Wide receiver Carlos Hernandez leads the nation in receptions,
but he's questionable for this week.
What does he do well, and what would it mean if he can't play?
Yeah, so Hernandez, he's been the talking point pretty much every week
for Wake this season.
Really, so Hernandez, when he came in last year from Washington State,
it's really interesting because
when he came over with Dickert as a transfer,
he did not play well at all for the first half of last season,
was actually benched coach even talks about it openly they had
to bench him and in the in the
in the second part of the season he really had
this strong resurgence came in uh really started
in the punt return game and then kind of grew
and grew and his he was a big receiving threat
from pretty much the second half of the season
on and then this season has started and
has just looked phenomenal the big thing
is yards after the catch with Hernandez that he
he is able to make plays with the ball
and i think that's why he's been so successful because
it's lopez setting him up in good situations
but also hernandez capitalizing on those situations by
you saw the first couple weeks it was hard
for anyone to tackle him just because of his
elusiveness his speed he just possesses such great athletic ability
and whenever he's getting so many
opportunities in this Wake Forest offense you
can just see him whenever he's he catches it you
always think he's going to extend that play just
because of his his natural athletic ability so
that's probably the biggest weapon he brings is someone
who can grab a lot of receptions and then
make a lot out of those receptions
but like you said he's questionable um it's a it's a real
possibility that he wouldn't go on saturday
and i think if he doesn't go you'll see this offense
you know really because he's the leading bell cow
in that receiving core by a by a wide margin
you'll have to see them turn to other guys like Jack Foley
is a name to watch he had a really
really nice breakout game against NC State last
weekend played really well against Miami in the
second half too he's a guy
who you'll look to get a higher distribution of targets and you'll i i
think really if that happens you will need
to also rely on the ground game more just because
Hernandez is such a threat through
the air you could see Gio's legs more Deuce Lawrence and Ty
Clark the two running back main running backs they they carry uh
those guys maybe their production
will go up a little bit so you'll see a lot less
of an explosive Wake offense i think if Hernandez
is out
