Video Summary
AI GeneratedCreators build a high-torque mini semi-truck go-kart by pairing two diesel engines with a single large turbocharger. Through custom fabrication of symmetrical intake and exhaust systems and a dual-throttle mechanism, they create a powerful, smoke-belching vehicle capable of towing a full-size truck, demonstrating the viability of their unique twin-engine configuration.
This right here is our mini turbo diesel semi truck.
And it rolls a ton of coal and makes a bunch of torque.
So much torque that it can even pull
our 500 pound trophy truck.
But that's just not good enough.
So what we did is we went out
and bought a second diesel engine.
And the plan is we're gonna run both of these
and replace this tiny turbo with this much larger turbo
that's gonna connect the two.
And that's gonna double our coal output
and double our power.
Now as it sits right now,
we can't go twin engine swapping this go-kart
because it's one wheel drive.
So what we're gonna do instead
is move everything over to this go-kart
which has the same dimensions but it's solid axle
which is gonna allow us to mount both those motors up.
Plus it has better wheels and better steering.
Now we still want these motors to sit over the rear axle
but right now we have all this empty space.
So we've gotta craft some supports
that our motors can sit on.
All right, now that we have some metal over our axle
that we can work with,
we're gonna take this sheet, weld it up,
and then we're gonna make some stencils
off the bottom of our engines,
copy and paste them onto this sheet of metal
and then we can drill them out and mount our engines up.
With both the engines on,
I can really start to see the vision, dude.
This is looking so sweet.
It looks so cool.
It looks monstrous.
Imagine just sitting in this cart.
Oh, it's jammed.
Yeah, it's gonna be more jammed than it was.
Sitting in this cart in a little semi-truck
with two diesel engines, rolling coal.
That's gonna be pretty sweet.
We've never done something like this before.
All right, now comes the fun part.
We've gotta figure out how to connect the intakes
and exhaust on both of these engines.
And to do that, we're gonna need some flanges.
Now, thankfully, we've already made the flanges
for one turbo kit on this engine.
So we've just gotta double them up
and cut them out on the ArkDroid.
We've got our flanges cut out and bolted to these engines
and now comes the hard part.
I'm really excited about this part,
but we have to build an exhaust
that is the exact same length to the turbo from the engines.
Otherwise, our back pressure is gonna fight itself
and turn one of these engines off.
So we've got this stainless steel 90s from Amazon
and we're just gonna take them
and anything we do on this engine
is gonna be mirrored on the other one
and we'll end up having an exhaust
that comes out somewhere around here
and welds to our turbo.
This gets really tricky, dude,
because our exhausts are on opposite sides.
Yeah, I did think about that.
So I think what we're gonna do,
we're not exactly gonna mirror the design,
but any tube that we add to one of these engines
will just add to the other one.
So say I put a 90 here, then I'll have to put a 90 here
and that will ensure that we end up
with a roughly the same size exhaust.
We've got our exhaust all crafted up and check this out.
Wham, we've got an equal length exhaust
going from this engine to this engine
and it pops up right here.
Then we'll take this turbo
and the turbo's gonna sit something like that.
So now I'm gonna hop on the computer,
design a plate that bolts to the turbo
and then we can weld it up and see how it looks.
Check it out, we've got one turbo
connected to two engines now and it looks super sick,
but this is only part of what we have to do.
Now we have to work on our intakes
because if we don't have any air coming from the turbo,
it's not really gonna be doing anything.
Now our intake is gonna be the same design as our exhaust,
just reversed, so we're gonna come from this side
and go over to this side
and then we'll come up with some kind of tube
and go to the turbo and check this out.
They've got so many options for tubing on Amazon,
I'm kind of addicted now.
We've got this little one and a half to one inch adapter,
so that will come off the turbo
and then just go straight down, should work pretty well.
You can really see what I was talking about
when I said that it's gonna be a mirrored version.
I don't know if it comes up on camera,
but it is perfectly symmetrical, dude.
It looks really good, actually.
It looks super good.
Now I realized that we glossed over the fact
that we made this little collector for the exhaust.
I'm gonna do the same thing for our intake.
It's just two of these 90s.
I cut them in half and then weld them together
and then it goes from two to one
and then we'll go from two to one up to the turbo
and be done with our intake.
Dude, this is starting to look insane.
It looks like some crazy scientific project.
We've got tubes everywhere,
but now the intake is done, our exhaust is done.
All we've gotta do now is pull it all off
and TIG weld it so there's no leaks.
Okay, we've got our exhaust fully welded up
and all of our gaskets are back in.
We have fuel in each of these tanks
and I think it's time for a first start.
Now, you might be wondering why we're outside
and if you've seen our single engine,
single turbo semi truck, it pumped out so much coal
and this is just double that.
So we don't wanna be in the shop
not being able to breathe.
We're outside in the nice sunshine.
Let's give this thing a pull, dude.
Do you think it's gonna go first double pull?
I think what we should do
is we should both hit these compression switches
and then give it a yank and see what it does.
Now, I really wanna test out the throttles on these,
but it's really hard.
If you come over and look at this,
we've got this little screw on the old engine.
So I'm gonna have to undo it with these and hold it
because if you let it go all the way back,
it turns the engine off.
We're gonna try to see if it can roll coal.
I'm really excited because it's gonna be like...
And I feel like we're starting a rocket.
Ready?
Three, two, one.
I can't hear anything.
It's so loud.
That vibrates so much.
I've never seen this done.
Two engines into one turbo, diesel power.
That's phenomenal.
The smoke was crazy.
The vibration is actually diabolical.
My eyesight was vibrating and it vibrates so much,
but it works.
It's gonna be pretty rough sitting in it, but it works.
It's gonna be loud sitting in it,
but that turbo was spooling so fast.
None of the engines turned off.
Both of them were on.
I saw both shafts moving.
They turn off.
They rev at the same time.
This is awesome, bro.
And it looks sick.
All right, now that we know that this go-kart runs,
we need to figure out how to get the engines powered
down to the rear axle.
And right now that's impossible
because the motor mount we made
is blocking where the chain needs to go.
It's gonna be really easy on this side
because we have a clear shot,
but we're gonna have to take these two engines off
and cut a channel in that motor mount
so we can get that chain down there.
Both chains are on and this is looking super promising.
Check it out.
I think that's gonna work great.
We've got one right here.
And then if we come over here,
we've got a chain that bypasses through the motor mount
and it's still really strong.
Now, the last thing that we really have to do
is figure out a throttle
because when we first started this,
I was over there with my hands just doing this
and that's definitely not gonna work.
So what we're gonna do
is we're gonna take this Polaris brake splitter.
That's really cool.
It's got two lines coming out the front
and one line coming out the back.
And these two lines will run to the throttles on our engine.
And then this line is gonna run to this little throttle
that's gonna bolt to our steering wheel.
And hopefully when we press this button,
both throttles will actuate at the same time
and we'll zip down the road.
Throttle's on.
I just wanna test this out right now.
Like I wanna take it for a drive.
Check this out.
Boom.
It works.
Boom shakalaka.
Look at this one.
They're going down at the same rate.
This is honestly probably one of the better throttles
we've made and it goes to two throttles,
which I thought was gonna be way more tricky.
The one thing I'm not super happy about is this connection.
It's hot glued on there, but it will probably work.
And then the line goes over your shoulder,
which isn't great, but it's gonna work.
Now we've gotta figure out how to get this body on
and make it look like a real little semi truck.
I don't know why, but it feels kinda wrong
cutting up this go-kart, dude.
It wouldn't be the first one we've cut up.
But the semi truck does look so cool.
I really don't wanna cut too much material.
So I'm just gonna cut, what's the saying?
Cut once, measure twice, cut once.
That's what we're gonna do.
That looks like it will fit two engines.
Let's test fit it.
Oh, that's fitting pretty good.
Take a look at this.
We didn't cut enough, but it's getting pretty close.
We're just gonna have to cut this off
because we need to clear our clutch.
That looks awesome.
Dude, this thing looks sick.
The wheels really sell the vibe.
It looks slammed, it looks low and wide.
I love it.
I kinda wanna sit in it, honestly.
With the two engines behind there and the body on here,
I feel like it's gonna be kinda cramped.
It's definitely gonna be cramped.
Oh man, it's jammed.
Can you get in there?
Oh my gosh.
I'm in.
Can I steer?
Yeah, kind of, kind of.
You know, style.
What do they say?
Sometimes style detracts from functionality,
but we look stylish.
We got two engines, single turbo.
And speaking of the turbo,
I've actually got something for it.
And it's the last thing that we're gonna do
before we take this out and test it.
I built this exhaust last week.
It's kind of a crude, swindly exhaust,
but my plan is we're gonna bolt it up here.
And then I was reading your guys' comments
and a lot of you guys have been saying
that we need a tractor flap.
And I think we do too.
So we're just gonna install that on there.
This is gonna go on the turbo
and then we'll be going down the road.
This little flap will be bouncing up and down,
rolling coal like crazy.
It's gonna be awesome.
Bam!
We've got a tractor flap, dude.
That's the first tractor flap in all of foam history.
Yeah, try it out.
We've been doing this for two years
and we've never thought to put one of these on there.
That's a good recommendation.
Keep doing that in the comments.
That's a really good idea.
I'd say we take this outside, see what it sounds like,
see what two engines feels like,
and see if our turbo does anything.
All right, we're out at our testing grounds
and it's time to see if this little truck
is even gonna drive.
We know it starts,
but we don't know if it's gonna go down the road.
So I'm just gonna hop in this thing
and give it a test drive.
And if it drives down the road,
we really wanna try to tow our real truck with it
because last time when it had one engine and one turbo,
we towed the mini trophy truck,
which weighs about 600 pounds.
But I mean, how heavy is our truck?
Like 3,000 pounds?
So it'll be a good test to see
if we're making a ton of torque.
I don't think that this thing is gonna be a speed monster,
but I think it's gonna be pretty fun.
I think it's gonna be pretty fun,
but it's just gonna be really hard to start.
All right, I'm gonna crank the first one.
Ready?
Yeah, good to go.
Oh man, it's so loud in here.
Oh goodness gracious.
No.
Our tractor flap fell off immediately.
From the looks of it,
this thing definitely does produce twice the amount of smoke.
Kind of looks like a train coming down the road.
That looks pretty funny.
And he's moving,
so I'm curious if it's gonna be like twice as fast
or twice as torquey.
I don't know.
Oh, you can hear the tow spooling.
It's vibrating so much
that I'm having a hard time seeing the load.
But we're moving.
It's definitely a little louder,
but man, does it make turbo noises.
Let's see if we can steer it.
Oh, not bad.
Not bad at all.
All right, let's get this back to Taylor
and see what he thinks,
because we've got a gem on our hands.
Dude, I can't see anything.
This thing vibrates like a mamma jamma.
Also, we lost our clap right away.
Honestly, I am so impressed with this little machine.
The whole time you're driving,
even though it is the loudest thing in our shop,
you can hear the turbo putting into work.
It's just spooling like.
I was kind of worried it was gonna over spool
and go straight into my head
because of the way that we've been oiling this.
Come over here.
Check out how we're doing this.
We've got a screw right here.
And then we take a little bit of gear oil
and just shoot it down the drain
and it kind of sits in there.
And then we do it every run.
It seems to be holding up pretty good.
We have no shaft play and it's thin enough oil
that the turbo seems to be absolutely ripping.
We're getting a ton of coal,
so much coal that it blew our tractor flap right off.
Honestly, it's pretty quick too.
I don't know if it looked quick on the takeoff,
but it's zippy.
It didn't look bad.
Do you think it's twice as fast as it was with one engine?
That's the weird thing.
It doesn't feel twice as fast.
I'd say we got about a quarter more power for some reason.
Maybe it's the way that all the tubing works.
But the weird thing is it drives way different.
Like when you're driving and you give it power,
I think our throttles are like a little off.
So one engine speeds up
and one engine is like not there yet.
And it wants to turn you kind of like tank steer.
So it's really weird to steer it.
You have to constantly be on it,
but everything else is magnificent.
I love how much coal it rolls.
It's crazy.
Well, before we go towing that truck over there,
I'd say you've got to take it for a test drive, bro.
I reckon it is my turn.
I haven't actually sat in it yet.
And it's a lot more cramped than it was before.
Oh, you haven't even tried to get in this thing?
Oh, you're going to have a great jolly old time, brother.
Yeah, it's cramped.
Now what you really have to look out for, Taylor,
is your brake.
It's really hard to use.
It's right down there, man.
Yeah, I can barely reach it.
You really got to grasp it with your pinky finger
if you're in an emergency
and just pull as hard as you can.
Can you steer it?
Yeah.
All right, well, I'm going to give you a riff.
I can't wait for you to experience this thing, dude.
It is unlike anything else.
It is loud.
Oh my gosh.
It looks so cool.
I haven't seen this thing drive down the road.
It doesn't look real.
It looks fake.
It looks like a video game thing or something.
It is so funny.
But Taylor was right.
With the smoke coming out the back,
it really does kind of look like a train.
Oh my gosh, it's loud.
This is so uncomfortable.
You know, this vibrates more than anything ever, I think.
Oh, wow.
Isn't that just the coolest thing you ever drove?
You're right.
It is quite the experience.
You know, I've driven a few tractors in my day
and this thing is more rattly and louder than any of them.
But it is just crazy to look back
and see a 12 valve amount of smoke
coming out the back of a go-kart.
It is crazy.
It's really cool.
And despite it being rattly and loud,
it makes some pretty cool noises too.
I'm just surprised that we made all of this tubing.
Did something that's never been done before.
And it just works the first time.
Like we can pull these engines once
and they power up and make boost.
I know, they've actually given us no problems.
And I don't know if twin engine one turbo
has ever been done.
Well, we know that the little truck drives,
but the most important part of this whole project
is to see if it can tow more than it could tow last time.
So Taylor's hooking up the big truck to the little truck.
We're gonna power the Tundra off, put it in neutral.
And then we're gonna see if this little semi truck
can pull over 3,500 pounds.
I think this truck weighs significantly more than that.
Like five, 5,500.
5,500 pounds?
We're gonna have to fact check it.
I'll put it up on the screen right now.
And whatever it is, this little truck is gonna pull.
I just know it because we should have twice the torque.
If the math's math and we have two engines
and a bigger turbo, it should be able to pull it.
All right, what's your prediction?
Is it gonna pull easy?
Is it gonna pull after like 10 seconds of battling?
I'm kind of just thinking that we're gonna burn
the clutches right off the bat.
But if we don't, I think it should happen pretty quick.
Okay, just so you know, we're not cheating.
The truck is off.
You cannot hear it.
Now I'm gonna get this going.
Gonna start the starting sequence.
All right, let's get this thing roaring to life, brother.
All right, here we go.
Popping into neutral.
We're good.
All right, let's see if it does anything.
Here we go.
Here goes nothing.
Oh, it's moving.
Oh, we're going.
Oh my God.
It's pulling it.
Moving a tiny, tiny bit.
I see a lot of smoke coming from that thing.
But we're properly rope towing.
Ha ha, this is crazy.
It's working.
I actually cannot believe my eyes.
We're pulling 4,500 pounds right now.
Actually pretty quick.
This is nice.
We're picking up speed.
This is a proper tow machine.
Holy moly.
Hear the turbo?
That was diabolical.
Dude, it worked.
4,500 pounds.
Let's go.
It was rolling so much coal.
Oh dude, check out the clutches.
Oh, they're smoking.
I think it would do a lot better with a CBT.
I feel like that's a conclusion we've come up with
for most of our projects,
but it pulled it pretty quick actually.
It did.
We immediately started going and we were picking up speed.
I couldn't really look at the back of the truck,
but I can just imagine it was billowing.
I got a little glimpse and I was like, oh my gosh.
It was properly billowing smoke.
This thing could tow it home.
We started picking up speed.
I was like, let's just keep going.
Well guys, that's where we're gonna end today's video.
I cannot believe that this little semi truck
was able to pull our full size truck.
And what's even more insane to me
is that a two engine single turbo setup actually works.
When we started this project, I had my doubts,
but it blew me away.

Well, at least we try to,
and make sure to watch last week's video right here.
It's a little Lamborghini and it was so much fun.
That's it for this one.
We'll see you next time.
Have a great day.
