President Trump continues his pledge to send $5,000 checks to American adults if Republicans
keep control of the House and Senate in November.
Before leaving Ireland to head back to Washington Sunday, the president said payments would
go out regardless of whether someone voted Republican or voted at all.
The $5,000 checks are going forward, and that's because we're taking in so much money in so
different ways, including the tariffs.
Is there a plan exactly how we're going to pay for that?
Trump's pledge is expected to cost more than a trillion dollars and would need to be approved
by Congress first.
Diesel prices continue to increase and set new record highs.
Now President Trump is telling Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacking Russian
oil refineries.
The president says the attacks are contributing to a diesel shortage and causing prices to
soar.
AAA reports the average gallon of diesel nationwide now $6.23, the average price in California
even higher than that, now $8.15 a gallon.
The Trump administration is expected to announce a major change to power plant pollution rules
today.
The EPA plans to eliminate federal limits on greenhouse gas emissions from coal and
gas-fired power plants.
The move would roll back key Obama and Biden-era climate rules aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin is expected to announce the change at a G20 energy meeting
in Houston.
Environmental groups and energy experts oppose the move and say legal challenges are expected
to this.
All right, let's head back over to Sal at 717.
The roads are probably getting a little busier.
Where are you starting, Sal?
East Bay there, Pam and Dave, good morning to you both.
We're looking at the commute on 4 and 680 and 80 in Contra Costa County.
That's pretty typical.
We've also had some slowing, of course, on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge approach.
We had some earlier issues there.
That has become just a little better in the last few minutes, but there's still a commute
there.
I'll show you that people are driving through that construction zone.
Right now, traffic seems to be okay.
Bay Bridge backed up to the maze and the metering lights are on, so we don't have anything unusual.
I kind of like the way this is going.
You're going to see the slowdowns you're used to, but we don't have anything major yet.
Of course, we'll cross your fingers it'll stay kind of this way.
718, let's bring Brian back in with today's weather.
You know you called Andre Dave, right?
Oh no.
I just want to get your reaction.
Oh, please.
I didn't even know.
Dave is right over here.
I'm talking to Dave over there.
Oh my goodness.
I'm sorry.
Hey, Andre.
It's all good.
Good morning, everyone.
Thank you.
Thank you, Brian.
I got you, buddy.
I probably shouldn't have done that, but come on.
No, I'm glad you did.
Who knows?
What if I called him Dave for two hours?
I would not have allowed that.
And the friends at home would be like, what is happening?
What's going on here?
All right.
Back to work we go.
Time is money.
Good morning, everyone.
Happy Monday.
Beautiful weekend behind us.
A hazy shot right here.
And yeah, sky cover is minimal at this hour.
We've got some nice numbers touching down today as well as really into the extended forecast.
What a beautiful shot right here.
What's missing?
Carl and that marine layer.
But there is a little bit of a marine layer.
It's a bit shallow.
I'll share a shot with you in a moment.
Here's the big picture, everyone.
Warming trend.
I use that very loosely today as well as tomorrow.
Numbers pretty close to their seasonal average.
So a little bit of a change as far as this past weekend because we did see cooler conditions.
But here's what this looks like as far as really cloud cover today.
And again, this shallow marine layer.
I've got another shot for you right here.
And this really kind of shows you exactly what we're seeing.
So very weak onshore flow.
This is going to stick around for a couple of days.
And then we are going to see, as far as Wednesday to Thursday, a cooling trend as this system
sinks down just south enough for us to be able to see numbers drop and small shots of rain.
Now, as far as this smoke forecast is concerned, you can see we have a hot spot in areas.
We're talking Ukiah.
So if you're in Lake County, North Sonoma County, be mindful.
Compromised air quality as we move through the next few days.
Temp change, not the most drastic.
And numbers pulling out of the 40s for areas such as Santa Rosa.
Sun rose right around 650, folks.
Winds calm right now.
But again, this evening, we're talking right around 8, 9 o'clock.
We'll start to see those winds pick up for Solano, Altamont Pass.
We're talking East Bay, high wind prone areas.
These are your forecasted highs.
Again, nice numbers.
And as far as the seven day, not too shabby.
Do anticipate cooler conditions and shots of rain once we hit mid to the later part of the week.
All right, we're going to remember our names.
Hopefully you will do the same.
We'll see you back here in just a couple of minutes.
