Westminster Abbey contains over three thousand graves, including those of thirty kings and queens. Visitors walk across every single one of them, except one. The grave of the Unknown Warrior, an unidentified soldier brought from the battlefields of France in November 1920, is the only tombstone in the Abbey that no one is permitted to step on. This is the story of how a haunted army chaplain, a reluctant king, and a midnight selection in a candlelit chapel created the most visited war grave in the world.
