The solution is presenting itself loud and clear. While we're thinking about players to sign to fill
the Wizards final roster spot with names like Anthony Gill or Russell Westbrook, Aaron Holiday,
and so many more showing up, a recent article dives into trades that Washington is well positioned to
make to land that final piece, including one in particular that lands a player that fits exactly
the bill that Washington is reportedly looking for. We're going to dive into this very interesting
trade opportunity, but also a little note on one of the young guards, Trey Johnson,
as he is poised for a breakout, but it's gotten to a point where fans genuinely think he might
be underrated. We're going to dive into all of that coming up on this episode, and hey,
thank you for tuning in every single day. Don't you forget we are here every day for all the
latest Wizards content, and we're not planning on stopping anytime soon. Every single day for all
the latest news, rumors, reports, and excitement, this is the spot to be, and let's start by hyping
up our boy Trey Johnson, because you can see here from Yahoo, they had an article saying,
look, is it fair to say that Trey Johnson's being kind of underrated by the Wizards fan base? And I
want you to answer this down below. Do you think the Wizards fan base is underrating Trey Johnson?
Because Nick, I don't think we are here. I think he has been kind of a focal point for a lot of
this offseason. Sure, he hasn't been the main focus, of course, with Summer League and a lot
of moves coming on, but he's a guy that I really think is poised for a breakout year, and Sergio
continues in the article, look, the injuries changed everything. After the injuries and the
inevitable rookie wall last year, his really solid numbers dropped to only about 11 points per game
on pretty poor efficiency. But overall, he's poised for something big. Do you think that
maybe some people are underrating just how good he could be this coming year?
Yeah, we definitely aren't even pretty high on him, but some Wizards fans, I'm sure, I think
it's mainly or most or rather the NBA that might be underrating him just in general, along with
the rest of the Wizards team, because he had a very good year last year, is one of the young
players. And again, we keep talking about, I mean, with that crazy win model that had them at, you
know, 30 or 20 wins. I think a lot of it doesn't account for the potential progression of a lot of
these guys, and Trey Johnson's right in the middle of it. You can look 35% from three. I think that
can go up next year, 88% from the free throw line, which can be somewhat of an indicator of
shooting success. But yeah, we're definitely not in the channel for some fans are, but I don't
think it's because they don't like Trey Johnson. I think it's just because there's so many young
players that you have to account for that eventually you're going to miss somebody. And
I mean, between him, Bilal Kulov, I mean, there's so many, I don't even want to say them all,
because I'm going to definitely miss a couple. They're in a very, very good position to have a
really good year, and Trey Johnson is going to be at the center of it.
Yeah. And one of the big indicators too, yeah, free throws can be a good indicator,
you're right. But also like the fact that among, you know, a lot of players in the NBA,
he's straight up as one of the best mid-range shooters. Pretty crazy for a guy this young.
That's not a skill that you usually see from a guy like this. Now, we can just ignore his
finishing numbers for now. You know, that definitely is maybe more of a concern in
terms of the long-term versatility of his scoring profile. So, you know, until we get to the point
where Trey Johnson's asked to be kind of an on-ball scorer all the time, yeah, then we'll
want that, those rim numbers to go up. But right now, his corner three, his mid-range, and not to
mention his above the break threes were like, he took a decent amount off the dribble as well.
You'd see him sizing up defenders, taking these moving, fading threes. It's kind of his thing too,
and he shoots from very deep. So I don't see it to be too much of a problem. And again,
just to circle back to this number, Nick, after his injury, his three-point percentage went down
to only 29% and he was much up closer, well above 35% before that. So I think he's also poised with
a guy like Trey Young, a guy we've talked about a lot early this season to get off to a hot start
and hopefully keep that momentum and he can stay healthy. Yeah. And obviously you mentioned the
injury. We'll have to see how it is. Everyone's going to be fresh. Everyone's going to be in
different roles. So if you start off cold, I don't think it's the end of the world. I think
it's more important to actually go out and just see how the whole team plays as a kind of totality
rather than just one individual player. But at the end of the day, he is as positioned as any
kind of potentially steal a starting spot. Obviously, it's going to be tough with a lot
of the names they brought in and continue to remain. We'll see. Again, you look at the way
the depth chart is, it's interesting. Obviously, I have Keyshawn George there. Will he steal from
him? Not at the start. I highly, highly doubt it. But you never know with the way that people play
and things can change very quickly. And that's why it's kind of hard to make a depth chart outside of
the four kind of key guys to that number two spot. It might be fluid, though. I think for now,
Keyshawn got it. Yeah, I think so. Probably start in the season. But like training camp can change
a lot. I don't know, man. He's just he's one of my favorite players to watch. Like and I'm sure
Devon is going to shoot his way up that list. But in terms of wizards that I'd like to just
they're kind of aesthetically pleasing when they're on there. Like to me, there's not much
better than the Trey Johnson contestant three. Like I love it. So anyway, leave some thoughts
on Trey Johnson down below as we're going to dive into very interesting trade. Now,
a lot of very interesting stuff here. Look, we know the sign assigning is the path of least
resistance here, especially if you're just looking for someone to maybe not play a ton
of minutes and whatever, because we know the reports have indicated the wizards are looking
for a point guard. How many times have we said it? We probably said it so many times that you're
upset that we're saying it again. But one of the trades that Bryson outlined involves a guard
coming to the wizards, and that's Chris Dunn. And I found this interesting. This was number two on
his list of five players that was the target in the trade and basically said, because, look,
Dunn's on the older side. It'd be wise for his current team to move off of him for draft capital.
He can facilitate. He's a good shooter. He won't be a liability on defense. So getting him for two
seconds would be a great addition and cap off the Wizards offseason. And I don't hate this move.
I think a lot of these moves that maybe we're thinking about, if they can involve a couple
second round picks, you kind of sacrifice that and you're like, OK, that's OK. We're getting a
veteran talent that kind of fits what you're looking for. And while Chris Dunn is like, it's
weird for me to think of him on the older side, I still think of him as this like, you know,
high prospect. It's weird, even though he's in his 30s. That's just my perspective of time.
But the Dune shot 38 percent from three this year, Nick. Twenty seven minutes a game. Look,
he's not going to score a ton, but he's always historically been a very solid defender. And
while this past year was his highest three point percentage back since twenty two, twenty three,
which even then was a very small sample and throughout most of his career, he hasn't exactly
been lights out from three. He's learned to shoot a bit better as the years have gone on,
actually posting his highest minutes per game this year since 2019. So I don't know. What do
you think about a guy like Chris Dunn? We love the comments down below as well, because if we're
looking for just a guy to come in, slot in, shoot the three of it, play some defense, be a bit of a
nice veteran presence for our guys. I actually really don't mind this idea. Yeah, you can also
see in twenty seven minutes average over a steal and a half a game, I think are pretty close that
he was always known as a very, very good defender. And at the end of the day, he is a very he's a
veteran, which is kind of crazy to say at this point, but he's known for his defense. If he could
be a three and D kind of guy that can obviously facilitate as well forces a game and under 30
minutes, I think it makes a ton of sense. It would be somebody who also doesn't require a lot of
minutes at this point of his career. He's kind of between, you know, maybe playing a bunch and not
depending on the year, depending on the team he's on. So it makes a ton of sense, very versatile
defensively. But most importantly, I think adding some more defense to this team definitely can't
hurt on the perimeter side of things. You obviously have to account for Trae Young a little bit. You
have to account for maybe the uncertainty of Ajay Devonsa that we think he's going to be very,
very good defensively. So I like it. Yeah, I like it, too. I just I don't know. Like the question
is, would he ever be available? And that's kind of always the question with a lot of these guys.
But one thing I know is that GMs and front office members, they're always looking out there for
these trades that might not be at the top of mind. Sure, there's often those big names like,
oh, this guy got waived. He's going to sign here or there. But there's a lot of times, too,
when these sneaky under the radar moves can happen. So we'd love to hear your thoughts on this down
below. Do you think this could be an interesting target or if not, Chris Dunn, who's a sneaky
target around the NBA that you would love to have on the Wizards that wouldn't be a free agency
signing? Because we might be diving into a few here as the week goes along. And we'd love to
hear your thoughts as well. But that will do it for this episode. Thank you for tuning in every
single day. Don't you forget it. I'm Josh Goss. Frank O's Nick Goss. We'll catch you all in the
