Bali is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, but between the never-ending traffic,
crowded beaches, and constant construction, it isn't always the relaxing paradise people imagine.
So what if I told you there was a place in Bali with almost everything you were looking for,
but minus the chaos? This is Nusa Dua. Beautiful beaches, luxury resorts, great restaurants,
shopping, culture, activities, and attractions, all packed into one incredibly convenient area.
So today we're going to find out why so many people come to Nusa Dua, and if Bali's easiest
beach vacation is the right choice for you. Nusa Dua is one of Bali's best-known beach and resort
areas, but it feels completely different from almost everywhere else I've explored on the island.
You've got wide roads, manicured gardens, massive statues, fountains, and possibly the rarest luxury
in Bali, actual sidewalks. I haven't had to walk directly into traffic once, and I am feeling pretty
spoiled. And these paths aren't just here to look pretty. They make it easy to take a stroll in the
shade, go for a run, ride a bike, and connect many of the beaches, resorts, restaurants, and attractions
without constantly having to jump back on a scooter. And if walking isn't your thing, there
are shuttle options too. Basically, somebody looked at Bali and said, wow, this is amazing, but how do we
make it easier? And they definitely did make it easier. But since we're talking about this as one
of Bali's best beach destinations, then the beaches have to deliver too. So let's go check them out.
Something I didn't understand before coming here is that Nusa Dua isn't just one beach.
It's actually a collection of beaches that stretch all the way down the coastline.
And a great reference point are these two small islands right here, which are actually how Nusa
Dua got its name. Nusa means island, and Dua means two. Nusa Dharma is the smaller, more spiritual one,
with the temple sitting right in the middle and some great viewpoints overlooking the water.
Then you've got Peninsula Island. One of its main landmarks is a huge statue of Krishna and Arjuna,
and also where we're going to check out the water blow a little later. Now that we know where we are,
it's time to go and get our feet sandy, because while these beaches might be right next to each
other, they all feel completely different. Around the main Nusa Dua and Menjiat area, everything
feels really polished. You've got big resorts sitting right behind the beach, restaurants nearby,
plenty of chairs and umbrellas, and pretty much everything you need within easy reach.
There are wide stretches of sand with beautiful turquoise water, and plenty of space to play some
volleyball, fly a kite, or just find a spot and do absolutely nothing. The swimming here is very easy,
and the shallow water is a great place to chill out while enjoying those Bali beach vibes.
And if you want to surf, you'll find places where you can rent a board and organize a lesson.
Conditions change with the tide, wind, and weather, so make sure you check the flags that day
to make sure you're safe while you're out in the water. If you're staying in one of the beachfront
resorts, most of them have their own chairs and facilities set up along the water, but you
definitely don't have to be staying here to enjoy the beach. In public areas, you can rent beds and
and there are also beachfront restaurants and beach clubs where you can use the loungers when
you're ordering food and drinks. One of my favorites is Amakan. Located between the two
islands, they have some comfortable chairs and umbrellas right on the water. It's where Japan
meets Bali, and they have a beautiful zen garden with bridges, and there are even brightly colored
koi fish swimming around in the ponds. They also have real Japanese remote-controlled toilets that
are worth checking out. I'm a big fan of this setup, because if I'm going to spend money on
a beach chair anyway, I'd rather have some lunch and a cold drink come with it. There's also a spot
right on the beach that has these beautiful trees growing on it that is the perfect place to get a
break from the sun. You can just relax, watch the waves come in, and the best part is, it's absolutely
free. But if all this feels a little bit too polished for you, then keep heading down the
coastline, because the atmosphere starts to change. And that brings us to Geger Beach. You've still got
everything you need for a comfortable beach day, but to me, Geger feels a little more laid-back and a
little less resort-heavy. But laid-back definitely doesn't mean boring. When the wind picks up, this
is also an incredible place to watch kite surfers flying across the water. And if you keep walking
all the way down to the end of the bay, there's a stone jetty that wraps around the coastline and
gives you some beautiful views looking back across the beach. When you're done there, it's just a
short walk over to a cliffside temple overlooking the ocean, which is definitely worth checking out.
And if sitting on the beach isn't enough for you, then Nusa Dua has lots of ways to turn
that energy up. You can keep things relaxed with a kayak or stand-up paddleboard, or turn things up a
notch with jet skis, parasailing, and all kinds of other water sports. You can even strap yourself
into one of these fly boards and attempt to look like Iron Man for approximately seven seconds
before gravity remembers who's in charge. And if none of that sounds interesting, apparently you
can bring a horse to the beach and go for a ride. Just don't forget your camera. And that's something
else that makes Nusa Dua such an amazing beach destination. You can spend half the day doing
absolutely nothing and the other half of the day doing absolutely everything. And you don't have
to travel all the way across Bali to do it. And when you want to get off the beach for a while,
Nusa Dua was designed so you don't have to leave the area every time you want to get some food,
do some shopping, or find some entertainment. Because right in the middle of it all,
you've got Bali Collection. This is one of the main shopping and dining areas in Nusa Dua.
They've got restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacies, souvenirs, clothing, spas, and plenty of places to
pick up the usual vacation necessities. A lot of it's open air with huge trees, outdoor dining,
and fountains running through the middle. And they also have an air-conditioned section for when Bali
gets too hot and you need to cool down for a few minutes. You can also watch local artisans
hand crafting some of the Balinese products being sold here. So it isn't all international
brands and souvenir stands. And depending on when you visit, they hold markets, events,
and cultural performances as well. So it's worth checking out their website. But there's a huge
part of the Nusa Dua experience we haven't talked about yet. And that's what's sitting right behind
these beaches. Nusa Dua is probably best known for its resorts. And some of these places are
absolutely massive with huge swimming pools, spas, restaurants, fitness facilities, activities,
and of course the beach sitting right out front. Take Laguna for example. This place is built
around these huge lagoon style pools and waterfalls that weave through the property. And some of the
rooms actually have direct access straight into the water. Prices for these places can range from
hundreds of dollars to thousands, which is just a little bit outside of my budget. So I can't give
you a room review or tell you which one is the best to stay at. But from the outside, they look
pretty amazing. I love a cold coconut on the beach if you know what I mean. And I think one of the
things that most people make a mistake about Nusa Dua is that you don't have to be staying in one of
these fancy resorts in order to enjoy all the things that it has to offer. I mean I'm not and
still get to go to the beaches, use the restaurants, beach clubs, go shopping, and do pretty much
everything that Nusa Dua has to offer. And it doesn't cost a fortune. There's even some local
warungs where you can go and get cheaper meals. And at least one of them has a place where you can
feed some very friendly squirrels. But does this still feel like Bali? And the answer is yes, but
in a different way. Nusa Dua may have been built for tourism, but Bali is still everywhere if you
just look for it. You'll see temples throughout the area, daily offerings being made, and traditional
Balinese statues and architecture working for the landscape. So even though everything around feels
incredibly organized, the culture hasn't been pushed aside. And there are plenty of ways to
experience more of it while you're here. Museum Pasifika is the largest art museum in the country
with more than 600 works of art from Indonesia and across Asia Pacific, making it a great place to
learn a little bit more about art and the culture of the region. You've also got the Bali Nusa Dua
Theater, home to the Devdon Show, which combines traditional Indonesian dance, elaborate costumes,
contemporary performances, and aerial acrobatics to showcase cultures across Indonesia. And if
you're looking for some raw Indonesian nature, head over to Peninsula Island to the Water Blow.
Waves from the Indian Ocean slam into a narrow gap in the limestone cliffs and force the water
upward, creating these massive explosions of spray. And there were a few more things I wanted
to mention that really push Nusa Dua into that best beach vacation in Bali category. The first
one is its proximity to the international airport. Now depending on when you arrive,
you could basically be at the beach in less than 30 minutes. And if you have any experience with
traffic, even short distances can take hours, which eats into your vacation and is just
no bueno. The second one is they have a 24-hour dedicated medical facility here.
So just in case something does happen while you're on your vacation, you can get treated right here
and not actually go anywhere to get it done. I also recommend having travel health insurance
whenever you leave your country. I use Safety Wing, they've never let me down. I will put a
link in the description down below because it's just a little extra peace of mind that can help
you enjoy your vacation that much more. And the last one is an unimposing security force. When
you enter, they check everyone to make sure that everything is okay, and you also see them around
the main tourism area. I'm not saying you should just leave your stuff on the beach for two hours
while you go and eat lunch, but it's nice to know that they're there. And I know that airports,
good roads, security, and hospitals are not what you're dreaming about when you're planning your
tropical vacation, but if you only have one or two weeks to explore this amazing island, those
little conveniences can make a huge difference in how much you get to enjoy your vacation.
And after spending the day doing exactly that, there was one more thing I wanted to show you
before we answer our big question, and that is sunset, because everything changes here.
As the temperature starts to drop, the beaches empty out, people come out and take a stroll
along the water, the restaurants put out tables on the sand where you can enjoy some food, you can
watch the fishermen going out and casting their nets, which is very cool, and it starts to feel
a lot less like a resort area and more just like a beautiful place in Bali. Now that we've seen
almost everything that Nusa Dua has to offer, I feel like we finally have enough information to
answer our big questions. Is this Bali's best beach vacation and is it right for you? And I think
the simple answer is, it depends on what kind of traveler you are. If you're a couple, have a family,
kids are a little bit older or more mature, as we like to say, are on your honeymoon or just want
something super easy you don't have to think about, then Nusa Dua is definitely the best beach
vacation in Bali. It's kind of like Bali Disneyland. And I'm not saying that in a negative way. Disneyland
is amazing. Millions of people go there every year and absolutely love it. I love it too. And I think
for a certain type of traveler, that's just right. But if you're a solo traveler or a backpacker
that's out there looking for like raw adventure and cultural experiences where you're meeting
the people in little towns and rice paddies, this isn't the place for you. But it could be because
while Nusa Dua is polished and a wonderful place to be, it doesn't mean you have to stay here.
It's a great location so you can actually go to other places with this as your home base. And I
think one of them is the GWK Park, which is about 20 to 30 minutes from here. It has the third biggest
statue in the world. They also have cultural performances and a really cool nighttime show
there that's worth checking out. And the other one that I recommend is heading to Uluwatu, which is
about 40 minutes away from here depending on traffic. And you go to the Uluwatu Temple, which
is one of the most famous temples here in Bali. It's on a cliffside. It's absolutely stunning.
And if you go there at sunset, they do the kekek or fire dance, which is like
Sorry, I love it. Anyway, it's definitely worth checking out and something that you will never
forget. It's also super iconic in Bali and you should definitely go if you have the time and
want to experience a little bit different side of Bali. So I think this place could be the perfect
vacation for anyone if you have the budget. If you don't have the budget, you can also stay close
by, not in the resorts, rent a scooter, take a Grab or a taxi and just come here and hang out
every day. So you have options. You don't even have to spend the hundreds or $1,000 a night to
stay in these amazing resorts, though those do look really nice as well. If I had the budget,
I probably would be staying in them. But yeah, thank you so much for coming along on this journey
today with me. I'm so happy that we got to explore this place because I absolutely love it.
It's one of my favorite places in Bali. And if you enjoyed this video, please give me a big
thumbs up, comment, subscribe and don't forget to bling bling bling bling bling the Bali Makassi
Bonyak. I will see you soon.
