hannahleeduggan: No One Would Help Me... So I Did It Myself!
Aug 3, 2026
Here's the deal. Instead of saying that I've been lazy, I'm just gonna say I was hot out today
and also I was lazy. But the sun has retreated so I'm going to do a little bit to make myself
feel productive, which means I'm going to just bring the cinder block out to the garden
because eventually it needs to get out of my driveway no matter what I do with it. So
I'm just gonna start hauling cinder block. That's all the cinder block.
Because I'm gonna build raised garden beds in my garden. Let me show you. There are the doors
that I plan on using for the garden shed over there and then I don't know where the garden
beds are gonna go but the cinder block does need to come up here so let's do it.
It's pretty and the grapevines are starting to go over the pergola which is really exciting.
It's Hannah's home gym.
I appear to have a baby bird right there. I think it fell out of the nest that they built in my
sled that's in the rafters but it's not moving. I mean it's breathing but it seems like it's not
doesn't have any instincts. I'm gonna try put it back up in the nest.
Okay there's no birds in there so I think this one is going to fit just right.
You're a good dude. Let go. You need to let go. I'm in your nest. Go on.
Don't jump out of there anymore. Are you okay? Trust me out. You all right?
I'm good. You seem good. Don't fall out okay? You stay up there. I have terrible news.
Um the other baby didn't make it. I just checked on the nest and it died and then I just found
this one on the ground and this one's still moving. I don't know where the parent...
I'm gonna bring this one inside because I don't think the parent came back last night
or whatever. I don't know. I don't know anything about birds. I don't know. Uh it has like mites
or something. There's like little bugs all over it. They were on my arm. I just washed but I can
see it. There's a ton of little bugs. It needs to get cleaned up. I'm gonna google. I gotta do stuff.
See all those little bugs? You need to like figure out how to clean them up.
It says your google is telling you not to wash it but to try and get bugs off. I don't even know
how. I really don't know how. I think I have to just put it in this box to be nice and dark and
warm. I'm gonna call like the dnr and see if there's like a rehabilitator somewhere that I can
Hi um I am not near you guys but I didn't know who else to call for um information. I found a
little little songbird baby that is struggling. Your best bet is to call the dnr. Okay yeah okay
um all right thank you. Hi um I don't know if this is the right place to call but I found a baby
songbird uh in my garage that seems to be struggling. It's got like little tiny tiny
bugs all over it and I don't know what to do about it. Unfortunately no wildlife rehabilitators in
that area. The dnr doesn't rehabilitate animals. There's not much we'd be able to do in this
situation. There's no like pointers or like somewhere I can call to get pointers on what I
can do myself. Google is telling me to make like a little nest out of paper towels so that it's not
sprawling and it needs to stay warm. I feel like it's so hot out that it's warm enough but
I'm gonna look into it. Oh my god the bugs are everywhere. I need to wash my hands again.
They're everywhere! I think this baby bird has bug or bird mites bird mites and so they get on
the paper towels and I can get them away from the bird once they get on the paper towels.
I'm sorry dude. I hate to get my trumpet in this little birdie. Should I put it on like a plate?
Oh my god. I'm so sorry little dude. I'm so sorry. This is not gonna be fun. I'm gonna hate this
actually. I know I have to get off of you. I have to let go. I have to get on the paper towel. I'm
so sorry. There's so many on that paper towel. Yeah I know this isn't fun. I'm gonna get these
bugs off of you. I'm sorry baby. I don't even know how to give you water. I'm so sorry. I'm gonna go
get you away from these bugs. He's trying to hold on to me. You cannot. He's covered in these guys.
Okay buddy is at least alert and chirping and I think I've got a lot of the mites off of him.
Google's saying to put up like a faux nest like take the other nest down because it's obviously
infested with mites and put up like a new nest. Probably like a tupperware or something so
I'm gonna do that and then set up a recording to see if the parent comes in and
feeds it and if not I'm gonna have to figure it out. Oh they're still going. They're everywhere.
Okay I have buddy in his box but I need to go remove the old nest. I'm gonna go do this and
we're gonna bring buddy back out and hopefully his parents come around.
Makes me feel so bad. I just like put this guy back in the infested nest and had no idea
and he's just dead in there. That makes me so sad. I'm gonna do a few more rounds of cleaning with our
new buddy and then we're gonna put the box up there and hopefully the parents hopefully the
parents come feed him. He's squawking like nobody's business. We're trying baby. Okay?
I'm trying. We're gonna bring you back in the garage all right? Okay me and babe are going
to the garage. I don't think you have all your bugs off of you dude but I'll keep checking on you.
Swamp these. Swamp these out everyone's mom. But for now your parents just need access to you
because you're hungry. I can tell. I know. I hear you. You're really freaking cute.
What are we gonna do about you? Okay now the trick is that I'm gonna leave you to babysit
because I need to know if the mom comes back or one of these parents you know. Do they think
they're coming back? Or the dad or whoever the parent is. Both parents? I don't know.
Uh they didn't come back so I have our little buddy in a box. It's quite warm so I think
they're okay. I have fleece over them so it should be warm enough. It's like 80 degrees
out right now so it's that should be fine. They finally stopped squawking. I've been doing a lot
of reading on the internet. The internet as much as I really wanted to try figure out how to feed
this baby because it was really aggressively asking for food. Um the internet said don't.
It has a better chance of just making it through the night as opposed to me potentially
******* up the feeding which honestly I get because of the baby mice. Um they can aspirate.
They can choke on the food. Um I guess they don't usually get fed during the night so they go into
a state of like fasting. So I've checked on it a few times. It's asleep. It's breathing and I'm
gonna wake up very early and I'm gonna try put the this new nest that I made up back up in the
rafters in early early early morning because that's when the feeding usually happens and
hopefully the parents come back. Oh my god yay mama found birdie. I love that and now I hear
something trying to get out of the box. He is happening. Oh my god what are you doing?
What are you doing? There you go. There you go. Good job.
There you go.
All right.
What an eventful 12 past hours. There's also a mouse that I caught in the kitchen so I gotta take
that out. It just doesn't end. Hello. I am at uh this is where I got the bathtub delivered.
Look at how beautiful it is out there. My favorite time of day. Here's the bathtub.
So there used to be a bathtub here. I ripped it out because it was purple and also I wanted to
put a window in. So I put a window in but now there's nothing there's nothing here and it's
really hard to stay here for a very long time because you can't shower. So my stepdad is coming
over to help me kind of like noodle through getting the bathtub in there so the plumbers
who are coming next week can plumb it in because this bathtub is a little like very slightly longer
than the last one. So we're trying to see if we can notch out the studs just like the tiniest bit
to the lip or if we need to move the faux stud wall back where the plumbing is which is a bigger fix.
He doesn't like being on camera so he's probably going to be cropped out
and his voice muted. Tis what it is. I almost got the bath. I was like oh ----.
Thank you. That's probably good. Wow my arms are tingly already.
Oh my arms hurt. Maybe I'll make you do the other one. The plumbing's all getting moved back
slightly. We're gonna bring the tub in and we have to lay the tub down and so right now with these
studs in here the tub would hit them so we have to take those out. That way we can set the tub
down we can see how it sits and we can put in like the stringers and stuff which we're gonna do later
but um for now we're just getting that out so we can bring the tub in.
Oh oh nice. Should I cut this other one because the plumbing is right up on that one.
Oh **** I got my butt. Shit!
I well we I I cut through them. I was cutting through this you couldn't see it because you
but I was cutting through it and my saw just went and now there's a there's a nice little
hole right there so we just had to deal with that but luckily the plumber's coming so I could be
more mad about it. I'm not mad about it. We're just doing some of their work for them. We could
just keep going. Should we just cut out the pipes from. Hey hey. Well friends there's a bathtub.
That's so exciting. Look at that. I need to try something. Please hold. Oh it's so deep.
It's a soaker. I'm gonna be able to take a nice. I can't believe that at some point
there's going to be beautiful tile in here and I can sit here and I can look at the trees
out the window because I cut a window into my house. It's so cool to know you can just change
things and you can figure things out and you can do it. Okay I'm getting out of the bathtub now.
This was very exciting. This is a very good very good time. Very good things happening. We must go.
