This trade is PERFECT for the Jets...
Sep 30, 2026
This trade is perfect for the Winnipeg Jets as today we talk about a viral three-team trade
that lands the Winnipeg Jets, Pavel Buznevich. In this video, we're going to break down the latest
Halibut updates that are leading. A lot of reporters believe there may be a three-team
trade incoming, so you're not going to miss this episode of Winnipeg Jets Digest. Before we dive
into everything here, I just want to say around the world for 2,000 subscribers before the season
starts. So if you're new here, you want to stay up to date on the latest news around the Winnipeg
Jets, we're home for it here on YouTube. So down below, hit that subscribe button. It's completely
free to do so. But yes, today we are talking about a very interesting situation that has the
Winnipeg Jets landing Pavel Buznevich in a three-team trade involving the Jets, the Blues,
and the Carolina Hurricanes. So before we dive into that, let's just talk about the latest
Halibut update, including the acquisition of Clay Stevenson and where that leaves the Jets
at this point. This is from Elliot Freeman from his preseason takes before the season starts.
So let's dive right into it here because these get very interesting. As he says,
the biggest question in the Halibut saga is does Clay Stevenson convince Winnipeg to ease their
desire to get another goalie in a trade? He says this is a huge opportunity for Stevenson,
who they claimed off waivers. Obviously, we still have UPL, another goaltender who block a trade
here, but he's mostly saying if Stevenson convinces Winnipeg, he's legit. That's a way to change
focus and ease the stalemate. And I agree with this here. I really think that having a guy like
Stevenson now within the organization, being the backup, a guy who's had a great last season at the
AHL level as well. I think this is a guy who's going to be, who kind of eases our mind for sure,
because before we were kind of like, is it Millich? Is it DiVincentis? Now it's locked in,
right? And I think the Winnipeg Jets are going to be fine with Swordskinner in it. I mean,
he's a starter in this league. There's no doubt about it. So now you can kind of switch gears to
saying, okay, we don't need to get, you know, a goaltender back in this trade. We don't need
a checkoff. We don't need, you know, a UPL or, you know, one of these players, but maybe we can
get a winger and a young player out of this to, you know, try to make our team a little bit better
offensively going into the season, which I think we really need a little bit of a spark for sure.
So these are some interesting things that had to come up about a potential three-team trade today.
So let's just dive right into it. This is again from Elliot Friedman. He said,
Hellebuck badly wants this to end. Players want to play. And this time of year, your body clock
is telling you to get off the couch. Obviously there was a three-team trade potentially with
Florida and the Jets and Ottawa, which involved the Kachuks and them landing Hellebuck as well,
which was interesting thing to learn about as well. He said Hellebuck widened his list more
than any other player with trade protection this summer. Basically anywhere he thought
he could win Buffalo was closest. I think Anaheim and Utah were among those that took a peek as well.
But the biggest challenge for Hellebuck is that the trade is bigger than him personally.
For the Jets, it's existential that they had to get this right. And I definitely agree with that
as well. So let's dive into this next report that talks about Carolina. It says,
Carolina is most motivated pursuer if Nkechian wanted to sign in Winnipeg.
Hellebuck would already be in Carolina if Nkechian wanted to sign here in Winnipeg,
but now they're kind of looking to see, shop Nkechian. Summer will pay him $9 million a year.
They say St. Louis has been a consistent pursuer and there are some who are surprised it hasn't
happened. Nashville tried, but it wasn't close enough to what Carolina wanted. The Hurricanes
were disappointed the Rangers trade didn't work out and made it clear they want to move Nkechian
at their own pace. They are motivated now. So we'll see if Nkechian, Nkechian is a talented player,
but has zero leverage under the CBA. So this is basically saying, you know, Nkechian had,
if he wanted to be in Winnipeg, this trade would have been done right now. And unfortunately,
that's not the way it went. And it would have been like a Nkechian for Hellebuck kind of deal,
which would have sent him to Winnipeg, but he didn't want to be here. So we don't want him,
right? So everybody now is kind of speculating online that the Blues want Nkechian, the
Hurricanes want Hellebuck, and we just need some time, something in return for Hellebuck at this
point. And I think a three-team trade could be in the mix where we get a nice player and prospect
from St. Louis and they get obviously Nkechian, Carolina gets Hellebuck, and everybody goes home
happy with this trade. So let's dive into it because this is a three-team trade that a user
on Twitter had. I do tweak it a little bit. So there is a second option. So stay tuned for that.
But this is what they had to say here. They said the Blues get Nkechian, Carolina gets Hellebuck,
the Jets get Boosnavich, Otto Stenberg, that's not either, and Carolina at 20, 27 second.
I see here I have a feeling that Winnipeg could want Dvorsky, but they just got Vigo Bjork. So
I just think this could work. Jets get Depp to help for now. And I definitely agree with that.
I mean, if we just take a look at Pavel Boosnavich before kind of diving into this trade,
he had 48 points last year, 20 goals, 28 assists. He's a guy who can come in immediately and play
on this second line with Arjong Starr and Vigo Bjork and Gabe Valerdi and really help out
offensively. I know last year was kind of a down year for Boosnavich and he's kind of looking for
a fresh start. I mean, there was times last year where the Blues did play him on a third and fourth
line, but I think Boosnavich is a great player in this league. He has a great shot and he's a guy
who like Hellebuck needs a fresh start, like Nkechian needs a fresh start. So you kind of get
three players in a trade here who all need a fresh start, which is great. I think in my opinion,
I think every team goes away happy with this trade. We get someone to help us offensively
going into the season where we kind of really need to throw it all at the wall and really hope
we get into the playoffs and make some noise there. And I just want to look at his career stats
because I know 48 points don't jump off the board at you, but this is a guy who scored 20 goals
like the last like six years or more, right? Like he had a 30 goal season and a 27 goal season,
just three season to go with 63 points, 57 points the season after. I mean, this guy
is a 50 point score and I think on the Winnipeg Jets, he could definitely be a back to his old
ways and being a 55 point score for our team going forward. Obviously he'll have more weapons
to do more damage here in Winnipeg. Also in this trade is Otto Stenberg, who is Ivar Stenberg's
older brother. He is drafted in 25th overall back in 2023. He played with the Springville
Thunderbirds last year in 36 games. He had 17 points. He played 32 games in St. Louis last
year as well, where he had 10 points, three goals, seven assists. I think this guy would be a great,
you know, kind of a HL piece for us going forward. I do think having a guy like this,
who's ready to step up if injuries do occur as you know, our third and fourth line center are
getting a bit older and injuries are more often to occur there. I think getting a guy like Otto
Stenberg, who is NHL ready and ready to jump up at any opportunity will be a great piece to return
as well. Obviously you're getting a second round pick that you can flip here at the deadline,
try to, you know, fill the holes that your lineup does have, but looking at the lineup with
Boosnavich in it, I mean, I kind of really like it to be honest with you. I like Boosnavich with
Bjork and Velardy. I really do think this line would be great. I think obviously Boosnavich
is a piece that you could add on the power play or on the power play two unit as well.
He's just such a great offensive player, offensively gifted talent, and a guy who I think
has flown under the radar in the NHL for a very long time. All fantasy hockey players know how
good Boosnavich is if you have him on your team. This guy is a great player. He can score goals,
he can get assists, he can get it done all over the ice. A great, two wonderful players as well.
I just think he'd be a great fit here in this kind of aging roster, which is Winnipeg with a few
younger pieces that we do have here now. I really like this trade to be honest with you. I know a
lot of you guys are probably saying, hey, this isn't what we want, this isn't the return we want,
but at this point, I know a lot of you guys don't agree with me in the comment section, it's like,
you got to take what you can get. Hellebuck's trade value is going down and down and down
every single day that he is not traded, so getting a guy like Boosnavich back in return,
I think is something I would jump at immediately, for sure. We could force Connor Hellebuck into
retirement, we could make him sit for the next five years and not get paid. He's under contract
with us, we could let this happen, but why not just give him away, let him go where he wants,
and just get something back in return for him here. This is why the second trade option,
I think you guys will like. It does involve Boosnavich again, but it involves a very,
very good prospect. So let's dive into it, because I really like, this is my trade prediction,
Hellebuck goes to Carolina, obviously, Nikishin goes to St. Louis, Winnipeg receives Boosnavich,
Justin Carbineau and a Carolina first. This is what I really like. I think, obviously,
you get back Boosnavich, a guy that can help us now. Justin Carbineau is a guy who's going to
start the year in the AHL, we're going to talk about him in just a bit, but he is a phenomenal
talent in this, you know, a phenomenal prospect coming in to his first touch as a pro hockey,
and we get a first round pick back in return for this. I think if Carolina's pick is upgraded to a
first, I think this trade goes through. I think Kevin Shalodayov at some point needs to kind of
be like, okay, we need to make a trade happen. If we get a first round pick back, it would be
perfect because we can flip this, add something, you know, that we need to this roster. Maybe not
now that we got Figo Bjork, but maybe we could add, you know, a right shot defense or something
like this, right? So I think I really do like this trade personally. I do like the prospect
we're getting back in return here, and that's why I like it the most. And that's Justin Carbineau.
This is a guy who I have personally seen with my own eyes in real life, watching some QMJHL games
in Newfoundland. I've seen this guy play and he's a tremendous talent. He has a crazy shot,
one of the best shots I've ever seen personally with my own eyes. This guy is a great talent,
a great right winger going in for the future, playing his first year with the Thunderbirds.
He had 80 points, 51 goals last year in the QMJHL. Then he had 20 points in 17 playoff games
with 9 goals and 11 assists. This guy is one of the most underrated prospects that the NHL has
to offer right now, and I think the Winnipeg Jets could really benefit from that because this trade
I'd say it's still pretty high, and that's why it would kind of meet the Connor Hellebuyck price
for Kevin Shebble Dayoff. But this is a right winger that we can have for the future with an
aging roster, getting a 19-year-old right winger who had 51 goals at the junior level.
Play him on the Manitoba Moose this year, and if he shows out, you don't even call him up,
right? So I really like this trade personally. Again, Boos Navich plays with Vigo Bjork and
he gets his point totals up, and he gets a fresh start here in Winnipeg. But I really love this
trade. His $8 million price tag isn't so bad with the cap rising as well, so I like it.
I want to hear what you guys think down below. Do you think I'm out to lunch on this trade
prediction? Do you like getting Justin Carbono in return? Because I think that is really the
key piece for me that would make me want to accept this trade, is getting such a high-tier prospect
like Carbono to our organization. So let me know what you guys think down below in the
comment section. While you're down there, leave a like, subscribe to the channel. As always,
I've been your host, KC. Keep your stick on the ice.
