As one of the best at his craft
Kevin Gossman makes his way to
the mound oftentimes this year
he has come out there following
a Blue Jays loss and has pitched
very well in his turn fortunes
around for the team and they
have started a mini win streak.
Gossman has not fared well
pitching against the twins in
his career.
Last time he faced him he beat
them in Minnesota but that was
his first win.
And here is Julianne a member
of Team Canada at the World
Baseball Classic.
A wicked hop off of BGO's bare
hand and Julian's going to dig
for two and he is in with what I
assume will be a double a bad
hop double nearly took the lips
off the first baseman runner at
second for the veteran Donovan
Solano and the three one pitch
is inside ball for some good
start.
Julian stays at second as
Solano draws a walk.
Twins have two on nobody out and
here comes Alex Girloff driven
to the right field corner and
that is down for a hit.
Julia Renner on third he's going
to score Solano will be held
Girloff with a double driving in
the game's first run.
Here come the twins right away.
Today it's one nothing still
nobody out in the opening inning
and let's see if we can build on
and put a cricket number up
there here with Correa up up a
second and third and nobody out
for Gossman.
We talk about a strike as he
could really use a strikeout now
and there's a walk that'll load
him up for learning and this
first inning not off to a
smooth start for the Blue Jay
right hander and now Larnach
Larnach he strikes out but also
he's patient he strikes out
draws walks seeing a ton of
pitches big chance here for
learning a drive to right field
Springer back off the base of
the wall two runs are going to
score Larnach held to a single
and a quick three nothing lead
for the twins the twins picking
up today where they left off in
the game yesterday.
And here's Royce Lewis the third
baseman the bullpen is depleted
late struggles yesterday now
early struggles today by
Gossman toward the hole a run
will score and Lewis will reach
with an infield hit one great at
bat after another here in the
first inning all of a sudden
that break that they've been
waiting for they got and now
they've taken advantage of it.
Marlin when he's on can pitch
very quick innings this would be
a nice inning for him to do that
to get Gossman back out there in
a hurry after a handful of
pitches.
And that's a base hit through
the left side terrific at bat
for Springer a chance to make up
for a slow start from Gossman
one down here in the first and
now Vlad Jr. twins by four in
the first inning and the old
one line drive right side that's
a base hit over the head of
Julian running second base
making third Springer as Taylor
gets it back in and there are
runners at first and third for
Toronto.
It's really important as the
Boucher score a run here to
answer those four runs in the
top half of the inning Chapman
has to cash in lines this one to
the opposite field going back to
catch it is Kepler and Springer
will easily tag it to come into
score.
Good contact on the sack fly for
Chapman.
We have seen the odd time where
this happens with Gossman on the
mound.
He does kind of persevere
through four or five innings but
the red flag for me is the fact
that they were on so many
pitches.
This team strikes out more than
anybody but they stayed on the
splitter a lot.
They might be picking up
something.
One on one out.
Donovan Solano now digs in
ground ball to short Bichette to
Merrifield to Bichette.
The second double play turned by
the Blue Jays in two innings.
Much more efficient in the
second.
You just know there's a gear in
there where he can escape one
away.
Now Correa as Gossman gets a
call that upsets Correa two down
two down now for Trevor Larnach
the two to swing and a miss
Larnach into the glove.
How about that.
Maybe Kevin Gossman has found
his groove and just like that
the Blue Jays have a tying run
coming up in Chapman two on two
out twins by three.
The O2 he struck him out
swinging eighty five down and
away Chapman flips the bat
tosses the helmet as Varlan
strikes him out Blue Jays don't
score lead to twins for Blue Jays
one Varshall Merrifield and Kirk
against Varlan.
I witnessed that he took a shot
right there and Christian Vasquez
is saying we need some help here.
Trey is going to come out hit
him on the forearm and you can
see his arm how exposed it is.
Oh man that hit him flush.
He got smoked.
I mean I can tell you from
experience that thing is going
to be sore and there will be a
delay here obviously because
somebody else is going to have
to put the gear on and hopefully
Hunter Wendelstedt is OK.
How the afternoon has gone for
Kevin Gossman all of the damage
and a lot of the pitches came in
the first inning.
You never had the feeling that
this game was out of control for
him.
It's been much calmer since.
Donovan Solano steps in high fly
to deep center field going back
as Varshall at the wall.
Oh God again just out of the
reach of Varshall once again.
I mean how many times can this
happen.
How many chances do you get to
Rob home run.
It's absolutely amazing.
More two out traffic after the
double Larnach gets the walk and
here comes John Schneider.
He's going to make the move.
He's going to lift the right
hander out of this ballgame
before completing five innings.
Right now Gossman sits on the
hook and there's traffic for
Thomas Hatch to contend with
with Larnach at first and Correa
at second base.
So Royce Lewis will bat and the
0 1 pitch line to short and
through base hit left center
field Correa running third.
He will try and score.
Varshall will go to third base
Lewis and RBI single he is seven
for his last seven and the twins
now have a six one lead and the
Blue Jays still have some time
here with five innings remaining
with their offense.
But this game the score is
slipping out of their grasp a
little bit.
That's exactly what the Blue Jays
need at this point in the game.
Base runners they're down five
need to start somewhere runners
on the corners one away and now
Guerrero two for two today.
Out to second Julian has it to
Correa on the first and it gets
coming to score and Guerrero
will take second what should
have been an inning ending
double play resulted a Blue Jay
run and a runner in scoring
position with two out that the
Jays need runs in bunches runner
at second Blue Jays now down
six to two Matt Chapman the
hitter they want a big swing
from this guy a majestic drive
just to the right of the Blue
Jays bullpen and the Blue Jays
little by little are starting to
crawl back into this game.
The Blue Jays needed a swing
like that to one with two out
here in this sixth inning.
It is a real threat as Kirov
steps in a car for a pitch.
Oh wow.
Hopkins is going to come in and
argues that when he was in the
box and the home plate umpire
calls him out for a pitch
violation.
He's got to be in the box
looking at the pitcher with eight
seconds left on the pitch clock.
That is absolute nonsense.
He's spot two with the twins in
position to get runs back back
to back singles to start here in
the eighth.
Blue Jays need a couple runs
here.
Mizzou in the box but a bunt
crosses the mind if nothing
else.
It sure does.
But a swing to another swing
that's the way you swing at a
two pitch a moment to save the
game for Jordan Romano two down
the tying run is 90 feet away.
Trevor Larnach the batter
fastball to finish the ball
game.
Romano picks up a big save and
the Blue Jays come back from a
five run deficit to win the
ballgame today.
