In multiple updates surrounding the St. Louis Blues and not only does Jim Montgomery and Alex
Dean have a huge decision to make with one player in particular on this roster.
We're going to dive into multiple more updates, including an injury update,
one player that stood out and so much more surrounding this team to start this season.
But Darius, before we get into that, I want to give a huge shout out to absolutely
everyone watching. If you're part of the 60% watching this right now that's hiding Darius
away, make sure to go down to that free subscribe button. It means the absolute
world and we'll keep you up to date with everything to do around the St. Louis Blues.
It's completely free. You're missing out if you don't go down and hit it. But Darius,
let's dive straight into it today. Where of course the St. Louis Blue and their last
outing was not the prettiest one. We've seen quotes coming from Jim Montgomery,
but one that stood out the most was of course him speaking on. So it started with our preparation
mentally and that's on everyone. Now of course it was a bad game. There's nothing you can do
in that game when you're looking at every single position you got outmatched. But one player in
particular that a lot of fans are starting to throw shade at and point fingers at is someone
that ended last season on a bit of a dry spell. Well, Darius, what is your thoughts on Jordan
Bennington? Because there's a lot of talk going around a guy that's already been in trade talks.
And after that game, fans are starting to question if he's the goalie of the future.
Well, I think there's a few things that became clear through the first two games of the season.
And you know, one of them is that Adam, your check looks fantastic. And we'll definitely
talk about that later in this video. But the other thing is that you definitely have a starting
goaltender and you definitely have a backup goaltender and Joel for look great in the first
game of the season. They beat a really good Dallas Stars team. There's a lot of questions
about Dallas and coaching decisions and stuff like that, of course, but you beat a really good
Dallas Stars team, but then you head into Saturday night where you get absolutely smoked
by the hours who of course are also a good team, but poor decisions. It was the entire team as
well. But I just don't see Bennington as the number one for this team anymore. I think Joe
Hofer has taken that spot before. I think that he's already shown this season even though it's
been one game that he is he is going to be the same guy he is going to take that spot again.
But besides that, and besides dropping the second game in a blowout fashion,
I think there's a lot to like with what we've seen so far, Mark, I do. And I think that they
did push back in that third period, like it got out of hand, it got a bit ridiculous. But they
ended up pushing back in that third period against the Habs. And I've liked a lot of what I've seen
from Eurocheck to Mason McTavish to some of the younger talents on the team. I do like what I'm
seeing. I love the fact that Hofer, you know, is becoming that starting goaltender for the team as
well, because he is young, and it looks like he could be the future of this team as well. So
I like a lot of what I've seen. And we're going to get to some of that as well, but
not the greatest second game that I've ever seen. And I think it's a big worry. And listen,
I know a lot of people are gonna say, obviously, Bennington's not going to be the future of this
team. We have young goaltenders coming through. But I think it's going to leave a lot of pressure
on Alex Dean and Jim Montgomery to figure out how to handle this now. Because if you're starting to
get trade offers, people are going to start looking for goaltenders. The Edmonton Oilers
are in desperate need to add a goalie. If the offers start coming through, I think it's going
But of course, I did want to dive into, of course, an injury update that we've seen to the team,
because of course, a team that's plagued with injuries is going to deal with them. And the
St. Louis Blues seem to never get away from it. And we know that Torchenko is re-evaluated in
six weeks after sustaining an injury that adds to the list of Logan Mayhew. Darius,
what is your thoughts on the early season injuries already to this team and the fact
that now you're looking at maybe a lot of young guys coming up or new young guys coming up and
Yeah, obviously not ideal. And when I saw it immediately at Justice Reaction, I was like,
oh boy, like he's staying down a little bit longer than you'd like to see. And then it did turn out
that yeah, it was a shoulder injury. And he will be only re-evaluated, by the way, in six weeks.
So he is going to be out for quite some time. And that's just re-evaluation. That's not, hey,
he's going to be back in six weeks. He could be out for two months at this point. And then
obviously, the surgery to Logan Mayhew and so many injuries that have bit this team already
this season, where that was a problem last season, too. That was something we were talking about
through the summer. That was a bit of an issue for this team last year, too. So hopefully it's
not much more than that. They stay away from the injury bug. But, you know, Tyler Tucker as well,
that's that's been something, too. So hopefully he's back sooner rather than later. And, you know,
this is something that I think is going to, you know, be a big factor for that fourth line,
what that looks like. But then you have opportunities for guys like Zach Dean,
right, who did make the team as scratches or healthy scratch. And, you know, there's an
opportunity for him to maybe insert himself into the lineup here and get into the even more good
graces with Jim Montgomery. And speaking of Jim Montgomery, he had some interesting comments about
one of the younger players on the team in Adam Juracek, as he made his NHL debut his first two
games because of the injuries to the Defense Corps. And Mark, he looked very good. Listen,
the big thing with Adam Juracek is we've seen him come up. And it's crazy to even say that this guy
got into the lineup because, of course, Logan Mayhew went down. We see multiple guys get hurt.
And there probably wasn't a clear path to get him into this lineup without those happening. Again,
you don't want someone to go down to get an opportunity. You want everyone healthy.
But I think it's a blessing in disguise for Adam Juracek, because like Jim Montgomery said,
he looks like he's been in the league for three years. This is a kid that's on a mission to never
go back to Springfield. And, of course, that's no hit to Springfield. They're a dominant team.
They're going to be good. But this is a guy that continues to push. Now he had a goal overturned.
This is someone that I genuinely think, looking at the future with Adam Juracek,
I don't think it's that long for this guy to be a full-time NHL player. I know, Dearest,
you have really strong feelings about this kid because he's shown so much from every league
he's played in. But again, when you're getting to the point of everyone getting healthy,
do you think this guy just doesn't get sent down? Because honestly, at this point,
I can't see a world you do it. He's playing very well, very well. And Jim Montgomery is noticing,
he noticed that in preseason and training camp, he was on a podcast and he was talking about it.
In the summer, we had Mike Meyer on the show who works a lot with different prospects writing
articles about the Blues and does some great work, by the way. Go check him out on Twitter,
friend of the show. But, you know, we're talking to him in the summer and he goes,
he's going to be a great player. But is he a great player right now? Can he make the NHL?
And can he make a difference? And to me, so far, he's shown, again, it was a disallowed goal
because of an offside. He's making things happen. He's skating very well. He was playing top line
too. There was times in that game against Dallas where I was watching where he was playing with
Robert. So they're utilizing him in a lot of different ways right now. And I think he's
already making the case. We'll see how it looks consistently because he was kind of shot out of
a cannon, obviously first NHL game. So we'll see how he looks more consistently over a longer period
of time. But so far he's making a case to be like, no, I'm not going back down. This is where I am.
This is where I'm going to be. So I was very high on him through the summer. You were very high on
him during the summer, but you don't know what he's going to be until you see him out there with
some of the other guys. And so far through two games, I like what I've seen. And again, the
second game was just a absolute disaster. But in the first game, I really, really liked what I saw
because there's times young guys, especially defensemen come into a lineup and they just
look out of place. Like, oh, this is a little bit too fast for them. They'll find their way,
but it's a little too fast. I didn't see that at all. I did not see that at all. He looked at home.
So I'm excited to see what the rest of the season looks like for him, whether that's here or in
Springfield. But I think he's going to start to make a case to go up to Jim Montgomery,
to go up to Alex Dean and be like, listen, I'm not going back. I'm going to make it impossible
for you guys to send me back. But fans, we want to know your thoughts on everything down below.
From Adam Jurczyk getting into this lineup and even talking about another prospect,
Justin Carbono has been incredible down in the AHL, shows the bright future.
What is your thoughts on Jordan Binnington? Is there a possibility to trade? Of course,
we don't want him gone. He's going to be in the rafters at some point. But again,
teams are going to start calling, especially with a guy that's shown up in big moments.
What is your thoughts on Torpchenko? Mark, I'll say it just to cut you off. Sorry.
Let us know how you feel about Torpchenko as well in the comments. But Jordan Binnington,
I'm going to say it right here. He's going to get traded this year. 100%. I'm saying it now.
We'll have content throughout the year. 100% Jordan Binnington will be traded. Mark, I don't
know if you feel differently. Guys, let us know in the comments. Jordan Binnington will be traded
by the end of this season. But listen, put these down in the comments. If you think that Jordan
Binnington is going to get traded, if you agree with Darius, put M if you don't think he's going
to. Let us know your thoughts on everything down below. I've been your host Mark with my co-host
Darius. We're both sick. So we're getting through this and take care, Blues fans.
