I don't know if the camera picked it up this morning
when I had them both outside filming
the moon setting and the sun sort of rising,
although it's not risen yet,
but it's getting lighter in the sky
and the trees are just exploding from the cold.
Last night, I didn't have the camera on
in the middle of the night, obviously,
but the cabin big banged maybe three times
as the logs expanded and checked, I would imagine.
Imagine it cracked one of them.
I'm not sure where they were,
what part of the cabin it was,
but just can hear them outside.
It's like a shotgun, really loud.
The cold just explodes the sap inside the tree.
That's how cold it is.
This is the coldest day for sure so far this year.
Minus 43 with the wind chill, minus 32,
just regular temperature right now.
Three, four days of this.
So I had big plans.
I thought I had a pretty good day
despite the cold yesterday on the sauna,
and I thought I'm gonna get the last six logs done today
and then I can start working on the roof.
That's just not gonna happen.
I'll have to just spend the day maintaining my tools
and if it warms up a little bit this afternoon,
maybe get out and cut those ridge poles down.
See, that's a check.
Some settling and cold checks on the logs behind us here.
Good day probably to cut firewood, actually.
Maybe I'll do that, too.
Just worried about Callie.
She's gonna have to stay inside the cabin,
I think, most of the day.
It's just not warm enough for her.
Probably the next three days, actually,
she can just stay in her titty here.
There's probably a tree exploding.

Roads are actually good today,
other than being frozen solid and rough.
The plows have been out one last night,
so being an unorganized township,
my road gets plowed, or the roads in this area,
so my road and the connecting roads get plowed
probably half as frequently as the neighboring township,
and the reason is
because there's hardly any residents out here,
so the guy that makes the decision lives out here
and really everybody, if you're living in this area,
have vehicles and driving skills
to deal with these kind of conditions,
so he doesn't bother spending the township's limited money
to maintain the roads.
Our property taxes are less than $300 a month,
or a year, I mean.
If they were a month, I wouldn't be living here.
Less than $300 a year, I think,
might even be like $180 or something, I don't remember,
but the only thing that goes towards really is schooling,
because the odd school bus does come out here,
and road maintenance,
so the road maintenance is done
by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario
instead of the municipality,
since there isn't an organized government
for this municipality,
so fortunately, we've got enough snow
in the last couple of days that they plowed the roads,
and then we've got this cold,
but we have another six inches of snow,
like 15 centimeters of snow coming in tonight,
so we'll see how quickly they get that off the road.
I would imagine they'll leave that,
typically four or five inches, they don't bother,
but if we get another snowfall the day after,
then they'll probably plow it,
so this is a good day to head out,
in other words, for me to get into town
and get some shopping done
and check out the wood supply at the lumber mill.
Not sure how much they're getting out of the bush right now
with the snow conditions, so we'll see.
I don't know how many driveways you can see on film here,
but none of them are plowed.
That's how few people actually live here.
The only properties that are private
that are actually owned here,
because it's mostly crown land in this area,
are seasonal places that people can't get into
or don't come up to in the wintertime,
so the roads, plows just plow of course right through,
and the banks get up so high,
they couldn't go to the properties if they wanted to.
Cabin in the woods right there,
but no way to get into it.
The banks are about five feet high
right in front of this driveway.
Pretty much every time we're out,
we end up doing some exploring.
I always have the snowshoes in the truck
and a shovel, emergency gear,
and a backpack full of camping gear and stuff,
so literally every time we're out in town,
we end up going for a walk in some bush,
especially if I see activity from wildlife or something.
I'm always looking for some cool photographs or video
or just exploring a new area.
I always love to do that.
Callie gets restless in the truck too,
so after a little bit, we'll reward her by taking her out,
especially when I'm in uploading a video,
she stays in the truck unless it's really hot out.
Just wandering around here.
So this is pretty typical of our day,
going to town, get everything done, shop, upload video,
do some exploring, and what else?
Visit people if they're around.
So yeah, that's it.
All right, well, I'm gonna head into the cafe here
and upload the two videos that I made
over the last couple of evenings,
and also probably, although it's clear
that the internet might be fairly fast,
but if it's slow at all like it usually is,
then I'll have time probably to edit this video too
and upload it at the same time.
So that's what I try to do when I'm in town
is do as many things as possible,
be as efficient as possible,
and uploading three videos is great
because that means it's basically a week's worth of videos
or a half a week's worth of videos at least
uploaded at one time, and as I get ahead,
then I'll be able to probably get
at least a full week's worth of videos uploaded.
So I'll go in, get that done,
and then take Callie for a walk.
Said the word.
She's like, what?
Can we do that now?
Did you hear the walk word, Callie?
Hey, Callie, walk?
All right, so I'll do that,
and then head back to the cabin.
So appreciate everybody following along.

So I look forward to seeing you up at the cabin
or wherever else I am next time.
Take care and have a great week.
