Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video discusses the early impact of newly acquired player Quentin Grimes on the Los Angeles Lakers. Head coach J.J. Redick praises Grimes' defensive commitment and his ability to complement stars like Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, suggesting he is a strong candidate for the starting lineup as the team prepares for the regular season.
The Lakers will never be the same as one of the newest additions
on the team is looking to make a major impact right out the gate
and is getting recognized as being one
of the most valuable players already on this team.
And welcome to Lakers Digest.
My name is Hunter Pitkoff, where we cover everything surrounding

And while the Lakers had a tough second game of the preseason
after having a really impressive first game of the preseason action,
there's been one player in particular
who's really been making his mark here
for the Los Angeles Lakers and getting recognized.
The P's and Q's, as I'll call it.
And that is going to be newly acquired player Quinton Rimes.
And so this is what J.J. Redick had to say about Quentin Grimes here.
As he said, this was after the game against Golden State.
So this is a game that Lakers didn't really quite
do as well in as they got smoked by the Warriors, saying,
quote, I think he's a guy that, if needed, can create some advantages.
And for that, second-side action can finish advantages offensively.
I think his commitment to the defensive end has
been really good throughout camp.
And in the first two games, we are excited about him.
And so, obviously, with the high remarks J.J. Redick has
for Quentin Grimes, this is somebody
who he believes can be a very important part of this team.
And while Quentin Grimes said they carry a lot of the workload here
on Tuesday, there's a chance he might have to here on Thursday.
Guys like Austin Reeves and Walker Kessler
have yet to play in the preseason.
We'll see if Luka plays in this one against the Sacramento Kings.
We'll see if the Lakers can take down
the Kings for a Kings ransom yet again.
If you're interested in seeing what the market's looking like on Cowsu,
which is the sponsor of today's video,
right now the Lakers have a 67% chance to win against the Kings
according to the Cowsu market here.
And on Cowsu, you're trading directly against other users
and not the house like traditional sportsbooks.
In other words, you're buying yes-to-no contracts
on the events across sports.
It can be politics, weather, or you're a Lakers.
And here are, like I said, the market was looking like right now.
And so before getting under 24 hours until tip-off,
If you're interested in trying out Couchy, it's super easy.
And let's say you want to go on Couchy, you don't have to do the math,
but you can place some money down,
and if the Lakers win, you can win too.
So if you're interested in trying out Couchy, it's super simple.

But also what J.J. Redick had to say here about Quinton Grimesy
as well to stay a little bit on topic.
This was talking about him and Luka together in particular.
So we did not see that against the Golden State Warriors,
but we did see that in the game against
the Sacramento Kings the first time around.
He said, they looked good together last night.
I thought Quinton and Luka was off the floor,
gave us a nice little pop offensively,
did a good job of being near the basketball as well.
I feel like Quinton is a really nice compliment to Luka and AR.
He's obviously got the experience of playing
with Luka prior in Dallas, I think.
In all our team building,
it was about finding guys who complement Luka and AR.
And we feel we did that.
So that was the whole point of JJ Redick, right?
He talked about how this season,
it was really all about finding the right pieces.
And he even said that this is the best well put together roster
that the skill set matches
the best more than any other team he's coached so far.
in his, I guess, relatively short coaching career here with the Lakers.
That does say a lot, and a lot of people thought that was a diss.
J.J. read it to LeBron. J.J. was like, no, that's not the case.
It's just, look, the Lakers were able to start from scratch this season
with this new roster.
And look at what, again, what Peyton Grimes was able to do
his first two games here.
So this was against the Golden State Warriors here.
Again, 23 minutes, 12 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal,
3 of 8 from the field, 2 of 6 from the field, 3 of 4, 5 from the line.
But I also thought, in particular,
he might have been even better against the Sacramento Kings here.
Which, I don't know exactly.
Am I tripping?
Did I lose my lady's on me?
No, that's annoying.
I will, on the fly here,
read you Quentin Grimes' stats against the Sacramento Kings.
That is a little glitch in the system we had here.
The point is, he's been
playing pretty well.
Let's just keep it above.
uh Clayton Grimes has you know I think compared
to all the other players that the Lakers have
gotten because right now uh you know what
this actually uh might be a good time to go to our
next little uh chapter we have here there we go
um round out the five right and I'll talk about
that center position of Lakers probably can get
a little bit better at that I am talking about in
particular about what the Lakers can do um in terms of uh
who's going to be starting right
Because we've seen Austin Reeves, Luka Doncic, Walker Kessler,
they've already been named the starters for the Lakers.
And right now here on Digest Media,
this is what our computer is kind of projecting
what that starting lineup may look like
and what the rotation may look like.
But on top of that as well,
those two starting spots are up for grabs, right?
Luka, AR, Walker, we know they're going to start.
Who's going to be the other two guys?
In my opinion, Quentin Grimes, I think just makes the most sense
based on this current roster construction, right?
J.J. and Rob Palenka, for one,
have tried to get guys in here that can dribble, pass, and shoot.
Finn Grimes, I think of all the non-Luka
or Austin players on this roster,
he is the next best player at doing that.
He also could be a really good defensive player as well,
which is definitely exciting.
And for a player that can play both ends
of the floor at the level he does,
and based on the current roster construction of the Lakers,
I think he makes the most sense.
So while he does slide in at that three spot,
the small forward spot on offense,
defensively, he's going to be a bit more
of like a one through three kind of guy.
And so Luka's going to be more of like a forward.
So it makes sense on both ends of the court
why someone like Quentin Grimes can take that starting spot.
The other ones I think are going to be pretty interesting as well.
We saw in the first preseason game,
Matisse Thibel and Zyra Williams both started alongside Quentin Grimes
and Kevon Looney and Luka Doncic.
And Looney's not going to start.
But maybe it's going to come down to one of those two guys.
We saw Jake Laravia get the start in the second game.
So I think one of those three guys, Jake, Zaire,
or Matisse, are going to be the other starter.
I don't think it's going to be Matisse-Bible,
if I'm being completely honest.
I don't know if he's physically capable of playing that many minutes.
But Zaire Williams or Jake Laravia,
I went into this thinking Jake was going to be the frontrunner,
mainly just because he's getting paid more money in Zaire Williams.
That stuff does matter, guys.
And he already has a year under J.J. Redick in this system.
But I think it might have to be Zaire Williams.
And actually, a big reason why happens to do with,
ironically, Quentin Grimes.
Because I thought Quentin Grimes was going to be the guy
who's going to be the primary point of attack defender on guard.
And we saw against the Sacramento Kings and Darius Acuff,
that guy was actually Zaire Williams.
And that was with Quentin Grimes and Matisse Thibault in the rotation.
So I think Zaire might actually be the frontrunner right now
to go get one of those starting spots for the Lakers with Clint Grimes,
Austin Reeves, Luka Doncic, and Walker Kessler.
Again, that's not a report,
kind of just a hunch based on what I'm seeing out here.
And hopefully, I hope this works.
I'm going to pull up the schedule real quick.
Alright, so we do have our schedule here.
So this did work, which is pretty nice.
So we got a nice little calendar view here for the rest of October.
So, Sacramento Kings, Thursday night, that will be a game we'll
be covering here, as well as the Warriors and the Nuggets,
that is going to round out the preseason, and then Wednesday night
on the 21st is the start of the regular season, as the Lakers are going
to be playing the Warriors four times this month, which is pretty wild.
Then you've got the Clippers, Jazz, Blazers,
Clippers again, and then Golden State Warriors,
you guessed it, again, the night before Halloween.
But to keep up with everything surrounding your Lakers, guys,
whether it be different rumors, reports, breaking news,
different signings, trades, and of course, preseason action leading
up now two weeks away from the start of the regular season.
