AI GeneratedReed Hastings, co-CEO of Netflix, discusses the impact of Brazilian original content on a global scale. He highlights how local storytelling transcends boundaries, fostering cultural curiosity and increasing international interest in Brazil's travel, language, and people across 190 countries.
Oi, Brasil! I'm Reed Hastings, co-CEO of Netflix. It wasn't long ago we launched 3%,
our first Brazilian original, five years ago. There's so much we've learned about the beauty
of Brazilian storytelling since then. We've had the incredible privilege to work with the best
local talent and creators and to witness their creative excellence in bringing more Brazilian
stories to the world. Stories have the power to transcend boundaries and connect with audiences
across the 190 countries where Netflix makes them available. And our members around the world
have found a window to new cultures. A glimpse into a song they've never heard, a rhythm they've
never danced to, a food they've never tasted, a voice they've never heard, a book they've never
read, or even a moment they've never been part of. While we saw the conversations and impact
that stories had on the world, we wanted to dig deeper to understand how stories bring people
closer to a country like Brazil. Through research we conducted earlier this year across seven
different countries, we've learned members around the world are almost twice as likely to have seen
Brazilian content than people who don't watch Netflix. Globally, those who watch Brazilian
content on Netflix are three times more likely to say the country is the first on their list
of travel destinations or that they have an interest in learning Portuguese. They're also
more than two times more likely to say they have an interest in getting to know more Brazilians.
And there's so much more to discover and fall in love with. So much more diverse Brazilian stories
to be told. Thank you for being part of this journey and I'll leave you up to those
who know best how it feels to take Mais Brasil to the world.
