Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe creator returns to the PAX Squads series to complete the American and National League collections. After a dominant ranked game and successful challenge completions, they unlock elite rewards, including 99-overall cards for Albert Pujols and Troy Tulowitzki. The video also serves as a channel update, addressing burnout and a strategic shift toward short-form content and diverse gaming.
Oh, how you guys doing?
Welcome back to PAX Squads.
And I know it's been a while, so here's a quick update.
We are just Byron Buxton away from finishing the American League
for Anibal Sanchez and Felix Hernandez.
We are just Tarek Skubul away from finishing the National League
for Roy Campanella and Albert Pujols.
Once we unlock those two cards, we will finally have Troy Tolowitzki,
and this will be the first time in PAX Squads history
that we complete the collections.
Why haven't I uploaded a video in a month?
Life, career, and channel update all coming at the end of this video.
Let's do PAX Squads.
If you're new to PAX Squads, the rules are in the description box down below.
It's a simple series.
Think fantasy baseball.
We're going to jump into a ranked seasons game.
Everything we do in that game, we get points for.
We're going to trade those points in for PAX at the end of the episode,
and that's how we make upgrades to the team.
Today's lineup will be Pete Crow Armstrong,
Sean Figgins, Quetel Marte, Andrew Jones,
Shohei Otani, Eli De La Cruz, Matt Olsen, Jose Ramirez, and Jorge Posada.
We have a challenge wheel we're going to spin.
If we complete this challenge in the game,
we get to unlock a collection or program reward player.
Today's challenge is to strike out the side.
We're going to have a chance to do that with 94.
Chris Sale, who's going to be on the mound,
looking to go parallel five, the all-star series card.
Get three strikeouts in a row.
We'll get our collection completion.
Bullpen is mostly full energy, so we're hanging out good here.
We have 50 standards, two vault packs, and over 120,000 stubs to spend.
It's time to play ranked seasons.
Go use code Shelfie at SeatGeek.
Baseball season's ending,
but basketball, hockey, and football season are here.
That's year-round.
Here we go on the road against Dontrell Willis.
All right, he's got our Pete Crow Armstrong plugged in the lineup.
A couple home run derby X cards.
Been a while.
We literally, this is the longest I've gone without playing ranked in 10 years.
And first pit swinging.
We're going to ground out the second.
Look at me not taking a pitch.
Right back at it.
And he throws a change-up right out over the plate.
I was looking slider.
It was off the end of the bat.
Got that elevated just enough.
We're going to be in another two-strike count.
Just missed that heater.
Oh, ew.
Bastler putter.
We were way out in front.
Jeez.
Oh, boy.
Fastball right down the middle.
Schmo to first base.
Yep, beautiful spot.
Way too much played again,
but three up, three down very quickly for Chris Sale on five pitches.
Andrew Jones spanked.
All right, he likes that fastball away to the righties.
We can't chase off the plate,
but there's a lead-off knot.
Good jump.
Get there, get there, get there.
Andrew Jones will steal second base.
There's a point.
Get down, get down, get down.
Yes, sir.
Andrew Jones takes third.
You just keep extending that lead and go.
I knew he was throwing.
Spanked.
Perfect, perfect out to left for Ellie.
That Ellie has been in our lineup all year,
and he keeps coming through.
It'll be an RBI double.
A three-point swing in the lead.
Get through, get through.
It dropped down under the PCI.
I jammed myself.
What are we doing?
Be early.
We strand two.
We leave one in scoring position,
but we do score one.
I feel the rust.
It's bad.
Whoa.
No way he still got there, Chris.
He took one off the head.
Still almost made the play.
Good slider strike three.
Good take.
And he takes off for second.
Throw him out.
I didn't get the perfect throw,
and it was fully wide.
Good slider for strike three.
Two strikeouts on the inning.
And remember, strike out the side.
Strike out the side in order are two separate things.
We've had to do both this year.
If we get a strikeout here,
it will complete our challenge.
Could not hold up again.
It's one and two.
He's looking for the heater.
I'm going to throw him one way up out of the zone, though.
See how high he'll go.
Up out of the zone.
He'll go way up out of the zone.
There's our challenge.
Complete strike three.
12 swings on the inning.
Only one ball in play.
I wasn't sure if it was low or high trajectory
when I pressed the button.
That would have been upper tank
if we were just a little under it.
He goes.
The 99 speed first pitch change up automatically there.
There's another point.
Got a bad jump.
So we'll swing.
And Sean Figgins, it doesn't matter.
A two run blast.
We were moving on the play.
But a bomb from the little man.
That card's so good.
He was one of the best additions to the Diamond Dynasty this year.
It's three nothing.
That's a tough play.
Look at Nolan Oronato.
The down ball.
Now, what am I doing, man?
I thought I was starting to turn it around there.
And then we do that.
Ground ball to third.
One down.
Nasty change up.
And another strikeout for Chris Sayle.
He's already got five.
Ew.
Dude, in three weeks, you're going to have to give them
All-Star cards and all of this stuff.
You should be doing more Legends and stuff
in the first half of the season.
Dot.
Eight.
No, they don't.
And what blows my mind is right before that.
Ha.
Chris Sayle's just too good.
I thought that was fouled by Lightyears.
It has a chance to stay.
Oh, I thought it might go.
I thought it might go.
Get through.
Figgins is on base again.
Take off.
Take off, Sean.
We keep going.
I don't think I've taken off on a fastball yet.
Two steps ahead of this guy.
Oh, we roll over.
Go, go, go, go, go, go.
Oh, he did the slip and fall thing.
He did the slip and fall thing.
This game is so broken.
How does an elite athletic runner
like Sean Figgins fall down breaking on the throw?
He doesn't.
It's just coded in the game
that you can't take third on a throw.
That's not baseball.
Make a strong throw.
Now, no chance.
Too fast.
All right, runner in scoring position
with nobody out here to start the fifth.
Things could get dangerous.
Consider the bullpen early.
So yeah, let's mix it up.
Let's not even give him a chance to breathe.
Let's go ahead and bring out.
Let's do Adrian Morihone
and his 121 pitching clutch.
One more wasted pitch.
We might as well use it.
One down.
Slide ball to center.
Two quick outs for Morihone.
Lead off double.
Not scoring would be devastating here.
That works too.
Ellie, make a throw.
Six, three.
We strand the runner in Morihone
and his 121 pitching clutch comes through yet again.
Get out.
Andrew Jones have a day.
A no doubter to the opposite field is absurd.
A distance bonus the other way is even crazier.
460 for Andrew Jones.
A 4-0 lead.
Ah, I thought it was rage quick.
He's going to go to Mason Miller on Shohei Otani.
Dot.
Look at that slider from Morihone
who goes a second inning and gets five whiffs.
Morihone, I mean, nasty sinker.
Ends the seventh.
Another strikeout.
We are just loaded up on points at this point.
Almost got that multi-homer bonus with Figgins.
We got to be earlier.
Just, it's too easy.
I think this guy's completely checked out.
Yeah, he's definitely checked out.
We're bunting 0-2 with nobody on.
Yikes, my man.
Yeah, I respect you for not quitting, but come on.
At least play it out.
There you go.
See, that's what I'm talking about, my man.
Never say never.
We're going to bear down on a sinker up and in
that just tips the corner.
I think he's going to stare at it.
Just go look at it.
Get through the hole.
Shohei with a lead-off knock in the ninth.
We want more points.
Get through.
Another knock.
Two singles on the inning.
Get down the way.
That came back fair.
We're going to score.
We're going to go first to 30.
He's going to throw it all the way home,
so we are safe everywhere.
And this is about to get ugly.
Get through.
Oh, Jayram hit that ball hard.
It will drive in a run.
Is that out?
Screwball right down the middle.
We were a little late.
Posada lets it get deep, and there he goes.
It's 8-0 in the ninth inning.
I didn't think that I had any chance of getting out of here.
Knock for Pete Crow Armstrong, which is tallying him up.
We're going to steal some more bases here, too.
Sean Figgins takes off.
It's the first time we took off on a heater,
but he didn't get to throw off.
There's another point on the stolen base.
Double extended lead, and we go two more points.
Another stolen base.
The ground ball to second.
So we will not score that ninth run,
but we tallied a couple extra points.
Let's win the game.
Fly ball to left, one down.
Tyler Rodgers just eating this one up.
We only used three arms in this game.
We completed the challenge.
We're up to eight runs.
We have our hits bonus, our strikeout bonus.
We've had a distance bonus.
What a game.
Pete Crow Armstrong said nobody shuts us out,
or another slider, another foul ball.
He's battling here.
He's down to his last strike.
He doesn't want to stop playing.
For what reason?
I don't know.
Right at him.
Let's tally the points.
22 total bases, three homers, a double.
We also scored eight runs.
That is 30 points.
We also got hit by a pitch.
That's 31.
We stole six bases.
That puts us at 37.
Five stolen bases or more as a team is a bonus.
So that's going to put us at 47.
We also get a 10 point bonus for having 10 or more hits.
That puts us at 57.
We had a distance bonus with Andrew Jones' homer.
That's going to give us 67.
We had 18 strikeouts as a team.
That puts us at 75.
And we get a 10 point bonus for having double digit Ks,
giving us an 85 point total.
85 points.
We were this close.
I just know it to getting the 25 point bonus for the Raidsquids.
We have 85 points, a choice pack,
and our challenge reward we completed as well.
Let's spin the raffle wheel and see what we're getting today
for completing the challenge.
We get live series Scooble.
Not many rewards left for us to get.
Scooble is one of them,
which means if we can get just one more 90 plus diamond
in today's episode, that will get us too low.
First and foremost, let's just grab Scooble,
get this over with.
It has been six months in the making,
but we are going to complete a league
on the back of Chris Sale, striking out the side.
We have completed the Los Angeles Dodgers,
40 out of 40, including Shohei Otani
for the 94 Manny Ramirez.
Now that Manny Ramirez is going to lock in
and complete the National League West.
Locking in all five of those collection rewards
is going to give us our 2000 stub reward
and none other than Roy Campanella.
94 post-season Campanella is also going to be the last reward
we need to complete the National League.
I cannot believe we're saying this,
but Burnett Singleton and Campanella
is going to unlock Albert Pujols.
The 99 red diamond Albert Pujols signature series
is on the squad.
Look at how beautiful it is.
We have an entire league done.
Albert looks really good in that lineup though.
We're just missing a shortstop.
I think you will get a Byron Buxton.
You think I'm going to get Byron Buxton himself?
Any 90 plus, I can trade in for another 90.
So any 90 would be nice.
If I don't get anything.
How do you trade them in?
Sell it and I go buy it.
Straight one for one swap.
That's what I'm saying.
And I can get one of the vault packs too.
We're waiting six months though.
I'll do this trade in style.
I don't care.
That is true.
Six months of no Byron Buxton.
Here you go.
I can already tell it's a bad look for me right now.
Okay.
Joe's, I need this man.
We need this.
This.
We.
The people have waited a month for this episode.
The hit rate on these have gone down.
What?
You would think it would go up later in the year
because the cards are like useless now.
Just like let the floodgates go.
Nope.
They're still milking their money out of the people that are on here.
He's a 90 flat, I believe.
He's a 90.
Oh, so he's a different color.
Teal.
We have a chance, Joe's.
If it's teal, we have Tula.
Any teal, it's Tula.
Any teal, it's.
Zach Wheeler.
That doesn't help.
Does not help.
But that's all right, though.
We're heating up.
We got one.
And we have one of those bulk packs to open after these if we need it.
That guarantees us an 80 plus live series.
This.
I feel like this counts as a diamond and then it kills your odds.
I think so, too.
That's messed up.
Not supposed to, but I think you're right.
That's why I get accused all the time of having juice packs.
Dude, I go three, four, five hundred packs without a dime, all the time.
I just open more packs than most people, but it happens all the time.
Two in a 15 pack window, McFly.
Teal.
Three to me.
Teal.
Nick Kurtz.
The big Amish doesn't help us.
I think we'll get we'll get we'll get more.
We'll get more.
Show me Scooble.
Scooble's a 90.
I'll take Scooble.
Let's go crazy and just pull Noatani.
Give me Stubbs to work with, too.
If you pull the red graphic diamond, I might do a backflip.
Sal Stewart.
Love that guy.
I do love Sal Stewart.
This late in the year, some of these cars don't have faces, right?
We can't even get an image.
Just Google the image or something.
Holt and Calzer.
Oh, that's okay.
How many do we have left?
We're 40.
We have 44 left.
We're 41 deep.
We're not even halfway there.
We've already pulled two diamonds, I think.
Oh, three, depending on how you look at it.
Robert Stoff.
John Schreiber.
Can you believe that the whole office looks like a pond out there right now?
Yeah, it's crazy.
Anthony K.
Gamer.
You got this, Joe.
I have faith in you.
I see something tingled at the moment you opened that pack.
Nothing.
Terrible.
That's 37 more.
You're running so many.
Yeah, the packs are kind of hot right now, though.
We just need the 90 juice.
Come on, Joe.
Brandon March.
I can't believe he's pushing diamonds.
Now he's down pushing bronze already again.
Great.
32 more.
I know.
Bryce Millar.
We're under 30, Joe.
We're under 30.
Ty France.
Edward's favorite.
All right, we're gonna get at least one,
but there will be another diamond in these standards.
It just has to be.
Gold.
Sonoha.
Come on.
Gold.
Freddie.
Freddie Freeman.
Oh, why?
He's having a good year.
What did he do?
That's the old.
We needed to bump someone else to a diamond,
so someone had to come down
and they already have a million of them.
Yeah, that's not good.
Because by your logic, if that counts,
we might not get another one here.
Oh, no.
Ryan Brace.
Yeah.
The people waited a month
for a bunch of purple diamonds in September.
Gold.
Carlos Correa.
Gold.
Yenir Diaz.
Yeah, the golds are flying out of these things, though.
Got, like, five golds the last ten packs.
13.
Not a good number.
You're gonna get it when there's nine packs,
but I'm gonna get a dive next.
We should give them in-game hobby boxes.
Here we go.
Hobby boxes.
Don't give them pack ideas in the big 2020s.
I see what you're doing.
I was picking up what you're putting down.
Come on.
We got to have at least one more, though,
even if it's a purple.
Packs were scorching hot.
I don't either.
Oh, so many gold.
Vlad almost down to a silver, by the way.
All right, we can open one of these two vault packs.
One.
There's gonna be two diamonds in it.
We get to pick one.
88 plus live series.
Oh, we got a pink Correction!
We did it!
Yes!
I didn't even know he was supercharged.
I should have been using him.
I should have been using him, but go over!
Go over!
Oh my god.
Oh.
Oh, I feel vindicated.
I'm just gonna press.
Yes.
Yes, Joes!
We did it!
Yes, Joes!
Completed!
Six months later.
All right, now I get to go into the collection.
We're gonna get to do the thing we've been waiting all year to do.
Byron Buxton purchased.
Joes, the twins collection is complete!
I don't know who the twins reward is.
I know that the division reward, I believe, is Annabelle.
It's Joe Maurer.
So then Joe Maurer's gonna go into the AL Central now.
Nice.
That's done.
This should give us.
So satisfying to watch.
It is, isn't it?
Those five are gonna go in for Annabelle Sanchez.
I think two K-Stubs.
And then you know what Annabelle Sanchez is gonna do.
Going straight to the American League now.
The Motor City Kitties.
Lock those three in.
It's been.
This has been all year in the making.
This is crazy.
Shout out Pete Crow Armstrong.
Felix Hernandez.
Now, we got Pujols earlier in the episode.
We're gonna combine him and Felix.
And the full live series collection.
Trade both of them two in.
The fact that it's doing it for you automatically is so satisfying.
I know, this is awesome.
It's 10K and Troy Tulewiczki.
Nice.
All right.
We've seen this card on opening day, no?
Like, we looked at it.
Yeah, we played with it.
Before the game even came out, we played with it.
Now, here I am in September unlocking it.
I gotta get a debut episode in with him, right?
There he is.
99 cycle.
Troy Tulewiczki.
115-105 contact.
106-113 power.
We have waited all year long to get him.
So, of course, we're gonna do a debut game.
So, in the next episode of PAX Squads, it will be the final episode of PAX Squads for 2026.
The Tulo and Pujols debut.
And then I will most likely also do some live streams at the end of this season over on Twitch.
We'll play with Tulo.
We'll play with Pujols.
We'll play with PAX Squads.
We'll do one more weekend classic with our team now that we have Tulo unlocked.
But there will be just one more long-form YouTube video for the year
where we're gonna debut Tulo and put a bow on this thing.
Now, with that said, we're gonna get back to the beginning of the episode now
and just do a straight-up channel update with what's going on.
It has been exactly one month since I uploaded my last long-form video,
which was the last episode of PAX Squads.
The biggest mistake I make every year, and I've been doing it for 10 years now,
is I do not have a concrete finish line for PAX Squads.
The last couple of years, we get to June.
I am completely burnt out and bored of the game.
PAX Squads is the only joy I get from playing Diamond Dynasty.
PAX Squads, a lot of the times, is just the most fun I have on MLB The Show.
The way the content is now compared to MLB 15 through 21,
on a day-to-day basis, it's just not nearly as fun now as it was back then.
If you've just jumped on the game the last couple of years and you love it,
and you love the grind, that's fine.
Me, personally, I know how this game was from 15 to 21,
the way that it used to be, the way the content used to be structured,
just how creative and unique things used to be as they were coming out.
I had significantly more fun doing No Money Spent
and playing through the mode a few years ago compared to now.
PAX Squads has always been the foundation of this channel.
It's always been the primary series on this channel.
However, I think because there's no concrete finish line,
it's just kind of become the entire identity of the channel.
Believe it or not, I am having the best year I've ever had on YouTube.
Coming into this year, I've never had more than 14 million views in one year.
I am already at 18 million views in September as I sit here talking right now
without uploading a long-form video in a month.
The reason for that is because I have put more time and effort
into things that I'm passionate about,
making short-form content that I think is fun and shareable,
making videos with my friends around the office here at John Boy.
PAX Squads is not going anywhere.
When MLB 27 comes around, we will be doing PAX Squads again.
I just will not be making that mistake of jumping into the series
without a finish line ever again.
We're going to know when the ending is and what our end goal is going into 27.
We probably will not do PAX Squads past the All-Star Game.
No matter what, we're going to structure it in that way.
What you can expect from me moving forward right now,
one, more offline content.
There's going to be a lot of franchise videos.
There's going to be a lot of me playing other baseball games.
There's going to be a lot of me playing retro baseball games.
There will be at least one short posted on this channel every single day,
most of the time, too,
because of the amount of effort I'm putting in the shorts right now.
With that said, make sure you're following me on TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
because over the last month that I haven't been posting long form here on YouTube,
I have been posting shorts every single day.
So for those of you that just watch PAX Squads,
it seems like I just disappeared off the face of the earth,
whereas, in fact, I have actually been having the best month of my content life.
I just want to bring you guys along for the ride with me.
Over the last month that I have been posting long form,
I have been trying to restructure things and organize things differently
so that I don't have to do this, you know, re-pivot every year.
Every year we get to like September,
we're going into the postseason of MLB The Show,
and there's like a pivot moment for me
where I need to figure out what I'm going to do with PAX Squads.
What am I going to do with content for the rest of the year?
I now have the vision.
I know what I want to do.
I know what the channel is going to look like.
This is me letting you guys know at the end of an episode
that I know you're going to watch.
We have one more episode of PAX Squads to come.
This channel is going to get significantly more organized
when MLB The Show 27 comes out,
when it comes to PAX Squads,
how it's framed, when it comes out, when it ends,
and we will be mixing in more franchise videos,
non-MLB The Show videos,
and the shorts will continue to pump out.
That's all I got for you.
Apologies for the delay on this one,
and I'll see you in the next one.
