Ant and Melo turned into the Splash Brothers 2.0.
AJ DeBonza pumped up the fans in DC.
and the OKC rookies continue
to impress they played with a
plan on the offensive end of the
plan there was the alley-oop for Morris set up
by Sturtz you sure those two guys haven't played
together man that's a nice connection that we're starting
to see between Sturtz and Morris. But we
gotta start in New York where the Wolves lit up MSG.
Brought him in to run the point so they didn't
have to force Anthony Edwards to do so and look
at him connect there for an early long two. Yeah so
they work on that especially this guy.
McDaniels a major step up last year averaged a career high
16 points a game. Mike Brown said we might see more
of that from his wing stoppers Bridges and
Melo drains the three in front of the Knicks bench
and then mocks them afterwards, but
the real damage early on was done by the Ant-Man.
Edwards got hot in a blink of an eye,
putting the Wolves up by 9 points.
Just look at how easy he handles one
of the best on-ball defenders in Josh Hart.
Speaking
of defense,
check this out.
completely shut down McBride before poking the ball
and passing it to Bones in the open
lane.
He's
scary
good
so far.
Bang bang, Edwards nails
the half court runner putting the Wolves up by 12.
had a near perfect first half scoring 20 points
on 4 of 6 shooting from downtown. Ant and Mello
are shooting a rock solid 50% from 3 point range
in their 3 preseason games so far. And considering
the fact that they both were in the top 12
in attempted 3s last season, it's safe to say that
we have the new Splash Brothers in Minnesota.
Ant's 26 points and Mello's 7 dimes were enough
to inflict the third loss in a row for the Knicks.
On the contrary, the OKC rookies balled out for
the third straight game.
Ajay Moore and Ben Sturds
put on a show once again
for the Thunder.
The team with the best record
in the league just got upgraded with the 12th and the 16th
overall picks in this year's draft, and they're both looking great.
In three games thus far,
the 7-3 giant from Spain is averaging 17 points, 8 rebounds,
3 assists and 2.5 blocks on a blistering 79% shooting from the field.
And the 23-year-old sharpshooter is posting 20 points
and 4 assists per night on a sizzling
59% from long range and 58% from the field.
That's elite coming from the young duo.
Meanwhile, this play by Nikhil Alexander-Walker
was nothing short of spectacular.
A 360 pass before relocating to the corner for the splash is wild.
The presence of mind was through the roof on that one.
And one guy that can jump through the roof is Ja Morant.
It's nice to see Ja having fun out there
on the court again.
What impressed me the most
however was his defense and passing last night.
He had 3 steals and 5 dimes,
2 of which were these flashy no looks to Donovan Clingan
and to Monty Camara for 2 of the easiest points of the night.
Moving on to DC where AJ DeBontza showed off his bounce.
his hands on it. Wizards on the run.
A.J. off the feed from Keyshawn George. And that's what it
looks like when you're rewarded by defending, rebounding, and running.
Oh, A.J. cleaning up
on aisle four. Stay with it, bro.
He is absolutely dynamic.
A.J. now in double figures with 10.
And he gets the steal. Free and clear for takeoff.
The number one pick in the draft was flying high
all game long and even got MPJ in disbelief.
DeBontza scored 10 of his 14 points in the third
quarter, getting the Wizards fans excited.
And on a totally random free throw, this is the most
excited I've seen DeAndre Ayton be.
Come on Dre, focus on what actually matters for once.
Dre Young, on the other hand,
was focused on getting his teammates involved.
Wow, Trey throws a half court
lob right on target after
almost falling out of bounds.
Young had a near triple double of 11 points 11 times
and 8 turnovers unfortunately, while
also being down minus 16 in 27 minutes of action.
Regardless, MPJ and Randall had
the last laugh, combining
for 36 points on 62% efficiency
in the Nets win
at the end.
And in the absence of Victor Wembanyama,
the Jazz feasted inside the paint.
Ooh, I didn't know Lowry had the windmill dunk in his bag.
But I've seen Triple J do this over and over again.
Damn, he broke Cornette's ankles
a few times before detonating the poster jam on his head.
That was nasty.
And so was this alley-oop for Hayes.
The Jazz were running circles around the Spurs last night,
having 7 guys scoring in double digits.
They have a deep roster this season, and for the
first time in 5 years, they're expected
to play some meaningful basketball and aim
for the playoffs. And one team that's going
to try to move past the Jazz are the Mavs
who looked really good against the Rockets two days ago
in China with Kyrie Irving finally
back
on
the
floor.
Irving posted 17 points and 3 assists in his debut.
Let me know in the comments if he
and Cooper Flagg can put Dallas in the mix for the play-in
tournament in the Wild West.
And speaking of that, back in 2008, the West had 8 teams with
50 plus wins, with the Suns and the Hornets being two of them.
Steve Nash and Chris Paul's games
were must-see TV every time they met,
and I broke down their iconic duel of that era right here in
this video. So check it out and talk to you in the next one. Peace out.
