🌀Hurricane Milton: Before, During & After (Ground Zero Reporting)

Hola!

I’m Todd Pitner, longtime Florida resident who has weathered many nasty storms. None, though, made me almost shart my pants like Hurricane Milton did between midnight and 3am on October 10, 2024.

I live on the northeast edge of Tampa…where the most powerful bands of ‘wind plus sideways rain’ hit (5” in ONE hour). The winds howled like I’ve never experienced…you can hear it in this video documentary. We knew that tons of tornadoes were touching down all across Florida — so when those 100 mph howling wind gusts hit, well, damn.

Super scary.

Add the fact that our neighbor’s shingles loved our house and windows. At any moment we imagined glass breaking through and welcoming the angry driving rain to breach our home.

That was the moment when, “Shart, meet pants!”

Anyway, we survived. Roof is totaled and our fence was damaged badly … the winds entirely tore off one gate and twisted the steel hinges like they were made of putty.

But hey, we now live on lakefront property. Bonus!
