Uncomfortable truth - lip fillers don't make you look prettier. we’ve been sold the lie that small or thin lips are ugly. and that if we want to look pretty, we need to get big lips, whatever it takes. look at kylie jenner! the cast of basically any reality show ever, and basically every influencer or celebrity ever! they’ve all got lip fillers. lip fillers have been so normalised, that people get them as often as they cut their hair. grab a cappuccino, get some lip filler. it’s no big thing right? WRONG. lip filler can have some nasty side effects, and yet these aren’t really being spoken about. and besides that point, we’re not all SUPPOSED to have big lips. while big lips look amazing on those who have them naturally, big lips don’t necessarily suit everyone. not to mention the over filled lip craze - wtf is that all about? repeat after me: bigger isn’t always better. and lip fillers have a dark truth that most people don’t know about. its time to UN-normalise lip filler, and embrace our natural lips. our bodies are intelligent things, and our lip shape (generally speaking) is a reflection of our unique heritage and ancestry. so if the beauty standards have got you feeling like you're not good enough, or not pretty enough, or like you need to change something about yourself to fit in - take a look at your own ancestry. it might just change the way you see yourself.
Pity those poor souls who were cursed with lips like this.
How do they even eat?
How do they whistle?
Can they even shut their mouths?
Since thin lips are ugly,
it's lucky that most of us have full, luscious,
pout-worthy lips like these.
Just kidding.
See these lips?
Yeah, they ain't nature.
They ain't even human.
These are artificially inflated, overhydrated,
swollen lips masquerading as the beauty standard.
If you are one of the over 2.1 million people
who had lip fillers in the US alone last year,
this video is for you.
The incentive to make women feel ugly and insecure
in their natural lips is big business.
There is a lot of money to be made
in making women feel ugly and worthless
without the help of expensive tweakments.
Even financial evaluation companies
acknowledge the fact that the beauty standards
for females right now are literally unattainable,
but they also acknowledge that this is the reason why
the worldwide valuation for the lip filler market
in the US alone reached $1.3 billion last year.
Create the problem, sell the solution.
So where the f**k have we gone so wrong
and why the f**k do so many women
feel like they need to have bigger lips?
Let's start with the usual suspects.
I mean, how can we make a video on lip fillers
without including poor little Kylie Jenner?
Possibly the biggest victim of this whole lip filler con.
Unlike her half sisters, Kim and Kourtney,
with their Armenian heritage,
Kylie's ancestry includes mostly English, Irish,
Dutch, German, and Welsh.
Pretty damn white.
Kylie Jenner was never meant to have big lips.
This is why she was created with small lips.
Unfortunately for Kylie, growing up in LA
where everyone and their dog is tweaked
to within an inch of their life,
Kylie undoubtedly felt the pressure
to adhere to this strict set of beauty standards
set and perpetuated by her own family
that at the tiny age of 17,
she began having dermal fillers injected into her lips
to make them bigger.
First, she claimed it wasn't lip filler at all
and quite frankly, she was sick of everyone assuming
that she'd had lip filler
when obviously it was just lip liner.
She was just overlining her lips, duh.
When we asked our remix readers
what they wanted to know from Kylie,
is they just said she has the most amazing lips.
Tell us her secret.
How does she get these beautiful lips?
Well, the color,
everyone thinks I use like one certain color.
So I use like six different colors all the time, so yeah.
She even had her sister Kim Kardashian
allegedly covering for her
with Kim backing up the claim
that Kylie's huge lips were just lip liner.
Well, Kylie's got a lovely look going on at the moment.
Kylie, she like draws her lip like, you know,
and it looks amazing.
Everyone's asking me for that at the moment, every moment.
And I go into her room and I'm like,
what liner do you wear?
She only wears a lip liner, but she's so good.
She's so good at makeup.
Do you guys remember the Kylie Jenner lip challenge?
I wish I didn't.
Pictures of exploded lips still haunt me in my dreams.
Imagine having to go to the hospital
and explain that you sucked your lips
into a shot glass so hard that they literally exploded
all because you wanted to look like Kylie Jenner.
We live and learn.
Despite the fact that Kylie should have access
to the world's most skilled cosmetic injectors,
sometimes she still ends up looking like Daffy Duck.
Not to mention, Kylie's lips have been filled so far
past their natural capacity
that what should actually be inside her mouth
is now showing on the outside of her lips.
And Kylie's lips just keep on getting bigger
and bigger and bigger.
And so with the increased demand for larger lips
comes an increasing number of weird
and wonderful lip plumping procedures.
Heard of the Russian technique?
The Russian lips technique aims to give women
defined, flat, doll-shaped lips
whilst avoiding an overdone, distorted shape.
I mean, maybe I need stronger glasses,
but this looks pretty overdone and distorted to me.
Can you actually imagine getting that many injections
into your sensitive lip tissue?
Very ouch.
Then there's the butterfly technique.
This one looks like something out of a damn horror film.
The butterfly technique involves using tape,
dermal filler, and injecting neurotoxins into the lips
to achieve a more prominent Cupid's bow.
According to experts, this technique
is actually bloody dangerous.
Hey guys, so I have a lot of people asking
about Lauren lips or the-
Not to mention, using UK reality stars,
Lauren Goodger and Katie Price as your models
isn't a great start,
considering both were natural beauties
until they did this to themselves.
When are we gonna learn that tweakments
don't necessarily make you look better?
By the way, has anyone ever told you
that you could get lip fillers on the reg
and then just randomly have a reaction to them one day?
And instead of your lips looking like this,
like you intend, they look like this?
This is what happened to Basia Query.
When you get your lip-
She had a random reaction to her lip fillers
despite having had them twice before.
Needless to say, Basia says she is done
with getting lip filler.
Look at this poor girl who won free lip fillers.
Even though she'd had lip fillers multiple times before,
on this particular occasion,
her lips were like,
oh heck no, you ain't doing this to me again.
So I went to get my lips done yesterday.
I'm so nervous right now.
I've literally gotten better since I came.
But reactions to filler are nothing
compared to if your injector hits an artery.
Oh boy, then you're in for a world of pain.
But I doubt you'll be told that
when you rock up to get lip injections.
Just because they've become so normalized
that literal children are getting them done
does not mean that they're not
an incredibly risky procedure.
After all, you're literally injecting foreign substances
into your facial tissues.
And if it goes wrong like this,
all I can say is get the hyaluronidase ready.
Look at Rachel Napier.
She was at a Botox party,
which I mean, it's kind of already
off to a bad start, isn't it?
When she decided to go ahead
and get a bit of lip filler too.
My top lip was touching my nose.
And it was then that I started to realize
just how much pain I was in,
that it felt like a burning, swabbing, pulsating feeling.
And it was as if my lips
were just seconds away from bursting.
Rachel Napier is one of thousands of people in the UK
who's had dermal filler injections.
But for Rachel, the procedure she had
at a friend's house by a beautician went terribly wrong.
The filler had been injected into an artery.
And it's the artery that runs
from the center of your lip, sort of up here.
So it was causing a mass blockage.
Left untreated, that leads to necrosis,
which is the death of the soft tissue on your lip.
That's irreversible damage.
Also, not to scare you off completely,
or maybe I am, but take a look at poor Isabella Skeel.
She had lip fillers,
and then two weeks later went on holidays to Spain.
And this is how her lips reacted upon seeing the sunlight.
And this is two weeks after getting the filler injected.
Honestly, what on earth did they inject into her
to have her lips react like this to the sun
is what I wanna know.
Now, I know that an influencer's job
is to influence you to do things,
but sometimes it can have the opposite effect.
And these influencers accidentally influence you
not to do things.
The UK influencer, Molly May,
who started getting lip fillers at the age of 16
and went so overboard
that she went from looking like this to this.
See, when you've got naturally petite features like Molly,
big lips just don't work.
I've been getting my lips filled with filler
since I was about 17, which is literally ridiculous.
Like, I just don't like the way they look.
I feel like over the last few months,
I've really noticed how kind of like unnatural they look.
But you can really see how much filler is in my lips.
And like, they just feel really hard.
And it's just time they went.
They have got lumps in, they've got bumps in,
they're uneven.
I reckon in total,
I've probably got about five mil of filler
in these altogether.
Then there's Faye Winter, another UK reality star
and influencer.
She went so overboard with the lip filler
that they pretty much took over her entire face.
These don't even look like lips.
These are sausages.
Check out Helen Flanagan.
This is Helen with her natural looks, absolutely beautiful.
And this is Helen now.
Take a look at Chloe Ferry,
influencer and reality star extraordinaire,
who went from looking like a regular pretty girl to this.
I know you're not meant to say it,
but I really do think that her original lips
suited her better.
And if that's not bad enough,
it appears she's got her mom on board the filler train too.
Just say no kids, just say no.
Another mom and daughter duo who should have said no
is Brielle Beeman and Kim Zolciak.
These two are like the poster girls
of why you should just say no to lip fillers.
Here's Brielle before fillers and with fillers.
And here's her mom, Kim, before fillers and with fillers.
Repeat after me folks, bigger is not always better.
What looks good on someone else
does not mean it will look good on you.
Thankfully, some of these influencers
have their heads screwed on correctly
and have seen the light
and have had their lip fillers dissolved.
With so many influencers getting their lip fillers dissolved
demand for the dissolving procedure has also skyrocketed,
which you would think could only be a good thing, right?
Nope, wrong again.
Although we're told that lip fillers
dissolve naturally on their own
and they're only temporary
and that if you don't like your filler,
you can simply have another injection
that will dissolve the filler immediately.
It is not as simple and straightforward as it sounds.
The drug that is injected into your lips
to dissolve the filler is pretty bloody harsh.
Yes, it may dissolve your lip filler,
but along with that,
it may also destroy your healthy tissue,
leaving you with permanently deformed lips.
And let's also just skim over the fact
that it's quite common to have reactions
to hyaluronidase, the drug that dissolves the filler.
Do you guys wanna know something really gross?
Hyaluronidase, the drug that dissolves dermal fillers
is made from bull testicles.
Whoa!
Not to mention that if you regularly get lip filler,
your lips are gonna get increasingly bigger, right?
Which means that your lip skin needs to stretch
to accommodate the new girth of your lips.
So what happens then
if you let your lip filler appointments
spread too far apart
or you decide you no longer like the look
and you wanna revert back to your normal lips
or God forbid, the beauty standard changes
and suddenly sausage lips are out and small lips are in.
Well, to put it bluntly,
your lips will be so bloody stretched
from all the lip filler
that they simply will never return
to what they looked like naturally.
And to make matters even worse,
as lip filler acts as a tissue expander,
repeated injections can actually leave your lips
saggy and loose,
which would require surgery
known as lip reduction surgery
in which a surgeon literally cuts away
the excess stretched lip skin.
Now, if you have small lips
and you feel insecure and self-conscious about them,
I don't blame you.
We've been literally sold the lie
that small lips are unattractive
and that if you wanna be pretty,
you need to make your lips bigger.
But like I say, in pretty much every bloody video,
beauty standards are not stagnant.
Beauty standards are constantly changing.
What was hot 30 years ago is not hot now.
What is hot now will not be hot in 30 years.
In fact, artificially inflated big lips
have only recently been considered attractive.
For hundreds of years before that,
for certain cultures, small lips were the beauty standard.
In these cultures, small lips were considered feminine.
These people wanted petite, delicate features
and small lips fit right into that mold.
People would have been honestly horrified
if their lips looked like this.
And for good reason,
because lips like this don't exist in nature.
Put it this way, our bodies and as such,
our lips, because yes, they are part of our body,
adapt to the conditions of our environment.
People with genetics and ancestry
that originates from a warm or hot climate
will typically have larger lips.
This is not an accident.
Our bodies aren't stupid.
People who originate from hotter climates
where the air is typically more humid
have large lips not to be more beautiful.
I mean, your body doesn't really care if you're beautiful,
but because large lips also have a larger surface area,
which helps to evaporate moisture and cool the body.
So therefore, the bigger the lips,
the more heat that can be dispersed,
which means that the person who is attached to the lips
will be more comfortable living in the heat.
It's the same reason that people whose ancestry
originates from hotter climates
tend to have larger nostrils
and smaller, flatter nose bridges.
Again, this is an intelligent design.
It literally helps them breathe in the warm, humid air.
Whereas on the other hand,
people whose ancestry and genetics
originate from a colder climate,
say Northern Europe, such as, I don't know,
Norway or Finland or even England,
will typically have smaller nostrils
and a higher nose bridge.
Think about it.
In a cold country, the air is dry.
It's well cold.
If you inhale that air directly into the lungs,
it's not gonna feel very good.
Therefore, people with this kind of ancestry
evolved to have smaller nostrils and higher nose bridges
so that not only would the air be inhaled
in smaller amounts,
but it would also be circulated throughout the nose,
humidifying and warming the inhaled air
before it gets to the sensitive tissue
of the lower airway and lungs.
The same goes for your lips.
People whose families originate from colder climates
will typically have smaller lips.
No, it's not because your body is out to get you.
It's not because you're not beautiful.
It's because if you had full, large lips
in a very cold country,
your lips would be more likely to get windburned,
dry and chapped.
Not very comfy.
Small lips on the other hand,
would mean less surface area exposed to the elements
and less heat evaporation.
So if you've ever wondered why you look the way you do,
why you have small lips or large lips
or big nostrils or small nostrils,
look at your ancestry.
Fun fact.
Did you know that you can actually do a genetic test
at home?
I'm a history nerd.
I love learning about my genetics and my heritage.
I actually purchased the ancestry.com gene test
and found out that I am mostly Scottish, English,
Irish and Nigerian,
which was interesting considering that most of my family
comes from Germany.
Honestly, if you wonder why you look the way you do,
get yourself a gene test.
No, this is not sponsored in any way, shape or form.
I wish.
Before you go destroying your intelligently designed body
because the beauty standard told you
you're not pretty enough,
learn about your personal history.
It might change the way you think about yourself.
Did you know that it took 8,190 people just to create you?
Don't let social media and the beauty standard
make you think that you need to change yourself.
You don't.
Now what happens if you end up getting too much filler?
If you answered nothing because lip filler dissolves,
you are wrong.
There is new evidence to suggest that dermal fillers
never actually break down in the body
like we originally thought
and that instead they migrate to other parts of the body.
How bloody gross is that?
That would explain why girls who regularly get lip filler
end up looking like Daffy Duck.
You know the look I'm talking about
with the strangely inflated philtrum
and the sticky Abbey lips.
So guys, share this video high and wide.
Share it to anyone you know who has been getting lip filler,
anyone you know who feels insecure about their small lips,
anyone you know that wants lip filler.
Tell me honestly what you guys think of lip fillers
in the comments down below.
I am gonna be reading them all
and responding to as many as I can.
I love your guts and I'll see you in my next video.
Bye.
