What's up guys, welcome to the vlog. I think I broke my leg.
One, two, three. Good job, good job. You're good, you're good.
Straighten this leg out.
Let's get a sheet out of this. I want to check this.
By far the worst thing I've seen.
Transport is on the way.
This is a healthy human knee joint. A sudden force causes the kneecap to dislocate.
It shifts far to the outside of the leg, causing severe pain and instability.
9-1-1, what's your emergency?
Yeah, a bit of a cold. I just, we could use some of your help.
Currently inbound to your facility, ETA of about 10 minutes.
It doesn't look great around the knee.
I don't even understand what's going on, but it's like my leg exploded.
He's not gonna be able to stand up. I'm just trying to keep him sitting still at the moment.
Since he fell about five or six minutes ago, he's behind the boat.
It's not good. It's so bad.
No, it's not true. It's okay.
What's up, guys? I just got home from the hospital,
and as you can tell from the intro of this video, I had a terrible fall.
I got extremely hurt, and this whole thing honestly has been really scary and traumatizing.
A lot of you guys have been asking how I'm doing,
and this is the video I want to explain everything from the very beginning.
All right, so what happened?
Just a few days ago, I was down in the garage with Matt,
working on detailing the new yacht that I just purchased.
This is something I've wanted for many, many years,
and I am more than excited to be getting this project underway.
Unfortunately for me, I had no idea that in a split second, my life would change forever.
If you guys are new here, I'm Carter Sher.
I've been making YouTube videos for almost a decade now here on YouTube.
My entire brand is about doing crazy, rare, and ridiculous things, hence the name Team RAR.
I'm known for doing big backflips on dirt bikes,
crushing cars with monster trucks, and jumping off roofs.
So you guys are probably thinking I got hurt doing something crazy,
when in reality, literally the exact opposite happened.
The last thing I can remember is stepping off of this ladder,
taking a big step, my foot slipping across the ground,
I heard a pop and a crack, and the next thing I know, I'm sitting on the ground,
holding my leg, and my knee is literally exploded.
As I'm looking down, I started to scream,
and I called Matt, who luckily was very close, to come running over.
I'm so grateful that Matt was nearby, because I did not have my phone in my pocket,
and there was 0% chance I was even sliding across the ground to reach it.
And if it was up in the boat or on a table somewhere,
I would have been sitting in this spot in the garage for hours,
until someone came looking for me.
There you go, he's behind the boat.
It's not good.
It's okay.
I'm sure at this point, you guys are wondering who this person is
that rushed to my side, who was right there taking care of me,
and well, I guess I can't keep this a secret from you guys anymore,
but I have a girlfriend, and I've been dating her for almost two years now.
Her name is Lydia, and she was the first person to come running down to the garage,
to be right here by my side.
She has an amazing background in nursing, so she knew exactly what to do,
and exactly how to make me more comfortable, and she did exactly that.
And a lot of you guys might actually recognize her because
the first time we ever met was when I got injured before in the backyard of my house,
working to do a backflip on a dirt bike.
She was actually part of the first responder team there.
She was able to brace my arm right there in the field,
load me up into the back of the ambulance, and take me to the hospital.
And well, here we are again today.
I'm hurt on the ground, and she's rushing to my side to save the day yet again.
It's kind of a crazy story of how we've met,
and how it's full circle of how I'm announcing all this to you guys.
But I think we're ready for this.
I think it's time for us to finally announce it.
And you know what?
Actually, hey Lydia, do you want to say hi to the camera officially?
All right, come on in.
Guys, here she is.
Okay, squat down.
You gotta see, make sure you're in the frame.
This is Lydia.
We've been dating.
Oh, say hi.
Hi.
We've been keeping all of this a secret as we wanted to just really work on ourselves.
We didn't want to rush into anything.
We wanted to take things really slow and develop a connection between one of us.
Right?
And this is her first official time, guys.
I'm actually really excited about this.
It's kind of a crazy video to do it when my leg is literally in multiple pieces like this.
But the story does continue.
And I mean, what were you thinking when you first ran into the garage?
I was honestly scared.
It's different seeing someone that you love like that
versus a patient that you don't know.
You love me?
Okay, wait.
Oh my gosh.
Wow, guys, this is breaking news.
This is an incredible video.
It looks pretty not good.
Did you hit your head at all?
No, didn't even fall.
Like my leg kicked out sideways.
Just slippery?
Yep.
Soap?
Yep.
I heard you fall and I thought it didn't sound crazy, but it was just like oof.
And I'm not really hearing Carter say anything.
So I was like, oh man, that probably wasn't good.
And it wasn't.
I started yelling like, shoot, shoot.
Not good, not good, not good.
Kung, something like that.
They said to just get you comfortable and she said don't drink anything.
But I mean, that doesn't sound right for this.
Well, I broke my arm really bad riding a dirt bike.
In high school, I had to get surgery.
Air lifted to a hospital is really serious.
It was my left arm here.
They said don't drink anything.
But it was after a long day of riding and I was so thirsty.
Waking up from surgery in two, three days in the hospital, I couldn't drink.
I kept vomiting.
It was miserable.
So I did just guzzle some water.
So I'm not going to listen to what they said about water.
Unfortunately, I didn't crash my dirt bike.
I wish I could lie to you guys and say I did, but I don't know how it would land here.
Really upset about this.
At this point, the way my mind is thinking is I know
that what's wrong with my legs are that the bones are out of place.
Now, what does that mean?
Does it mean the tibia fibulas have split apart and broken?
That is the first thing I thought.
I didn't know exactly what else is possible to make my knee the shape and size that it was.
OK, this is not good, guys.
Leg, most likely 99% broken.
Don't feel good.
Doing my best to hang in.
Oh, that sucked.
It felt like eternity just sitting there contemplating what my future looks like
and how everything immediately changes for me.
But it was just a few minutes later that the first responders finally showed up.
I knew I was going to be in good hands and finally be collected
and just take it on way to figure out what to do next.
All right.
So what happened?
I was just stepping down off the boat.
I feel like I'm feeling all right, but it's going to get worse.
That's what I worry about.
Immediately when they arrived, they started doing a ton
of tests on me to make sure that I was in stable condition
and it seemed like everything was going OK.
But then I started to get a really bad feeling.
All right.
What are you feeling?
I'm feeling a pulse in my foot.
When the nurse was looking for a pulse on my foot for about 20 minutes,
she couldn't find a pulse.
This was making me think that the injury in my knee
was cutting off circulation to the rest of my leg
and I was going to be in serious trouble,
that I was racing the clock and I needed to get to the hospital as fast as possible.
One, two, three.
Good job, good job, good job.
You're good.
Tell me how you're feeling.
OK, well, we are locked and loaded.
We are on the stretcher heading to the ambulance.
I'm feeling a little bit better with the meds
and just getting kind of secured and knowing I'm in good hands.
At this point, I was in an extreme amount of pain
and I was trying anything to distract myself.
The only thing that seemed to work was focusing on filming,
doing anything to get my mind off the situation.
Not the best day ever, but we're doing...
Things are moving along.
Halfway to the hospital, I started vlogging in the back of the ambulance.
I wanted to capture as much of this experience as possible.
That is when the pain really started to set in.
I started feeling more pain in my leg,
more discomfort than I was since the very beginning of the fall.
Luckily, I was able to get a little bit more medicine in the ride to the hospital
to kind of take the edge off.
But at this point, I'm just so anxious to get into the doctor
so they can take a look at me and tell me what's going on
and how to rush me into surgery to repair everything
and just start my road of recovery.
We just made it to the hospital.
So now we got to unload and get into the hospital.
Pain level is definitely getting higher.
Just trying to stay comfortable.
My muscles are all tensed up and just aching and I can't get them to relax.
That's another part of the discomfort.
As soon as we got to the hospital, we had to turn all of our cameras off.
We weren't allowed to film in there.
But what happened next was probably the scariest part of this entire experience.
The doctors walked in and basically sneak attacked me.
The kneecap was located all the way on the outside,
almost all the way behind my leg.
The doctor took one quick look at it and he reached down with his hand
and started putting his fingers underneath and behind my kneecap,
which is on the outside of my leg,
and started working and pushing it back towards the middle.
As he's forcing it up, the tendons are tight
and it slipped out of his fingers and snapped back into place.
So he had to start again and keep pushing it up and over
to get it to be back in place.
The other doctor grabbed my foot
and started bending my foot straight at the same time
the other doctor was pushing my kneecap over.
I was in so much shock, so much pain during this experience
that I started punching my other leg.
I started screaming and just completely freaking out.
And then I heard a little pop.
It got put back into place.
And the pain at that point slowly started to subside.
But I was completely shook.
I was sweating.
I was pale and was on the verge of passing out.
What a crazy experience.
I literally just had two doctors come basically running in here,
grab my knee, start pushing and pulling,
and popping all the bones back in place.
It hurt. I was faint.
I literally couldn't...
I've never experienced anything like that.
They said that it should start to feel better as soon as that happens.
And well, sure enough, we got myself into a brace.
The pain is getting better.
And there's a chance I could be getting released from the hospital
in just a few minutes, maybe an hour.
They have these things all stuck up on me
because they wanted to make sure I was okay.
They're going to monitor.
They were giving me different chemicals in the IV.
They wanted to make sure I was going to be good throughout the ride.
They were very concerned about finding a pulse in my foot.
And for a while, they couldn't find one,
which they were very concerned about.
From that point on, I got a brace and released from the hospital.
And now I am home.
Since the fall, I've been unable to walk on my leg.
I am able to hobble around slowly with crutches,
but I cannot put pressure.
I can't bend my leg and there's quite a lot of pain still.
So what is next for me, guys, is to continue to heal,
to continue to rest and wait for my next appointment
to figure out what the doctors are going to say,
if there's going to be any need for surgery or anything else.
I'm going to be finding out in just a few days.
I love you guys so much.
And I'm so committed to making more amazing videos for you.
So I'm taking this recovery as serious as possible.
And I'm really excited about featuring some new people in the videos.
Yes.
Now that the secret is officially out, I'm actually very excited.
And I guess this was a very romantic way to do it.
Yeah, I guess you could say that.
So guys, if you haven't already, make sure you subscribe to the channel.
And I will see you guys in the next video,
where hopefully I'm back on my feet and I'm walking.
Oh, okay.
Wait, can you grab the crutches?
Ow, ow, ow.
Okay, I gotta go rest.
My leg hurts.
Love you guys.
Bye.
