I love getting older. Yeah, things are gonna change and things are gonna suck but like
You're alive
My favorite part of creating rare genuinely was because I didn't know so much about what
You know was happening to me meaning I was seven years old in a makeup chair
That's just not normal and weird, but I was around it my whole life and I never knew how to do it
And so I have videos of me and my friends
Where i'm making tutorials
on I wanted to post on youtube, but
They're like really fun to play with and I just wanted to be a part of the conversation
But I knew if I was going to enter
the world of cosmetics
It needed to also have a meaning first. I want products that are great easy to use not complicated
And on top of it, we've been able to create the rare impact fund which is
Thriving and that makes me happiest for sure
It's so nice to be able to donate and that is very important
But having tangible evidence that we've been doing things for the communities that we connect with and we're constantly looking
for new people to
start
Ideas with and see what we can do and help in the mental health space because it's extremely important
I think for me I still am discovering
Certain parts of my brain and my attitude towards mental health is constantly growing and I think it's important to grow with it
and understand
The logic behind it even when you're in, you know, maybe an episode which i've you know
been able to be grounded and
And rooted until my dut work and working with my therapist
There are so many ways but also just creating the coping skills yourself is really important
So I just try to work on it. So it's every day. I think I see the light every day. I just get closer and closer
I think I I have had people in my life that have unconditionally loved me and even when they were
Not understanding exactly what I was feeling. I
Felt seen and I felt really loved so they were confused but once I found out, you know got my diagnosis and
I feel
Free and they understand and it made sense. So just sticking it out with someone being next to them
in their hardest moment
means more than
you know
a
thing
Older has been so fun. I'm not scared at all. I don't get that feeling. I I love getting older
yeah, things are gonna change and things are gonna sag but like
You're alive, you know, I think age is just a number in many ways
I gotta be honest the 2016 throwbacks and all of it is so much fun, but people get really intense
I always make this joke where I think people want to freeze me in time to that period of my life
I don't know. Maybe it was well was probably more interesting. So i'm now
Chilling, which is great, but it was just hectic
It was such a hectic period in my life. And of course I had to rock a smoky
I was trying to be cool now. I do a smoky eye and it just looks a little different
I think uh people always want me to look the way I did and that's just not gonna happen
I don't know what i'd say to my younger self, but I have a 13 year old sister
My sister is so much cooler than me. She's 13 and has more confidence than I do
So she is actually so thrilled to try things, but she also knows she doesn't need it
So I think I wouldn't just tell her like you're beautiful exactly how you are, but try anything you want
she loves coming to the office and
Having a field day and that that makes me happy. So overall I I feel
like I would just say have fun and
Enjoy it if it's
Making you feel something, you know, like oh I need this to be pretty. That's not really true
I think everyone's pretty and beautiful the way they are
You know the older i've gotten the more I've realized that it is super important to take care of your skin
So I like facials and I love things that help it just look better
And that feels better. I'm just gonna go in a little bit like that and then blend blend blend blend
I usually will use
You know a primer and whether it's the illuminating primer
Or actually I don't really use the primer as much as I used to because I just use like two pumps of the foundation
Kind of brush it all over and then I use bouncy blush and I use my eyebrow gel
and my mascara
And lip oil. I actually was terrified to release the foundation. We had one before previously and
It definitely needed some love I was very proud of it. It worked so well with certain skin types and
We had you know 48 shades and it was just really important to make it very inclusive
But at the same time I had to let it go
And then start something new, but I kind of felt inspired by hung
Who's one of my makeup artists the way he applies the foundation makes it look airbrushed and beautiful and soft
So that's what I wanted the foundation to feel like which ultimately when he puts it on me and it works
It makes me very proud. I wore it on my wedding day. Yeah, it was um
It was also kind of good for crying I realized
I did a lot of that so and it held pretty great
I think it's very important for me to space things out. I think when I was younger I felt like it was
90 miles an hour. It was just fun and I
Felt I only felt good when I would work now. I I need to be sane
now I need to genuinely
Take time to appreciate my life and
That's why I took a step back from music. So as much as yes, uh, i've been busy. I think i've balanced it really well
My husband he happens to be
Extremely more advanced in that world than I am and I really appreciate his advice and his guidance, but he never
Took control of anything if anything I wanted him to
And he just said no, I I want your decisions to be your decisions and it was very easy
I don't think I would make every album with him or always do music with him
But I loved it and we have a memory now we've done something together I think we're still in the honeymoon stage
I love it. It just feels so wonderful to have a partner that actually genuinely listens and
And just meets you right where you are whatever that mood or day looks like and that's all I could ask for
I just need him and I love him. So it's pretty great. He is a very joyful human. He's very fun
Spontaneous and he loves to talk. He took a boat to see me in london
It's very romantic, but also equally stressful if you're the wife just hoping he's safe. I have a hankerchief
I'm crying and you know waving him off and how do you see me?
Yeah, it's my life
This is the sixth birthday of rare it actually has a cute meaning to me it's only murders season six
I just finished and it was so fun to you know, have a refreshing new season and have it be
Completely separate from other places. I have to be honest. It was pretty
Hard being away from home, but I was with my other family. What if I talk to ghosts?
Uh-huh
um
Say more about that
I just asked meryl like acting stuff and like some of the choices that she's made and I always make a joke and say
She's the best she's like just not only is she the goat she happens to be the nicest person you'll ever meet
She's always laughing
She'll be singing
I mean even if she's you know has on like has downtime. She's always doing something like knitting
So cute. She's so
They've shown me by example what it means to have dignity to have class
To understand that the world doesn't always have to be a serious place
They'll ask questions and I have genuine thoughts and they don't make me feel silly for asking them anything
look, they all have families and
They've lived life
In a way that I never have so I think maybe that's why i'm not afraid of getting older because it
People have made it look really good
What am I supposed to see in this decade I just want to be happy
I just hope i'm still doing things that I love and I hope that if I stop loving what I do that I will stop
I actually never really place value in what I do because it can destroy you instantly. I like to be
Appreciative of everything that comes my way. So I just hope for
great things
That's about it. I love where I am now
It feels incredible. I feel very lucky and I enjoy every day
