A new Apple iPad Pro is on the way with a very exciting feature
and I'll be sharing the details right after this.
Today we've got news that the new M2 iPad Pro is finally coming
with the feature we've all been waiting for.
Before we get started though please like the video if you're a fan of Apple,
let me know in the comments if you've ever owned an iPad
and if you haven't already then hit subscribe now so you don't miss a thing in the future.
So first up we've got news on the new M2 chipset powering the new iPad Pros
and according to a new report from Digitimes, Apple has Intel worried.
The Apple M2 chipset is going to be a 3nm chipset
and despite ongoing production issues with the chips,
Apple has already secured 3nm production capacity from TSMC.
Now high level execs from Intel are now meeting with TSMC
and they're trying to secure more production capacity of their own.
But regardless of the outcome, it shouldn't affect Apple.
Apple is TSMC's biggest customer and according to Digitimes,
they make up for 20% of their total wafer revenue.
It's unlikely that TSMC would want to upset Apple
and by the sounds of it, the orders have already been secured.
We've also been hearing many reports about OLED displays coming to the M2 iPad Pro next year
and while it seemed a likely stepping stone, it's not going to be the case.
According to reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and many other credible resources,
the iPad Pro 2022 is not going to adopt OLED technology
and instead it's going to stick with Mini-LED.
While the 11-inch iPad Pro didn't utilise Mini-LED on the recent release,
this time round both the 12.9 and the 11-inch model are both going to have Mini-LED.
Now some may be disappointed with the lack of OLED but to be honest,
I think Mini-LED is in fact more suitable for an iPad.
We get a good display that still has the high contrast
but we also get a much better overall brightness
which is especially useful when the device is outdoors.
Now next up we've got news from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg
and he states that the new iPad Pro 2022 is coming with a big advantage over its predecessor.
Apple is reportedly testing a glass back instead of the current aluminium enclosure
and the reason for this is of course for wireless charging.
Apple first implemented wireless charging with the iPhone 8
and with so many devices now capable of the technology,
it makes sense to deliver it to the premium iPad Pro.
They're also working on reverse wireless charging to allow users to charge their iPhones,
AirPods and other accessories by placing them on the back of the iPad Pro.
Now this is a great move and we've already got plenty of phones in the market
that do have reverse wireless charging but the iPad Pro has a decent battery
and a large surface area so it's probably one of the most suitable devices to do it.
In terms of the overall design, we're likely to see a slight refresh instead of a complete redesign.
The focus is going to be on performance and features instead of changing the overall look.
So it's likely that we're going to see something very similar to last time
including the same camera module although leaker Dylan advises that there may be a slight change.
He tweeted to say that Apple is working on a horizontal camera layout for the new iPad Pro
but he's unsure if it's for the next generation iPad Pro, he just knows it's in the works.
Now in terms of its launch date, nothing's been leaked yet and of course
there's no official word from Apple but the 2020 model was released in March 2020
and this year's was in May.
With focus on the iPhones always in September, it's going to be launched before that
so it's very likely that we'll see the iPad Pro around May again if not slightly later.
When it comes to pricing, we only ever see minor adjustments to the launch price
and in fact this year the 11-inch model was actually cheaper than its predecessor in some regions.
Now nothing's been leaked yet but with that in mind,
we can expect the 11-inch model to come in at around $800 or £750 in the UK
and then the 12.9-inch model around $1100 or £1000.
Overall though it's going to be an impressive iPad whichever model you choose
and for those excited we're now going to run through the full specs,
design and the expected pricing for both.
So to start with we've got the 11-inch iPad Pro.
It will of course be an 11-inch display and unlike last time it's going to be using mini LED technology.
We get a 120 hertz display with full HDR support and a peak brightness of around 1700 nits.
It's going to come with a resolution of 1668 by 2388 giving us 265 pixels per inch.
On the front we get a 12 megapixel selfie camera capable of 1080p at 60 frames a second
and when it comes to the rear we're expecting a 12 megapixel wide angle,
a 12 megapixel ultra wide and a 3D LiDAR scanner.
It's going to be powered by the Apple M2 which is a very powerful 3 nanometer chipset
and it's going to come with a choice of 8 or 16 gigabytes of RAM
along with storage configurable all the way up to 2 terabytes.
It's going to be powered by a 28.65 watt hour battery
with support for wireless and reverse wireless charging.
It's also going to support 5G including millimeter wave for the cellular models.
It's going to be shipping with iPadOS 15
and unfortunately Touch ID is not going to be making a return
so Face ID is going to be the only biometric unlock available.
When it comes to the pricing it won't be a huge change from its predecessor
so we can expect the 11 inch iPad Pro to start from $800 or £750.
Next up we've got the 12.9 inch iPad Pro.
It will again be a 12.9 inch mini LED display offering HDR10 and Dolby Vision.
It's going to be a 120 hertz display with a resolution of 2048 by 2732
and while similar to its predecessor we're expecting a higher peak brightness of around 1700 nits.
We're expecting a single selfie camera embedded in the bezel on the front
and again it's likely to be a 12 megapixel camera supporting 1080p at 60 frames a second.
On the rear we're expecting a dual camera setup consisting of a 12 megapixel wide angle,
a 12 megapixel ultra wide and the additional LiDAR scanner.
It's going to be powered by Apple's 3 nanometer M2 chipset
and we're expecting a choice of 8 or 16 gigs of RAM
and storage is going to be configurable all the way up to 2 terabytes.
It's going to be powered by a 40.88 watt hour battery
along with wireless and reverse wireless charging
and again it's going to support 5G with millimeter wave for the cellular models.
When it comes to the pricing the 12.9 inch iPad Pro is going to be starting
from around $1,100 or £1,000 in the UK.
So there's plenty of leaks coming in and while we can be pretty sure on a lot of the specs
going by the previous releases we'll no doubt get more and more confirmations over the coming months.
It's great to see that the 11 inch iPad Pro is now featuring mini LED
and this will no doubt be an exciting release for many.
Now if any more information comes in I'll be sharing it straight away
but as always I'd like to know your thoughts in the comments
so who out there is excited for the new iPad Pro 2022 and who will be getting one?
But thanks for watching the video if you liked it smash a thumbs up
if you didn't hit the thumbs down twice and I'll see you guys in the next one.
