worst fears—parts of his liver and a section of his lung had been removed without his consent, evidence of the Chinese Communist Party’s horrific organ harvesting practices.

Cheng’s story is just one among countless cases of persecution faced by Falun Gong practitioners in China. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched its nationwide crackdown in July 1999, the repression has continued unabated. The CCP employs brutal tactics—torture, abuse, forced indoctrination, and even murder—to compel practitioners to renounce their faith. Among the most horrifying aspects of this persecution is the regime’s involvement in forced organ harvesting, using detained Falun Gong practitioners as unwilling organ donors to fuel a profit-driven transplant industry.

Practitioners are routinely harassed at work, in their homes, and in public. They are constantly monitored, followed, and subjected to surveillance. Many are forced to flee or go into hiding to escape detention. The "610 Office"—an extralegal body created specifically to oversee the persecution of Falun Gong—operates above the law, with unchecked authority to arrest, interrogate, and imprison practitioners.

To justify this campaign, the CCP has spread false propaganda and fabricated narratives about Falun Gong, manipulating public opinion and portraying the peaceful spiritual practice as dangerous or subversive. This disinformation and repression extends beyond China’s borders, influencing global media and social platforms in an effort to discredit Falun Gong in the United States and globally.

Why does the CCP seek to suppress Falun Gong?

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline rooted in ancient Chinese traditions that focuses on moral self-improvement with core the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. These values are fundamentally at odds with the Chinese Communist Party’s ideology, which is rooted in atheism and thrives on control, propaganda, and the suppression of independent thought. The CCP maintains its grip on society through fear, censorship, and manipulation of public opinion via state-controlled media.

In the 1990s, when the number of Falun Gong practitioners in China grew rapidly—outnumbering the Communist Party members—the CCP saw this as a threat to its ideological dominance. Fearing the influence of Falun Dafa that emphasized morality and traditional values, the regime launched a brutal persecution campaign in July 1999 to eradicate the practice. Despite relentless efforts, the CCP has failed to eliminate Falun Gong.

Even under severe persecution, practitioners across China continue to uphold their beliefs and work to expose the truth about the CCP’s abuses. Through leaflets, underground publications, digital channels, and face-to-face conversations, they courageously clarify the facts about Falun Gong and the regime’s injustices.

Their peaceful resistance is not only a testament to moral courage but also a shining example of nonviolent opposition to tyranny—a remarkable act of righteousness in today’s world.

A Battle Between Good and Evil

Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is one of the many cultivation ways rooted in the Buddha school of thought. Falun Dafa was passed on to a single disciple over the ages, and it was first introduced to the public in May 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. The practice combines gentle exercises and meditation with the study of moral teachings, allowing individuals to elevate their character, purify their minds and bodies, and gain insight into higher truths of the universe.

Mr. Li Hongzhi has systematically explained the universal law or truths through the main text, Zhuan Falun, and other teachings. These teachings guide practitioners to cultivate themselves and align with Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, while living within ordinary society.

Many religious and spiritual traditions hold that when a righteous dharma is spread in the world, it is inevitably met with resistance by evil forces. The CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa in China is seen in this light—an evil force that stands against righteousness. Practitioners, despite facing immense pressure, torture, and defamation, have responded with peaceful resistance, demonstrating a powerful moral stance that transcends humanness.

Importantly, Falun Dafa is not limited to China. Dafa is the universal dharma—the law of the universe that applies to all of humanity. Falun Dafa has been made public during these critical end times to offer salvation to humankind.
