October’s Ireland Side Quest Event

Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Phoenix Live on Phoenix 92.5. How are you doing today? I hope your weekend is off to a great start. I know it's too early to be all optimistic, but guys, I'm so happy for the weekend. I'm not even gonna lie. This week, this week drained your girl. This week drained your girl. I know I don't sound like it, but the week did drain me. But something about radio energizes me. It makes me so, so happy radio is my happy place a radio the universe is a very happy place um you can see my socials i make social videos and just yap so more like a certified yapper i'm a professional yapper and it is a path i was destined to toe since childhood since i wouldn't shut up and my parents are glad i found the radio because then they're like somebody else could do that not us so anyways uh side commentary done we will be having someone on later at 10 30 to talk to us we'll be having paul he's been on before and it was a really insightful conversation this time around we're going to talk about intuition we're going to talk about confidence assurance and all that good jazz about like living your best life but before we get into that and oh i got i have some songs that i think you're like okay i'm not gonna i'm not gonna jinx it i'll just let the producer decide but i have side quests compiled for this saturday up to the end of october so if if it's something you're interested in if it's something you want to get on board with i encourage you to go out of your way and try something from a separate category than something you would normally go for so i'm starting strong with the introverts of course something light for you i my side quest suggestion for the introverts this week is to write an academic paper in your field i know it sounds crazy but i promise you it's so much fun if you think research is fun i think it's something you would enjoy i myself have done this i i don't know if i fall on that introvert but i myself have done this i wrote an academic paper for um the international uh international journal of communication so yeah if you didn't know my i'm a journalist trained journalist and like i have journalistic things uh going on the side but i wrote the paper on africa's representation in international media it was really really a good one to write and just map out how many times anyways i'm not going to get into the science but write an international journal or national or give a paper or do a TED talk just sign up to one of those things i think research is fun and that's my side quest suggestion if you're an introvert if you're an outside baby like i like to think i am that's not true my social battery is like two minutes long um for music and concerts this week we have the world of Hans Zimmer it's in Three Arena it's on 4th of october so i'm assuming if you're going you already have your tickets but if you're interested you can check the website and see what's available for you we have Gilbert O'Sullivan on the 10th of October also in Three Arena we have something going on in Olympia um Melanie C with Sophie and the Giants Westlife 25th anniversary world tour is still ongoing i know Westlife already had a show i don't know if this is continuity of that one but i missed that one more so i think i missed this one but if you're a Westlife fan arise arise J. Cole is coming to Ireland 22nd October into the Three Arena as well Manic Street Preachers um at Olympia Theatre we have the Strokes 28th October and the Scripts we have a bell Bobby Shmurda live in Dublin it's happening at Chillers oh Bobby Shmurda it's a bit of a afrobeat Nigerian music i don't know if i can play it for you maybe not because he rated uh for food and drinks we have Rocktoberfest 2026 it's happening on the 10th of October at the Rascals Brewery and pizza restaurants definitely want to check that out we have Rio de Wine festival oh wine festival at the Alex Hotel if you like wines or you're trying to get into the winery trying to learn more just be a bit more you know i find it very interesting like the swirling i taste the notes of sometimes i don't taste nothing i'm not gonna lie but i'm just like taste the notes it has a whiff it has a hint of that is the place for you to go go to the wine festival and learn how it is done and under comedy we have Crack Den Comedy Club it's weekly thursday night at the Workman's Club check that out Punch Drunk Comedy Club is weekly at in stitches comedy club it's happening from 2nd october onward so have a safe look into that if it's close to you or in your neighborhood i could be meaning to check it out i think i'm overdue to go to another comedy event to see how much i've learned so i think since the last time i went i've learned a few new things here and there bits and bobs and i would like to put that to the test like giving yourself an exam who am i who do i think well arts and culture and nightlife there's candle light is back at Saint Andrews Parish Church it has been that's abba i've been to a candle light concert i really liked how it went i'm not gonna lie i really really enjoyed it it was just very um solemn it was just not quite i don't know if it's because it was in a church or it was the dramatic lighting or was the music was so good and spoilers the candles are electric it's not open flame i don't know what i was thinking when i said i kind of thought it was going to be open flame but it wasn't okay coldplay versus ed sheeran uh that happened already the poetry stroll is a guided literary walking tour sweeney's pharmacy is the start point you can check it the galas lgbtq plus awards 2026 happening today at dublin royal convention center you probably have your ticket if you don't definitely check it out dublin festival of history it's continuing into october it kind of started towards the late of september but it's running through to 11th october it's free citywide so check something near you festival of history i really like i always say i love how ireland documents with history and just stands on business in that regard there's no joking around with history in this country now halloween is upon us guys halloween season um bram stoker festival is 23rd to 26th october you could check i'm not too sure about the end dates so you could look into that yourself it's having it's happening at various um venues city-wide theater film outdoor spectacle storytelling family and adult programming just look it up and you find something that you like yourself we have pumpkins after dark runs throughout October, Newbridge House and Farm and it has thousands of illuminated pumpkins haunted, I'm gonna mark this down, I'm gonna look this up, this one has caught my attention just seems very funny, the Haunted Trail Malahide if that's something you're into, definitely check Malahide Castle and Gardens day and after hours version, you can look into that and see if you want to get a scoop on, and we have the Ghost Bus kids tour, I've heard good things about the ghost bus tour, should get into that one day but there's a Ghost Bus kids tour throughout the month of October, you can book various time slots to see what's happening, what's coming out there, we have GAA Museum Halloween happening at Croke Park, we have GAA happening at Croke Park and you should definitely check that out if that's something you're interested in Blanchardstown, Lark After Dark, lastly on Halloween we have Lark After Dark, Double Bill House on haunted hill carnival of it's happening in Belgrave again, look into that, Blanchardstown specific, we have a free Halloween event at the Bartley Doyle Library so check it if it's happening near you, if you're listening to this from outside Blanchardstown, still check it out and there's also a teen Halloween event, it's 13 to 18, it's uh I can't pronounce this what's happening in Blanchardstown look into it, I don't want to call this wrongly, it's from 27th, it's happening on 27th October, so just put teen Halloween event on Google and hopefully it pops up because your host cannot pronounce it but it's d-r-a-i-o-c-k-t I hope that helps, all right, I gotta get out of for a music break and once we come back we'll delve straight into the conversation with Paul Fleming, stay tuned
