September Days at the Norwegian Homestead

It is September on our homestead in the forest in Norway. On our small farm, the days have grown shorter, but there is still sunlight, and both humans and animals are enjoying these last few days with a feel of summer.
Our Mangalitsa pigs are digging up their new area, the ducklings are becoming teenagers, and the sheep are enjoying their final days in the forest before the forest pastures get to rest until next year.
We humans are busy with firewood; my husband chops it, and I stack it along the house walls. It looks so nice! Since we live off-grid, having enough wood for the winter is very important to us.
Otherwise, I am making blueberry jam, harvesting potatoes, and baking potato pancakes that we enjoy in the evening light. A chanterelle hunt yields a wonderful basket of forest gold, and we have risotto for dinner.
Then there is a change in the weather with rain before the temperature drops, and the video ends as I hurry to get the harvest in before the frost sets in.
In this video, I am wearing a black armband as the nation has been in mourning following the passing of the King.
