In today's video I'm going to show you how to grow mushrooms
directly from those we can get in the market such as cremini mushrooms
In this first part we will isolate the
fungus to cultivate it directly in jars using corn seeds
And in another video when the corn seeds are completely white
we will use them to cultivate these mushrooms directly in bottles
For this first part I will use corn seeds sorghum seeds can also be used
wheat or for example brown rice and we will wash them well not only for
To remove all excess soil it may have but also to wash away
any spores of another fungus that may be among all these seeds
When we see that the water is very clean we will put them directly into a pot
Heat it up and when we see the water start
to boil we'll let it simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes
And once we have boiled them we will drain the excess water so that they are ready for us
Let all the corn kernels drain well
As it is we will cover the pot and leave it at room temperature for about
12 hours or until the next day to give these remaining
spores time to germinate and then eliminate them
At this stage we will use alcohol not only to sterilize our hands
but also the entire area where we will be working
And here I have the jars that I make a hole in the lid so that there can be
Gas exchange because the fungi we are going to cultivate now will need to breathe
And before putting the corn kernels into these well-washed jars I'm going to
Put alcohol to achieve extra sterilization in each of these jars
This alcohol we put in
will help clean any microorganism we might have in here
And as for these perforated covers they will help us have better ventilation
because this fungus will use oxygen release carbon dioxide and we want all of it to be removed
s carbon dioxide exits but at the same time oxygen enters and what we are not going to
I want them to be spores from another fungus that could potentially contaminate us
At the laboratory or commercial level some micro-perforated tapes are usually applied
so that it does not allow the passage of spores but we are going to use one here at home
A small piece of cotton that isn't too tight and we're barely going to leave it like that
Let's rather remain weak and this will give us the necessary space for there to be a
Gas exchange but so that for example spores of some fungus do not enter
And before putting the corn I have sterilized I will turn all the jars upside down
o remove any excess alcohol that may have settled at the bottom of all these bottles
And once we see that they are well drained
we cover them to start putting the corn inside each of these jars
We sterilize the tray with alcohol before turning it over and we
are already ready to put all the corn in
I will use a spoon of this type always thoroughly sterilized keep in mind tha
As we now cultivate these mushrooms in these corn kernels any
Another competitor we have might end up causing us to lose the entire crop
That's why I will always recommend that wherever you are
working try to keep it as clean as possible
I'll put the pot on the outside and also use a funnel
so it's easier to put all the corn into the jars
To fill it I recommend putting a little more than halfway up
a large space of air to allow for good gas exchange of carbon dioxide
Carbon dioxide that the fungus will produce when it breathes so it can escape and be replaced
Back inside for more oxygen so it can keep living
And using the funnel more or less there there
We'll leave it more or less like this and notice that we don't see a single grain of corn
at is moist that has too much water but we have to try to look for
This grain may seem dry
but has already been cooked and is well hydrated inside
And in the case of the smallest jars we will do the same but with a smaller amount
There Here at home when I do this multiplication I
try to make several jars because once
at the fungus invades the entire corn kernel in this case we can store it in the refrigerator
For about 2 to 3 months until we do the planting in the material we use
And now once we have everything packaged we're going to give it an extra sterilization
Nothing because they were at rest since the moment we boiled them
until approximately 12 to 24 hours it is very likely that some spores that have survived
Keep the hot water alive when we boil it then in this moment of rest now
We will be reborn and with this second sterilization that we are going to
perform we will make sure all these corn kernels are thoroughly sterilized
A cloth at the back to prevent the heat from the fire from damaging the base of the jars
The ideal is to add the water so that it reaches approximately halfway
a little higher than the bottles to make sure there's always hot water because
This will help the heat to pass into the jar and above all to ensure tha
Arrive at the center where all the corn seeds are
Here I recommend taking a jar so we can put the water in much more easily trying
It reaches halfway and if it's a little more it's not a problem and one of the issues tha
We can end up with the situation where when this starts boiling the jars can be knocked over
This is how I fix it by placing some cardboard between these bottles
at least to separate them and prevent them from hitting each other
It is directly on the fire and when we see it start to boil we will take it off
It takes 40 minutes to an hour to give it this second sterilization and in the end we will
Leave it here inside until the ambient temperature drops and if we see it boiling too muc
I recommend that we set it to the minimum so that it becomes more uniform
Let's achieve better sterilization and once all the time has passed we will
Turn off the fire and I recommend we leave it covered inside the pot until
Make sure it reaches room temperature before planting and here all the jars
Sterilize them before working and leave them on the counter I recommend that we leave them there
Let it cool completely and leave it at room temperature before taking everything out
Where we work I recommend that you spray the entire counter with alcohol to keep it clean
An extra more sterility and also the hands look at how they turned out it is important tha
Let's not have water retention at the bottom but rather let the water drain so we can see it
e loose grains because this will ensure that the mycelium once it is
Let's put it on top so it can invade all the corn kernels down to the bottom
And it is also important this space of air that we leave here in the large jar
as in the small jars so that we can have a good exchange
Air to help the mycelium grow much better and it is also important to plant the mycelium
When the jar of corn kernels is at room temperature and not ho
because this can affect the entire life of the mycelium as it didn't suffice with the other po
It's the same here keep in mind that I'm doing it with a regular pot here
Don't worry we're going to achieve good sterilization and now I'm going to show you how
Buy these mushrooms at the market and I will recommend how to prepare them
Always when you want them to be more round and not all open like tha
This is because here it is already giving us a signal that this fungus is spreading it's better tha
Make them nice and round so we can have better quality mycelium before working
What I'm going to recommend is to take a small piece of cotton and put alcohol directly
Here let's sterilize as best as we can the place where we are going to work this is the firs
The mushroom cultivation phase when we want to do it starting from the mushroom we bought from
but once we have advanced in the cultivation when we have all the mycelium
It becomes easier as it grows and on the other hand we will spray the entire tray well to prevent it
contaminations a small dish as well just in case we have to support something and don't want to have to
It gets contaminated and then a little bit of alcohol I have a pair of tweezers and a knife to make the incision
Cut the mushrooms if you have a lighter this is even better we can also do this next to it
From the kitchen's hornall more than anything so that the fire generates a sterile environme
Everything around where we will be working we will look for the mushrooms that are mos
Well this type of mushroom that we are going to see has a well-rounded top
The thicker this part is because exactly from here we are going to take it
All the mycelium that we are going to cultivate will be much better once we no longer have it perfectly round
It's better not to cut it too short I won't recommend that anymore let's look for them
The longer we make it to extract the inner mycelium the more we can utilize it
Always remember to add a little alcohol where you're going to use it directly in the kitchen
Touching we could use gloves but in these cases as it is very thick we are now going to try
To find that mycelium that small part of the stem that is inside and place it directly in
These corn kernels and these small pieces we barely spray them with alcohol everything around has to be
It's a very small amount and 70% alcohol so that it only remains on the outer edges
Clean hands let's cut it to remove the entire outer layer that we don't want
Use it to plant all this mycelium we have inside this white part is the one that will grow
We will use it to put it directly into these jars as well the jar just opened
Everything we want to remain sterile is always by the fire
Cut these techniques which we are seeing now we will use them later for the entire topic of
I cultivate medicinal mushrooms and this would be the mycelium the inner part that is very good
We'll put it here above next to all these corn kernels we have
Leave it a little lower and then we'll cover this that I just showed you because I did it here
front of the camera but it would best to do it always next to the flame of a lighter
Horn all in the kitchen to try to keep an extra one for all the sterilization and for the more
We also do the same thing here we light a fire and take out the first part and this is it
The small piece that we make sure is properly sterilized and we place it in the middle of the medium
Corn is covered and thus it is already ready to start this entire growth process
The mycelium in this central part is the best because we ensure we have a very pure fungus for later
Put it among these corn kernels that we have already sterilized here as I told you because I'm telling you
Showing but all this is better done by the fire once everything is planted
We have to take these bottles to a dark place with a temperature of approximately
About 20 to 24 degrees and we will start to see that gradually from the center where we placed the marker
A small piece of the fungus begins to emerge like a cottony mass that will invade all the corn kernels until
The moment I see that everything is white in my case I will leave it on this shelf I have
Here the important thing is that it be dark so that the mycelium can grow quickly and if no
And for example we can put it inside a cardboard box to create that darkness and
How am I going to do this now I'm going to cover it with a black cloth and when we have the whole bottle tha
It will stay white so we can store it in the refrigerator for two to three months and if not we'll make it later
Sow directly in sawdust or wheat straw as we will see in a future video
To do all the cultivation directly in plastic bottles and
to harvest our own mushrooms I send you a big greeting Bye
