What's going on here, Bell and Hopper TV, coming to you from Saskatoon, right here on
the South Saskatchewan River.
So today we are going to show you around Saskatoon.
It's currently 6pm.
Look at all these little babies.
There's just so many ducklings.
They're getting old.
Oh, oh.
They hiss.
If you get too close to their babies, rightfully so.
Anyways, little do they know I come in peace.
Anyway, what I was going to tell you was we are in what is called the Paris on the Prairie
because they've got like eight bridges that go across this river here.
So the population of Saskatoon is around 300,000 people.
I believe it's the second largest in Saskatchewan behind Regina.
This is pretty far up.
We're probably about as high up as Edmonton over to the west.
I think Edmonton is actually a little bit higher up.
But we're going to walk right down here onto, I believe it's 21st Street.
Alright.
Yep, this is 21st Street and Spadina Circle.
This little area that we're coming up to here.
Delta.
Bessborough.
I'll show you the building once we zoom out here.
It's actually a historical looking building right there.
You have Saskatoon refreshments and some British bus.
Looks kind of cool.
Got a nice restaurant there.
Saskatoon Club.
It's called The Cut.
A steak restaurant.
And this area here, Canada's Pub on Hudson's.
Oh, music.
Delta.
Bessborough.
It is a Sunday evening actually.
So, I have no idea what this place would look like on a Friday or Saturday night.
I'm imagining it gets a lot more pumping than this being that it's a Sunday evening.
But we're on 21st Street now and 4th Ave.
Headed towards an area known as Midtown.
Tomorrow I hope to go across the river.
They do have Uber here, which some of you might find to be useful information.
This is their downtown.
But they've got two sides to the river.
They actually call Saskatoon Paris on the Prairies.
Because it's known also as the City of Rivers.
I believe they have eight.
Or City of Bridges.
They go over the river.
Smokes Poutinerie.
Poutine is Canada's unique dish that no other country really has.
It's French fries, cheese curds, and gravy.
So there's Winston's Pub and Grill.
There's the clock tower.
Hotel Senator.
Bed and Breakfast.
And way down there they've got Wealth Management, BBC.
This is 3rd Ave.
Berks 1990.
Winston's Pub and Grill.
Number 5.
Alright, so we're going to check out the other side of downtown over here.
We're in front of the Wealth Management RBC building.
Going under one of the many bridges in town.
People live a very active lifestyle here in the summertime for sure.
Actually, the sun is kind of bright.
It's a bright sun.
Nice sun.
Happy sun.
But bright.
Over there is the University.
I found that out.
That's what that whole side is.
I also found out that the wintertime Saskatoon actually gets more people because of conferences.
So more visitors in the hotels in the wintertime than in the summer.
I definitely would not have assumed that.
But it makes sense.
I mean, why else would someone come to Saskatoon in the winter?
Except for work.
And the reason why I say why would they come here in the winter is because it's like negative 30 degrees.
Typically people don't go on vacation where it's negative 30 degrees.
Unless there's like northern lights I guess.
Or skiing.
But I don't think either of those two things are here.
I don't see any problems.
It's a nice little area of town though.
It's more modern here.
Okay, what do we got going on over here?
It looks like a splash pad.
Well, it looks like they got a splash pad up there for the kids.
Overflow water just kind of pours into the river here.
They got a museum up there I think.
Let's see if I can get there.
How's it going?
Yeah.
Let's go on up in here to the Rimai.
Saskatoon.
The splash pad.
Let's see what this Rimai Urban Museum is all about.
Alt Hotel by Le Germain.
Looks like this is the modern part of Saskatoon here.
Oh, I have to have a proof of vaccine to go in there.
We got State and Main Kitchen and Bar.
Good Earth Coffee House.
Right across the street is the TV building.
A little bit breezy here, huh?
This is the Midtown Common.
Toys R Us, they still have a Toys R Us? Oh my gosh.
Okay.
Back out onto the road here.
Alright, we've made it to 21st Street.
Alright, so we've got a Midtown here.
Canada Building.
House of Haka.
The wind is definitely happening today, huh?
Check out old Midtown.
Thank you.
So we're in a Midtown Mall.
I'm actually looking for a shoe store if they have it.
Some Nikes would be perfect right now.
Hudson Bay.
Alright, 21st Street here.
Got a Midtown.
Got a Midtown over there.
Let's see here.
Winston's Pub and Grill.
He's a pretty good singer.
Saskatoon kind of reminds me a bit of...
Let's see here.
A town that I did in Montana.
Not Billings, not Helena.
Maybe it was Helena.
That's kind of what it reminds me of.
You've got the Senator Hotel there.
This is 3rd Ave.
It's my first time here, so...
Alright, we're on 4th Ave.
And 21st Street.
It's actually about 7.15pm.
Not sure what the name of that hotel is.
Delta Bestor.
Bestoro.
There's Gut.
Casual Steak and Tap.
A bit more action going on down here on the riverfront, I would say.
Let's see if we can get across the road here.
Delta Bestoro.
Kiwanis Park.
Beautiful park, huh?
