Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe presenter reviews and tastes the Cresswood Pepperoni Pizza Slices purchased from Aldi. Despite the affordable price and convenient air fryer preparation, the product fails to deliver on its promise of a cheesy, pepperoni-rich experience, resulting in a mediocre rating due to the lack of flavor and filling.
How's everyone doing out there? I hope you're all absolutely spot on.
Now I've been shopping to Aldi, come and have a look what I got.
Seen these in Aldi, no sister where I'm new. Suitable for the air fryer.
Cresswood. Two ready-to-eat puff pastry pepperoni pizza slices.
With sliced pepperoni and rich tomato sauce wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
The freezable, we've got a little traffic light system and that amounts per slice.
Used by 27th of September. Yes, I got these,
about a week ago and I forgot all about them. They were back in my fridge.
I think we'll be okay. We'll soon find out in a few days if I don't post any more videos.
We get pepperoni on pizzas, now we're getting it in pastry. Why?
Yeah, it might be okay. That's why we do it, because it's new.
It's a gimmick, isn't it? So the price, £1.65. We've got to try it.
We've got to try it, so let's take a closer look at the packaging.
I'll put my glasses on so I can sort of see what I'm doing.
I'm hoping that they're going to have cheese. It doesn't mention anything about cheese in them,
would you? You'd think they'd have cheese in with being pepperoni.
Anyway, we'll have a look. Puff pastry, let's go around the back.
We've got a GB stamp there, 300 grams. We've got some spiel, let's have a look.
Pepperoni, oh yes, mature cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese in a seasoned tomato sauce
and cased in puff pastry. So you do them in the oven, you can do them in the air fryer,
it's completely up to you. There's the ingredients. The allergens are in bold.
£1.65. We've got more nutritional information there, if you want to have a look at that and
pause it, by all means, go ahead. Any more info? Freezing, it says, we've covered that,
haven't we? Warning, to avoid danger of suffocation, keep this wrapper away
from babies and small children. Right, I might have covered everything,
so if I do miss anything out, I'll put it in the description of this video.
So let's get these open and see what we've got. In that description as well, for people on
mobiles, you can't really access it on televisions, I've put a link in there to other videos as well,
playlists, if you want to have a look, if you're new to the channel. So let's get into here.
Without scissors, I'm sure you can, yes. I've butchered it. We're in anyway.
Let's, yeah, it smells okay, nothing untoward coming out of there. They're only two days over,
they'll be all right. Yeah, that's what you get, look. So these are an ideal candidate for the
air fryer, that's where they're gonna go, so let's get them in there now. It says make sure they are
fully cooked and piping hot, or words to that effect. It's done, there it is. So I did it in
the air fryer, it says 180 in the oven, so I knocked it down 10 degrees, I did it on 170
for 11 minutes. I put it on for 12 and checked it after 10, and then I just give it a thermometer
in, just give it another blast for a minute, but it's, yeah, 90 degrees inside, so it's
thoroughly cooked and piping hot. But I'll get a knife and we'll chop it in half, we'll have a look
inside. It's gonna be warm today. Yeah, Tuesday, isn't it? Yeah, I was gonna go with the lines
then, getting suckered into the lines. I'll just cut it across that way and we'll have a look
inside. So £1.65, so that's 82 and a half pence each. I'll tell you what I'll do, if you can't
see like that, what I'll do, I'll just take this lid off and we'll have a look. It'll help it cool
down anyway, won't it? Let me take that lid off that side. Well, I'll tell you what, there it is,
that's what you get. I can see some oregano in there, oregano, basil. Where's your pepperoni?
Cheese? Yeah, don't get a lot, do you? Is that the pepperoni there, just little bits and bobs?
Smelling very tomatoey and herby. Yeah, herby goes bananas. Do you remember that film?
Yeah, that was an old one, that, wasn't it? There's the other side, there's the cheese in there.
Let's do a full autopsy. You need to know what you're getting for your money, not a lot. Yeah,
there's a bit of cheese, a bit of mozzarella by the look of it. Plenty of herbs, which I'm smelling,
pizza slices, pepperoni, there's a little bit there, look, a little bit of pepperoni. So what's
percentage of that? I don't think I read this percentage of pepperoni out. Seven percent,
yeah. Yeah, I'm expecting it, well, I was hoping to be cheesy, but looking at that,
there's not a lot of cheese in there and obviously a bit spicy with the pepperoni,
probably salty as well. Let's try it. Well, thanks for joining me at my table.
So on the front, I did notice that I didn't mention it when I was reviewing them. It says
ready to eat. I would imagine you'd be able to buy them then and eat them cold. Is that right?
Ready to eat? Yeah, must mean that, mustn't it? You can warm them up if you want to. Tell you
what, I won't use my knife and fork, but yeah, it's not a lot inside as we see. So let's see
what this tastes like. It tastes just like herby tomato sauce. What more can I say? The pastry is
lovely, it's puff pastry. I can taste the herbs and the tomato, can't taste any cheese whatsoever,
which is a shame. Pepperoni, there's little bits and bobs in there, isn't there? You're not going
to taste any of that. Yeah, that's my initial mouthful, mouth feel, whatever you want to call
it. Taste. Let's try again. Keep going. Basil, oregano and tomato sauce with the pastry.
It's a little bit rich, not a lot. It's salty. It's well seasoned. It's definitely edible,
that's for sure. It is. I was expecting more cheese. More cheese. It said mature cheddar.
I think it said mature cheddar. I'm quite sure it did. Yeah, mature cheddar cheese. None of that's
coming through whatsoever. I was expecting it to, when you bite into it, to be sort of
like you do a pizza. The cheese sort of runs, you know, the slices of it. It's like cheesy string.
I was expecting that, none of that. I suppose that's the price point it comes in at, 82 and a half pence.
I'm going to finish it, that's for sure. Myself, personally, I won't rush out to go and buy it
again. We have to try these things. The new Crestwood, established since 1990. 1990. Yeah,
cool, that was a year 1990. I was 18 in 1990. Was it Italia 90? It was, wasn't it? Remember that,
World Cup. Anyway, a blast from the past. I was working as an apprentice in the training school
in VSEL, Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineer Ltd. Working on the new Trident submarines at the time.
Anyway, definitely going down the old garden path with this one. So,
thanks for watching. Marks out of 10. I'm going to give them a very generous 5 out of 10.
And I wouldn't buy them again, but that's my personal, my personal opinion. That's all. We're
all different. You might like them. Right, take care. Oh, sorry. If you've got any recommendations,
I've got a community page on my front page of my YouTube channel. You can send us a picture and
send us a little message on there. If you find any new food, send them my way, please. Much
appreciated. And I will try and review them. I'll try and get hold of them and review them. It's
whether the supermarkets have got them. I hope the sun is shining on you. It's just coming out
it's been a bit cloudy. It's going to be warm. It's going to get to about 19 degrees today.
And 27 in London. So, I see on the weather. Anyway, take care. All the best. I've cooked
them both. I've got the other one over there. I was going to have it. I was going to have it later.
Yeah, it won't get wasted. I'll catch on the next one. All the best.
