Hi everyone! Maria's back. You asked for me, so there you go.
She's back!
In today's video, we're gonna share five mature makeup tricks that my mom wears by.
I swear, they are the best.
She is the original glam girl, and she is back by very popular demand.
I'm gonna show you the best as I can for you to go look very glamorous.
Glamorous after 60. Let's go.
There you go.
Her very first trick, and this is one that she shared in the first video that we filmed together,
was to actually use primer as a wrinkle filler.
Now, you guys know that I'm not really a huge fan of primer.
I always think that if you're doing a really good skincare, you don't really need it.
But with that said, I'm also 40 years old.
My mom is in her mid-60s, and she swears by this product
and says it actually does make a huge difference in her overall makeup look and the application.
Like I told you in my last video, I have been using this for a long, long time.
I really love it.
But when I came to see Gabriela, she told me,
Mom, try this one because this one is amazing.
I apply the Benefit on my right side and this one on my left.
And take a look, which one you guys like the most.
I really love this one.
The Benefit Porefessional is a great primer.
It's a pore-filling primer.
So if you have issues with big pores, it can actually be great as like a spackle
so that when your foundation goes over it,
it doesn't settle into those larger pores as much.
But it's really cool because if you have larger pores,
it's kind of like having a deeper set wrinkle, right?
It still kind of divots in, so you can use this for that as well.
And I knew my mom loved this.
But then there's the Il Makiage one that came out a little while ago.
And it's really funny because if you look at the commercials, it's outrageous.
The claims are not real, you know?
But to make my skin to be so smooth, like I could not even believe when I apply it.
I'm taking home.
Thank you, Gabi.
As long as you have realistic expectations
and you don't think that when you apply it,
all of a sudden, all of your wrinkles are going to be gone.
Of course it's not.
Of course not, right?
But you want to make it more subtle for you to...
You feel better.
This is more moisturizing.
I don't know.
Yeah, it's like it kind of plumps it up a little bit
and smooths it out before you apply foundation.
And it does make a difference, actually.
Make a huge difference.
Between this one and this one now, if you could only pick one...
You've been using this for years.
You've repurchased this a lot.
Which one would you pick now?
I would pick the new one because I always like to try new stuff.
But I don't know.
Who knows?
One day I'm gonna go back to that one.
But I really love this one.
The second makeup trick that I've been talking to you guys about
for a very long time is actually sketching in brow hairs
instead of doing such a blocky, thick brow.
Back in 2018, 2019, the really filled in,
very strong brow was very in style.
Brow styles change over history dramatically.
And you can pinpoint an era
by looking at the brows of the women in that era.
And I think a lot of us have kind of stayed stuck
in that really blocky brow area.
And I've been telling you guys, like,
rein it in, do more hair strokes, use less shading.
And this is something that I've been telling my mom.
And my mom has a bit of a history with her brows.
And do you want to talk about your history?
Yeah, because I started losing a lot of hair
and I decided to do a tattoo.
The problem is the tattoo is good for two, three years.
And after, I don't keep the color.
So they start getting very, very light on me.
So anyways, I spend a lot of money.
I think I did three or four times.
And one point, I'm like, you know what?
I'm done because it doesn't make sense.
It's not gonna work.
And the problem with microbladed brows
or tattoo brows, when they fade,
they fade really cool and gray.
Yeah, totally.
So you have to cover it or it looks strange.
Yeah.
Right?
So my mom's experimented with so many pencils and powders
because she has the shape to follow now,
but she does need to give it pigment.
But when you have that gray kind of block,
it's like, how do you do it without making it look so harsh?
Yeah.
So I decided to try this product from L'Oreal.
And it's amazing.
They have two little tails.
Yeah, two prongs.
It's a double-pronged brow pen.
I don't like all tails.
Can you say it five times fast?
Double-pronged brow pen.
Before, I put some product to fill,
but I feel like it started getting too heavy.
And now, I just go with the pencil.
And you go like one stroke by one.
And if you feel like it's too light,
do another one on the side.
You see, to make a little more full in between, yeah.
I love this.
And if you feel like it's getting too high or too low here,
you can use the Q-tip.
It's very hard for me to say.
Q-tip.
What's Q-tip again in Portuguese?
Q-tip, cotonete.
My teacher.
So use the cotonete and click on the top and in the bottom.
You like to laugh about my English.
Anyways, I think you guys understand what I'm saying, right?
You guys get it.
Makeup trick number three is one that I think a lot of you
are going to be able to relate to.
Every woman after the age of 45, 50,
starts feeling self-conscious about their neck and their jowls.
I've heard it 100 times.
I'm waiting for it to happen to me.
I just turned 40.
You guys know, skin laxity here, mid-40s,
it is just what happens.
And it freaks everyone out.
And they all hate it.
And they all want to do something about it.
I told Gabi, do you have some tape I can put here?
Look, I lost so much weight.
It's beautiful without tape.
But we have a trick.
You've discovered a trick to make yourself feel better,
even if you have a little bit of loose stuff here.
You see?
And you go a little lower.
Look at it.
Look at the difference already.
It makes a huge difference.
It's huge.
It really does make a huge difference.
Look at the side.
But look at the side.
It's amazing.
It chisels it right out.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Love it.
One thing I do want to tell you guys is that contour can be intimidating.
And contour can make you look hollow and gaunt really quick.
And when you've lost facial fat, sometimes it's like, heck no.
So I know a lot of women over 60, 70, they get really scared of contour.
It's understandable because you don't want to look like you have less facial fat.
So one way to get around that is choosing a contour that goes
a little bit warmer than cooler.
Because warmth is going to be a bronzer.
Really cool is going to be a shadow.
Using really cool tones is going to give you a skeletal effect.
Using warm tones is going to give you like that sun-kissed glow.
It's still going to pop things in the shadow and create dimension in the face.
Without it looking skeletal.
So this bronzer by Merit is fantastic for mature skin.
In my opinion, it's one of the best.
Because it's very hydrating as well.
Like it's not dry.
Yes.
If you put something dry, you can see inside your wrinkles.
Yes.
And this one blends so well.
And I have another one.
The color is darker than this one.
Didn't work for me because I feel like it's too showing.
Yeah.
Right?
Like this one is perfect.
It's all about less being more.
I think when we get to a certain age, you can throw something into a shadow.
But do it in a subtle way.
It will still make a difference.
Even though it's subtle.
You guys saw that it still made a difference.
But the important thing is to put something on the top like more dry.
Because you settle.
It's not going to be runny.
Yeah.
When it comes to longevity of makeup.
Say you are using contour products and creams.
If you want it to last a longer time.
My mom does a lot of aqua fit.
So she has water splashing on her.
And she still wants to put her makeup on, you know.
She still wants to go with a little bit of a face on.
So she sets it with a matching bronzer contour color in a powder format.
This one is Smashbox Kali Contour.
This is one of my favorite.
Very simple to use.
This next trick was one that my mom taught me like today.
So she came into my room and I was like, why are your eyelashes like that?
Her lashes were like.
And my mom doesn't have super thick natural lashes.
Neither do I say this in all my videos.
So when I saw her, I was like, what are you wearing fake lashes?
Like what's happened?
And it's a trick and a mascara combination.
That was very surprising for me.
So do you want to share?
Yeah, because when I was younger, I used to do some makeovers.
She was a makeup artist.
Yeah.
I never learned I could.
Because before I was inside and going up.
And I said, who knows if I stamp the base first, stamp, stamp.
With the brush full, right?
Like when you pull it out, it's full.
So I stamp, stamp the base, all the base first.
She's tightlining with the mascara.
Brilliant.
And after you go and pull it out and let this eye to settle and do the other one.
And go the second time again.
It's a huge difference.
And this mascara is amazing for when people don't have much eyelashes.
Yeah, this is Benefit Bad Gal.
This is an OG.
Who's tried Benefit Bad Gal?
Let us know in the comments.
It's stunning.
It's amazing for thickening.
Totally.
And it really holds your curl.
The next makeup trick she wants to teach you is all about under the eyes.
We have a love-hate relationship with concealer after the age of 40.
And you guys know why.
We have to cover dark circles, hollowing, all of the things that come with age.
But then as soon as we cover all of those things, it looks crepey and crinkly and dry
and awful.
And it's super frustrating.
So for a long time, my mom was telling me, I don't wear concealer at all anymore.
I'm done with concealer.
It doesn't work for me.
And today, she showed me this product that I had never, ever seen before.
So this is from Lee's Watcher.
And especially for people aged like me.
You have to pump.
And you can apply.
And it's very kind of wet.
And when it's dry, it doesn't go inside your wrinkles.
It's amazing.
I love this.
And this lasts for years as well.
So this is a brightening wand, basically.
It's like a concealer brightener.
But it covered my under eye circles.
Yeah, it covered it really well.
And it doesn't look crepey or crepey at all.
And do you find that you have to set it?
Or does it self-set?
You know, you have to set stuff like that.
But when I do, I feel like my eyes shrink here.
And you get like this.
Yeah, it's so dry.
And I don't set anymore.
Like this one, it's completely fine.
Once in a while, I feel like do a little bit wetter.
This is fine.
It's perfect.
You know, Lee's Watcher is a Canadian brand.
Oh, really?
Fun fact.
Lee's Watcher is a Canadian brand.
It's worth it.
For our next trick, I want to ask you guys a question.
And again, let us know in the comments below.
Have you ever put on a lip product, went somewhere,
got in the car, looked in the mirror,
and realized that it has traveled up all of your little lip line?
Oh, you have no idea.
The other day, I went shopping.
And I said, oh, I'm going to put this lip gloss a little more
red, but a little more color.
So anyways, I was so happy.
And shopping, blah, blah, blah.
And anyway, inside the car, I feel like, what do I mean?
I feel like wet.
When I look in the mirror, I sweat.
I was like here.
And the people never told me anything.
I want to go under the table seat in my car.
Like, oh my goodness, this is so embarrassing.
I don't know what.
Who cares?
I'm older.
I don't really care anymore, as the people think.
Whatever.
I just want to be beautiful.
But it is what it is.
And I decided to try this eye cosmetic.
So it comes with the thing.
And you can apply around the lips.
Your lip liner.
Lip liner.
And this part is a lip gloss.
Before the lip gloss, I like to apply a little bit powder.
Because when you apply a little powder, you feel like stay longer.
Yeah, it stops the bleed.
Yeah.
So here's something that I want you guys to think about.
Anything that's low viscosity that runs a lot.
You put on your hand and you go like this and it runs.
That's going to run in lip lines.
Okay.
So things that are a little bit higher viscosity won't run.
So glosses are going to run.
Matte lipsticks are not going to run.
But matte lipsticks will also make your mouth look super tiny and wrinkly.
So I always feel like the balance for a mature woman that is ideal is satin.
Something that's satin base that has luminosity and moisture.
But is not super low in viscosity.
So this is new by IT Cosmetics.
It's brand new.
I was just testing it out.
I'm actually really loving it.
And it does claim to be good for not running when it comes to lip line.
So you have your lip liner, which is wax based.
That's going to hold on to the mouth and it's not going to run.
Take a powder like Laura Mercier Ultra Blur.
If you have very dry skin.
Yeah, this has hyaluronic acid in it.
So it's not going to be overly drying.
You take a sponge, you dip it in.
You work it through your hand.
You apply your lip liner and then you roll and press that powder with hyaluronic acid.
It's not going to be too drying, but it's going to stop everything from bleeding.
And then you go in with your lip balm.
Now, this is like a satin based balm.
It's not so runny like a gloss that it's going to slip and slide everywhere.
But it's also not matte where it's going to make you look old and crinkly.
So this combination is great.
You've been wearing it for hours and it has not run at all.
And I feel hydrated like I don't feel dry.
Thank you for having me back.
