At Lake Geneva, one of the largest lakes in Western Europe, lies the medieval town of Yvoire.
We're going to see, feel and taste it. Are you ready? Let's explore!
Before we start the last part of our road trip, we stay over in this lovely treehouse,
a highly recommended place. And off to Yvoire.
Yvoire is situated perfectly between the so-called large lake and small lake of Lake Geneva.
A great strategic point, which is why a lot of important fortifications were built here
in the 14th century. Later on, this village was kind of forgotten, becoming a village of
farmers and fishermen. Though the castle, ramparts and fortified gateways were not demolished.
That's why today, this town is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France.
In the middle of the old town, you will find the Five Senses garden,
where you can experience flowers and plants with all your senses.
Just behind the garden, the big eye-catcher of town is situated. Yvoire Castle, built in 1306.
At the end of the 16th century, however, a fire devastated the building. It wasn't until the 20th
century when renovation work took place, and the roof and watchtowers were built up again.
The castle is still owned by a family, not being opened for the public.
What's behind those thick walls is one of the mysteries of Yvoire.
On a hot day like this, a ride over Lake Geneva can give you some very nice wind in the hair.
Just look at the town from another perspective.
And this is a great place to end our road trip through France. I really hope that you enjoyed
