Nine goals in his first five Premier League games. A record that had stood since 1992, broken in a month.

Then 36 goals in 35 games — the greatest single-season striker record English football has ever seen. Then another Golden Boot. Then another. Fastest to 50 Premier League goals. Fastest to 100, breaking a record Alan Shearer held for thirty years.

Everyone said it wasn't sustainable. That defenders would figure him out, the space would disappear, he'd come back to earth like every hot striker does. Four seasons later, he's averaging 25 a season and he's twenty-six years old.
