My name is Rupara Govere, the owner of Little Paris, a store in Harare, Zimbabwe.
After relocating from England, my husband and I opened a bookshop.
A few years later, an opening came up for a much bigger space within the same premises
and I always wanted to own a home deco shop, so we decided to open Little Paris,
named after our daughter Paris. There were not many home deco shops at that time
and being an Annie Sloan stockist allowed me to open a different type of home deco shop,
selling paint and painted furniture. Decorating using Annie Sloan shop paint allows me to
think outside the box. I can become more creative. I also can offer bespoke finishes
for my clients because of the wide range of colours available in Annie Sloan shop paints.
When running a small business, it's important to have the community throughout the journey.
Little Paris is not just about sales. It's about relationships with customers and knowing that I
have a role to play within the community. It's also about bringing different strands of life
together, sharing what we have and learning to grow together. In 2018, I won the Interpreter
of the Year award at the Zimbabwe International Women's Awards held in Birmingham, UK,
for my work with Annie Sloan shop paints at Little Paris. Support local.
