A motorcyclist embarks on an adventurous ride through the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, transitioning from highways to the gravel paths of the Trans-American Trail (TAT). The journey features stunning vistas, a nostalgic visit to the Appalachian Trail, and a stay at a hostel in Hampton, Tennessee.
Are you ready to go for a ride, have an adventure, and hit the road? Let's do it. We're going to hit
the highway, go through the North Carolina mountains, the Tennessee mountains,
up into the TAT, the Trans-American Trail, and have some fun. Come join us.
North Carolina. So far so good. Still alive.
Haven't melted. Definitely warm. It's about 100 degrees out still.
And time to hydrate and get some food. Not going to lie, this looks amazing.
The air conditioning might be the best part of it, but this is going to be delicious.
That certainly didn't take long, but now that means we're back out to the heat wave.
Getting going. We should have the mountains soon. Higher elevation to hopefully bring this
heat down. Let's hit the road.
Yeah, you may not be able to see those up there, but we have mountains in our view. This entire
ride has just been fantastic. It was threatening on raining on us. Luckily that didn't happen. We
had pretty nice blue skies. As I've mentioned multiple times to make quite clear, it was a
steamboat early on in this trip, but we're in the elevation getting a little cooler wind,
which is a very nice change. Just a little bit here. We're going to be turning onto the
Trans-American Trail, the TAT, and who knows what that's going to bring. That could get
very interesting very fast. So let's see what we run into here.
Back a lot of memories. You see the white blazes on the tree. We spin around here. You can see
across to the sign on the white blazes there. This is part of the Appalachian Trail. If you're
unfamiliar, it's a trail that goes from Georgia to Maine all the way across the country. My wife
and I hiked it in 2019, so seeing the white blazes always bring back the emotions. Let's hit that.
We're on the TAT. We're on gravel. Might be beauty spot. Let's see if we can get some struggle.
The fun's about to begin.
There is just no way that views like that ever get old. That is for sure.
All right. This is what I'm talking about. Holy smokes, man. What a road. Let's see why they bring
the Trans-American Trail through here. All right, guys. Don't mind the squeak. Still working against
that, but I got to show you one of my absolute favorite things in Tennessee, and this is pretty
awesome. Hopefully, you'll geek out about it like I will. Check this out. Beauty spot,
which is directly on the Appalachian Trail. I'm standing on the Appalachian Trail right now.
This is the view. Oh, my gosh. Epic. Well, what goes up must come back down.
I'm going to have some steep gravel on the way down here, but that was absolutely amazing.
The Linville Gorge was awesome. Everything has been awesome, but
this is definitely a little something special. Views are unbelievable, and we're just getting
started. We're going to be in Hampton, Tennessee, crash at Boots Off Hostel,
and we're going to be back on the tack and a lot more adventure on this ride.
I'm telling you guys, I've been doing this for a month now. Anybody can get out here.
Just don't overdrive your skills. Learn. Aggressively look for knowledge on how to ride,
how to ride better, but, man, anybody can get out here. You don't have to be any rock star or
lifetime motorcyclist or anything. This is an adventure. This feels amazing.
We've been going down for the better part of about three miles now. All I can see is switchbacks
going down, but it's been a beautiful ride. Barry's up ahead of me. A little better on these
downhills than I. Three more miles on this road, which has just been a ton of fun. It's already
about quarter after seven, or I would just turn around and do this road back up.
This has been amazing, but we need to make it to camp. Hope we will have time to run back out here
tomorrow because this thing is amazing. See if we can get to camp before dark.
Man, I didn't look over there. That's quite the deep valley there.
Oh, I think I just saw, yep, I just saw the AT. Yeah, I just crossed the AT again. I think the
AT crosses this road like five times. Well, welcome to Hampton, Tennessee, where I'll lay
our heads for tonight and call home. What an epic day. I'm not even sure epic is the right word,
guys. This was a great day. I mean, this view in front of me is a great view. Oh boy, what a day,
but we're going to go get set up at the hostel, find some food and relax. So we'll be back.
Welcome to Boots Off, my friends. Let's show you around. All right, let's see.
Saving the space, so I'll move my ass over so both of us can get in here.
We've been on the bikes all day, man. Got checked in at the hostel. It is time for food. We are
starving and going to relax from there, guys. Looks like a little barbecue shops in town,
small town, Tennessee. You got to love it. Let's see if we can dig up. It is now 9 14.
Dinner was fantastic. Quite a long day. It is time to get back, possibly shower. It was really
hot today, but we got air conditioning in the cabin. I'm really excited for that. Let's hit
the road and get back to Boots Off. Oh, guys, it is late and we have been on the bikes all day long.
Fantastic day. Wow. I mean, what can you say? The ride was just outstanding.
We're going to chill, get back, relax. We're going to sleep good tonight. I'm going to go
ahead and wrap it up here, guys. This section of the of the Trans-American Trail, the Tatt,
the ride up the Linville Gorge area was amazing. I highly recommend it.
We'll see you in the morning. We're going to have a great day tomorrow as well.
After sleeping in just a little bit. So appreciate you watching. Don't forget to like,
subscribe and hit the little bell. Come along for the journey.
We'll see you tomorrow morning. And I am out.
