Meet one of the oldest cats on earth. This is the palace's cat, also known as a manure.
Researchers think it's one of the oldest living cat species in the world,
having diverged 5.2 million years ago from a leopard ancestor.
Native to Central Asia's cold grasslands, its coat changes colour to blend into rocks and snow.
This secretive cat hides in rock crevices during the day and comes out at dawn and dusk to hunt
rodents. Although its thick coat makes it appear large in size, it isn't actually much bigger than
a domestic cat. For such a small feline, these cats have unusually large territories,
typically covering 3.5 to 7 square miles. That's about the size of the main island of Venice,
including its canals, port and rail station. And here's the cutest part.
According to Edinburgh Zoo, it stands on its bushy tail to keep its paws warm.
