It was the tournament where Federer probably played the most magical tennis of his life.
Ending Novak Djokovic's legendary 41 match winning streak,
Roger was producing some absolutely incredible tennis in the earlier rounds as well,
specifically in the 3rd round where he came up against another Serbian going by the name of
Janko Tipsarevic, a man that gave Federer a very hard time when he met him in a Grand Slam before.
However, in today's match, Federer was just in the mood.
The maestro decided to entertain everybody. The crowd,
the fans and even the ball kids had some of Roger's magic.

Second serve of Federer.
Yes, he had the opportunity to come in on the previous shot, didn't he?
And Janko Tipsarevic just played exactly the same single-handed backhand.
Federer purring and tips up.
I don't think he was listening. It's 5-1 and Federer's a double breakup.
Much better serving but the problem is Federer is a bit too late in this first half. Well, he has.
All the beauties coming the other end of the court.
Well, it just shows what can be done with the kick serve, using the kick serve as a first.
Set point number two.
Not much at all really coming from Janko Tipsarevic. He has got to step up, that's for sure,
because Federer is not going to hang around very long. 19 minutes it took.
So Federer taking the opening point of this second set. More joy for the spectators.
Probably his best point thus far.
But he's getting warmer after five successive games to Federer.
Again, opening up the court with the kick serve and Federer dealt with it pretty well, really.
I can see Federer at 1-2, second set. Just confirmation of what he's...
I think it's camaraderie, I think.
Just telling him to play shots like that.
Well, if he can end games and end long rallies with his backhand, I think it really does give him...
Well played, Janko Tipsarevic. Very fine rally.
It was a decent idea, but another poor drop shot and Federer storms ahead again.
Federer continuing on his way.
Two hundred and five.
Full of bad misses.
The real rough stuff was the fact that he was just missing those big first serves.
Really super play now.
More Federer tiring of playing from one end of the court to the other,
so deciding to play a drop shot.
Close.
What a service game.
But the rest of it, Tipsarevic was without playing effort.
Serving kind of made a difference.
But that sure is helping, Roger Federer.
Well, it is 40-11.
And it is Roger Federer, and you expect him to make it, in fact.
Wow.
Smack on the line.
It would have been awfully difficult to deal with, even if it was in, but...
That's well played.
It's a pretty match to watch.
Well, he's not exactly put him under any pressure, but...
It's been a stroll.
That will do.
This foo has been intimating.
If he can keep producing that shot,
it may not be a jock of which Nadal lock in this tournament.
Typical of Federer, isn't it?
Chronic miss hit.
It goes in, and then he turns.
Scintillating shot.
And gun.
It seems nigh impossible.
Well played.
He's nifty.
Well, that took some doing, because this was the right shot.
There was the...
Federer in his pond.
And a lot of people have not put him in the first category of winners.
They have Djokovic and Nadal at the top level,
and Federer probably best of the rest.
And maybe that suits him.
Yes, could be.
It was there, wasn't it?
He read him.
It is a big day for Federer, too, because...
That's been the problem.
Federer gets off to a flying start each time.
And before, early on here, I think the faster balls are suiting him.
There was a question mark about the high bouncing ball to the backhand side,
whether that might bother him.
It hasn't.
Isn't that typical?
Double.
Is he going to suffer?
Drive volleying has been outstanding.
Not always the best in the world at it.
But today, it's been magnificent.
Where did he drive all this from?
He had one foot behind the baseline.
And very well watched.
He was there in case it did something.
Let me take a note of the time against Tixeira.
I think it was 1h20.
This is 1h20 so far.
And threatens not to last too much longer.
It's back on this match.
I think that's probably the shot he's going to be most pleased with.
And the crowd really lapping this up in chunks.
Just laying the...
Well dealt with.
You never have any doubt where that ball was going to land.
Terrific performance from Roger Federer.
And listen to the roar that tells you.
That was a masterclass.
Fantastic ovation.
