Our first time in Thailand together left Ann completely speechless. 🇹🇭
My Filipina girlfriend was NOT ready for Bangkok’s heat, tuk tuks, Chinatown, temples, street food, river views, and ICONSIAM. Our First 24 Hours in Bangkok hit us with everything!
This was our first time exploring Bangkok together, and I wanted to show Ann why Thailand has felt like home to me for so many years. In this Bangkok travel vlog, we dive straight into the first-day chaos, beauty, food, and culture of one of the most exciting cities in Southeast Asia.
📍 Highlights of Our First Day in Bangkok, Thailand:
-Talat Noi: We explore one of Bangkok’s oldest neighborhoods, filled with street art, old buildings, machine shops, hidden corners, and river views.
-First Tuk Tuk Ride: Ann takes her very first tuk tuk ride through Bangkok traffic into Chinatown, and her reaction says everything.
-Chinatown Bangkok / Yaowarat: We dive into the markets, street food, colors, smells, and chaos of one of Bangkok’s most exciting food areas. We also try dim sum from a family recipe that has been around for generations.
-Chao Phraya River: We hop on a boat and cruise down the river, taking in Bangkok’s skyline, temples, and city life from the water.
-Wat Arun / Temple of Dawn: We dress in traditional Thai clothes, take photos, and experience one of Bangkok’s most iconic temples right on the river.
-ICONSIAM: We finish the day at one of the most impressive malls in Thailand with a Thai street food tour at SOOKSIAM. We try a Chinese oyster omelet, fresh coconut water, and mango sticky rice that was “magical.” Then we explore the mall, find river views, a massive indoor fountain, and end the day with sunset over Bangkok.
This video is part Bangkok travel vlog, part Thailand first impressions, and part Filipina reaction to Thailand — but really, it is about seeing Bangkok through fresh eyes. Ann had never experienced anything quite like this city before, and watching her react to the food, culture, temples, heat, chaos, beauty, and kindness of Thailand made Bangkok feel new to me all over again.
Whether you’re planning your first trip to Bangkok or just want to see a Filipina’s first impressions of Thailand, this travel vlog shows what it feels like to experience Bangkok for the first time.

We just arrived! Welcome to Thailand!
Oh my god!
It's...
Wow.
It's magic.
They are fast.
It's nice. I mean, like, the air is just blowing.
There are so many foods that I've never seen in my life.
Isn't this such a cool neighborhood?
Your eyes are not getting bored of everything that you can see.
Look at that.
I'm speechless.
Today is a big day.
What are we doing?
We are going to Thailand!
That's right. We are taking our first international trip together.
And I'm shaking.
I am so excited to be able to take Ann to explore my home in Thailand.
If you are shaking, I am more shaking.
We're at the Sabu Maktan International Airport.
And right now we are going to head to the plane and board to get this Thai-rific adventure started.
That was cool. Thai-rific.
Thai-rific.
Impressive.
We just arrived! Welcome to Thailand!
We grabbed our bags, got some money exchange slash ATM visit, and picked up an eSIM.
And now we're going to be heading in a Grab to Bangkok downtown.
But first, we need to walk Ann outside to get that first breath of Bangkok Thailand air.
I can't wait. Let's go!
Let's do it.
Ready?
Yeah.
Alright.
Oh my god!
It's hot!
Is it hot?
It's hot!
For real, it's hot!
I want to go back to the Philippines. Just kidding!
Wow!
That's Bangkok. When you walk out, that first breath of Bangkok air and that heat.
I'm so glad she got to experience it. It really brought back some great memories for me.
Alright, we will see you tomorrow.
Good morning!
It is a great morning.
And right now we are in my favorite neighborhood where we're staying in Talad Noi.
Which is like the artsy, coolest, one of the oldest neighborhoods here in the city.
Everything is like machine shops, people working, people living, wooden buildings, crumbling stone.
And it's just a really special place to experience.
And I thought it would be a wonderful place to kick off our exploration of the city.
Yeah, I mean like I was already shocked last night.
Even if the sun is not out yet, everything is just wow.
And speaking of last night, we went out and got her her first street food.
Some crab rice on the side of the road.
That was really, really good.
Worth the money!
Definitely worth the money. And the money was like $3.
And we made her first quick stop by a 7-Eleven.
She hasn't had the famous ham and cheese toastie yet, but she was pretty impressed by what she saw.
We don't have this one in the Philippines.
You don't?
Very wrong.
Everything is just well arranged.
I mean you don't need to go to a supermarket.
You just have to go to 7-Eleven.
That's right.
Everything you need is just there.
Impressive.
7-Eleven is heaven.
That was cool.
So right now we are going to stroll through the streets for a little bit, see what we can see.
And we're going to be heading down towards the water to grab a coffee at a special shop
before we head on to our next places because there is a lot to show her in beautiful Bangkok.
Yeah.
I love these little alleyways.
I'm just trying to like inhale everything.
And you can feel how safe it is.
Isn't this such a cool neighborhood?
Your eyes are not getting bored of everything that you can see.
Look at that.
Yeah, look at that.
That's actually the coffee shop that we're going to be going to right now.
Where are we going?
We're going upstairs.
But isn't it so cool?
It is.
It is so real.
And look at this on the right.
Not only do we have our tea kettles, but look over at the top.
Coffee is served.
I got a bitter cold brew orange.
And I got mocha.
An iced mocha.
And it's really cool in here, but I think we're going to go and head down to the water,
which is one of the coolest parts about Thailand.
Noah, are you down for that?
Yes, let's go.
Let's do it.
Oh, my God.
There's a fish.
Oh, yeah.
There's lots of fish.
If you throw me, the fish would eat me, no?
They might.
You're kind of tiny and delicious.
Really?
No, you're kidding.
I am kidding.
They're not piranha.
No, they're not piranha.
And I feel like coming down to the water, especially in Illinois, is just such a cool experience.
Seeing all the boats going by, all the big buildings along the river.
And where we are right now is kind of like a secret little spot.
You go through a Chinese temple at the end of the road past the coffee shop,
and then walk along the water and come up to this beautiful golden Buddha and this view,
and we are the only people here.
In a city of 18 million people, we're the only people here with this view right now.
You picked a good spot.
I did pick a good spot.
God, it's so gorgeous today.
I know you're so happy to be back here.
He was like, oh my God, I would like to taste the beer.
So many things he misses.
I do, and I especially miss the Thai people.
They're just so friendly.
And this is such a beautiful neighborhood.
If you haven't been down here, I definitely recommend it when you come to Bangkok.
And that's why we're staying here at the Riverview Residence, which is just around the corner.
Got a nice huge room for less than $30 a night.
When you go to the restaurant on the top floor, it's just this amazing view.
But I'm starting to get a little bit hungry.
What about you?
I'm starving.
We didn't have breakfast.
You do not want a hungry Filipina on your hands.
It's okay, because we're not into Philippines.
That's right.
She doesn't have any backup.
But right now, we're going to go and get her first tuk-tuk ride ever and head over to Chinatown.
I've never tried that one.
Can't wait.
All right, let's do this, baby.
Let's see.
They are fast.
What do you think?
It's nice.
I mean, like, the air is just blowing.
I know.
It's so nice.
Much better than the car, though.
Thank you.
Wow.
I haven't been down here during the day in so long.
It's so colorful.
It is so colorful.
But mostly red.
Mostly red.
That's good luck in China.
All right, let's go walk around and see what we can find.
So this is Chinatown?
This is Chinatown.
That's why all the signs are in Chinese.
Oh.
If you want it, let's get it.
I like this one.
Yeah.
Now it's time for him to pay.
Well, if it's for cute outfits, I'm definitely in.
Her clothes are so tiny, they can literally fit.
I know.
This is a shirt.
My boxers.
My socks aren't even this small.
What do you think?
What are those?
Those are chestnuts roasting.
And they're making it for coffee?
No, they're making them for right here.
Look.
And then you buy the chestnuts.
One of those amazing smells in Chinatown are the chestnuts roasting.
Let's take a little walk through this market.
There are so many foods that I've never seen in my life.
Yeah.
I'm sure there's so many foods I haven't seen before.
Chinatown is just like an assault on your senses.
Kimchi.
There's a few things that I know.
Yes, there are.
So are there markets like this in the Philippines?
No, definitely not.
Oh, these are the tea.
Yeah, all the different teas.
Chinese love tea.
It makes them younger and stronger, I think.
It does.
Oh, I love that smell.
Duck.
That's duck, right?
No, that's pork.
Oh, no.
And that one.
That's duck, yeah.
That was a nice little market stop.
I know.
Let's walk and find some food to eat.
Yeah, we've been saying that for a few hours now.
But there's supposed to be a special dim sum place right around the corner here.
Right in here.
Inside?
Yeah, this is it.
So this guy and his family have been making this for like 200 years.
They just make one type of dim sum and they are delicious.
Alright, are you ready to try some of the best dim sum in Thailand?
Yes.
200 years right here.
They added some baked garlic on top, some sauces and a little bit of chili.
Tell me what you think.
I don't know, we'll see.
Wow.
So good?
Yeah.
So tender.
I'm pretty sure it's shrimp in there.
Wow.
So good.
That's the garlic on top.
So you get multiple textures with it.
You get another amazing Thailand food.
I guess it's Chinese food, but it's in Thailand so it's Thai food.
You can have the last one.
No, no, this last one is yours.
I would like the juice.
Do the juice.
That's my kind of girl, drinks the juice too.
Wow, that is strong.
Alright, let's go see if the special noodle place is open across the street.
Let's go.
I am so excited.
This is kai mudan mol krap.
I'm sure I'm saying that wrong, but it's roasted pork.
There's multiple kinds of roasted pork on it and then Chinese sausages
and these very special black eggs that are soaked in soy sauce for days
and spices to give it a unique flavor.
It's like a super real Chinatown food stuff.
Do we have to mix it?
I mean, it's probably a good idea to mix it.
I'll make you a bite.
What do you think?
So good.
And it's rice for the Filipina because she needs to have rice in her life.
True.
It's one of my favorite dishes here.
The pork is crispy and it's tender and those eggs are just egg-cellent.
Now that we've had the calm of being in Hladnoi,
the craziness of Chinatown and some food,
we're going to head for some culture at Wat Arun.
So we're going to start heading down towards the boat
and start this cultural part of the video.
And this is the tourist boat.
Man, it's so nice sitting up above everything.
So glad we're doing this.
I love it too.
Bangkok just has so much to offer.
We're going to have to come back after we go to Chiang Mai and see more.
Yeah.
Alright, so I didn't realize, but when you come from the water here,
you have to go through the temple first.
And Anne's wearing a mini skirt,
so we wanted to get her some traditional Thai clothes to wear.
So first we need to buy a ticket, then head over and then come back in.
How do we look?
Ready to go into the temple?
You look amazing.
Thank you.
Let's go in and get some photos taken and explore a little bit.
So in all my time of coming to Thailand and or Wat Arun,
I've never gotten dressed up before,
but I think today is a very special occasion,
especially with her little umbrella.
Oh, that's so nice. Thank you, baby.
Thank you.
It does feel cool, though.
Yeah.
To be dressed in the traditional clothes and heading into the temple.
Yeah, I could really feel it.
Oh, yeah. And we got a professional photographer to take us in.
Yeah.
200 photos for 2,000 baht plus the rental and getting her hair done.
I don't know if it's a good deal, but I'll take it.
Let the photos begin.
So what did you think of our photo shoot?
It was really, really good.
Even like we are sweating with these clothes, but it's worth it.
Absolutely.
I had so much fun.
Like, you know, like you have to do this.
You have to do that.
You have to do this.
So what do you think of my outfit?
I think you look amazing.
Sawadikap.
Oh, nice. Very nice.
But we haven't actually looked around the temple yet.
So let's go take a look around.
It's so beautiful in here.
How does it feel for you as a non-Buddhist?
I'm just like trying to like take it in.
You can feel the holy, the peacefulness.
Yeah, it's pretty amazing.
Seeing you down there, like, I don't know how you call it.
Praying.
Praying, yeah.
I can feel you.
I can feel your essence.
That's such an amazing thing to say.
Let me give you some shade.
Did it work?
Thank you so much.
It is so hot out here.
And I know we didn't really spend too much time exploring.
But how does it feel?
Is it nice?
Do you like what I run?
It's just not nice.
It's amazing.
We've been inside to the temple.
Wow.
I know.
So beautiful.
And honestly, I kind of feel like wearing these traditional clothes.
It makes you feel like you are really like part of it.
I know.
It really does.
As silly as that might sound, you know, like you feel like you're part of the history.
I really, really enjoy that.
I loved it.
I mean, like, you really look good.
Thank you.
I feel really good, especially standing next to a real princess like you.
But yeah, maybe now is a good time to get out of this heat.
Go get our old clothes back on.
Yeah, and get something to drink like a cold drink.
I love that idea.
We are going to go hop on the boat and head down to my favorite mall in Bangkok.
I can't say.
I know you're thinking, Adam, you're taking her to a mall.
But this mall is a special one.
We'll see when we get there.
Wow.
Is that your first impression?
Yes.
It's huge and it's so fancy.
This mall is not just a mall.
On the bottom floor, they actually have an entire street food market inside in the air conditioning.
So we're going to go check that out.
There's amazing views right up top there.
And the river is just so stunning when you're up there.
There's also a surprise fountain that we're going to be checking out.
So you ready to head in?
Yeah.
You ready for some air conditioning?
Maybe a drink?
Yeah.
All right.
Let's do it.
I'm just wild.
Out here is the fancy food and coffee and stuff.
And then we're going to walk in to the food market.
Are you ready?
Let's go.
All right.
Let's do it.
Look.
Oh, hey.
We're up on the big TV.
We must be YouTubers.
How does that smell?
Oh, wow.
Everything is just wow.
I mean, have you ever been to a shopping mall like this before?
No.
I definitely never have either.
You're going to be bankrupt.
Food and accessories.
All of those delicacies.
Oh, man.
Live music.
Let's go look at the live music.
Look, we found your bugs.
I'm not ready yet.
OK.
We'll wait till Chiang Mai.
But look, we have to try some of this mango sticky rice.
Are you sure this is good?
I'm sure this is good.
OK.
This is Thailand right here.
I trust you with this.
Why pay mango sticky rice yet?
Because we just got here yesterday.
Yo.
That is very interesting food.
That's Chinese oyster omelet.
Yeah, it looks good.
Can we have one?
Yeah, we can get one.
Thank you.
Oh, you started without me.
No, I just tasted.
Can't trust them.
What do you think?
It's good.
Let's just stay in Thailand, guys.
Let's just stay in Thailand.
All right, let's go find a seat somewhere.
Yeah.
Oh, have some of that.
That's coconut water, not like the Philippines.
Whoa.
This is coconut.
That is coconut-y.
Coco-licious.
I want to try this one, too.
Let's do that.
Let's jump into the mango sticky rice.
Wow.
It's magic.
How does it taste, your mango?
I feel like 100 times better than in the Philippines.
Thailand, better mango.
You heard it from the Filipina.
So we're going to finish this up and then head up into the mall.
You feeling full for now?
Yes.
Good.
Now let's go head up to the top.
I think it's coming time for sunset.
We'll just take a little cruise through the mall on the way.
I think you're going to be impressed.
First floor here is the fancy floor.
It's the Dior boss, Fendi, McQueen, Gandhi.
I saw this on social media.
You saw this on social media?
Oh, my God.
I'm seeing it in real life.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
Okay.
Get ready.
This is where the mall gets next level.
Oh, I don't think the fountain's on.
Oh, I see it.
It's on.
The fountain's on.
Oh, yeah?
Oh, my God.
All right.
Let's go check out the fountain first.
They should have, like, speed to come inside here.
Look what we have to get through to get to the fountain.
Is it well?
Are you glad we came to the mall?
Yes.
I mean, come on, people.
When's the last time you went to a shopping mall with a 40-meter fountain in it that lights up?
Oh, my God.
It changed.
Look, look.
Yeah?
He says stuff.
He says, I can't say I am.
I can't say I am.
Okay.
It's incredible.
And then there's a fake buffalo.
Can you believe it?
I believe it now, but it was just wow.
How do they do this thing?
Technology.
And then there's a nice little terrace restaurant you can eat in out there.
Let's keep going.
I know, like, I said shopping mall, but this isn't just, like, a shopping mall.
No.
It's an experience.
I love Thailand.
But on this floor, you can get a better view of the top of the fountain coming down.
And then the coolest Starbucks is going to be on your right over here.
I got my yuzu cold brew, and Ann has her caramel macchiato.
And we're going to go out on the sky deck, which I've never seen a Starbucks with before.
Finally.
And look at this view as the sun is setting over Bangkok.
Amazing.
Cheers.
What a special day.
I can't believe we did so much, honestly.
Like, this is way more than I normally do in a day in Bangkok, but we got to go to Talad Noi.
Check out the art, the calm.
Then we went to Chinatown for the craziness.
Ate some delicious food.
Then we went to Wat Arun, and she convinced me to dress up like a Thai person, which...
I forced him to do it.
And I'm so glad that you did.
Thank you, baby.
You're very welcome.
You look good.
I felt good, and you looked amazing, like a real princess.
And then we got to go on the tourist boat, come over here, check out Icon Siam,
eat more delicious food down in the market, and then come up to that fountain.
And I think it was so special for me because you made everything feel like it was my first time.
Yeah.
And I really appreciate that.
But what do you think of Thailand?
What do you think of Bangkok?
We want to know what your first impressions are.
Okay, this is just one word.
I can't say anything because I'm speechless.
Everything is here.
You don't need anything at all.
It's in Thailand.
It's in Bangkok.
My God, my mind is glowing.
How do you think it compares to the Philippines?
It's nothing.
I mean, I'm not bad-mouthing my country, but this is just totally on a different level.
It is.
It really is.
And I'm not going to deny, my feet are hurting.
Yes, well, you know it's a good day when you have such a good time that your feet are aching at the end of it.
So I think we're probably going to call it a day here, a night here.
And we haven't even been here 24 hours yet.
We already did so much.
We still have three weeks left in Thailand and we're heading to Bangkok in,
I mean to Bangkok, to Chiang Mai in two days for Songkran.
So I am super excited about that.
Oh my God.
You know, it's very hot here.
So we are looking forward for this flashing water.
The water war of the world.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Well, I think I would understand a lot of tourists coming here in Thailand.
I mean, you have everything that you need here.
So I agree with you that there's a lot of tourists coming here.
It's because nothing else you can find.
No other country is probably having the same like this.
So yeah.
I completely agree.
Are you excited to explore more?
I do.
All right.
But we need to rest.
Yes, we do.
So if you enjoyed this video, please give us a big thumbs up, comment, subscribe.
And don't forget to ring the bell.
Bangkok, Thailand.
