Besties, welcome or welcome back to the channel.
I have so much joy in my heart today
to go thrifting with you.
We are actually at Armadillo Antique Mall
here in Phoenix, Arizona,
one of the best antique malls ever.
I'm so excited because we are doing
a Gilmore Girls home decor thrift.
Okay, so last year we did a Gilmore Girls video,
but it was for clothes.
And I loved finding cute outfits,
but I wanna cultivate my home like Lorelai's.
It's so cozy with blankets and books and mugs
and just like quirky early 2000 items.
I mean, I'll show you the inspo on the screen
so you can pick up what I'm laying down,
but essentially it's just adorable cottage core items.
I mean, Lorelai and Rory just had the cutest little home
that you came back to see every single week.
So let's head in and see what we find
and do a little haul at the end.
Okay, I gotta show y'all my thrifting outfit today.
I got my Lululemon biker shorts on, yes,
and my Jesus Loving Mama shirt
from my friend Wild Fig Collective,
my Barnes and Noble book bag, and my hydro jug.
Because if you didn't just see the sun shining on my face,
it's like a thousand degrees out.
So let's head in.
I love these bowls.
Look how cute, $18 for this large bowl.
So cottage core, and then they have a set up here for 14,
and then this will get you for $9.
In the Gilmore Girl home are books, of course, right?
With Rory, and look at how beautiful these are.
So there's a full set, but look at the color in the spine.
So pretty.
I love it.
Are there pictures?
Automobiles, and there's all these different colors,
which are so pretty.
Okay, while I'm looking through all these little treasures,
I feel like we have to talk about
one of the most iconic things about Gilmore Girls,
which is the town of Stars Hollow.
Stars Hollow is fictional, obviously,
but the whole town was designed to feel
like this quirky, cozy little community
where everybody knows everybody.
And honestly, I think that's a huge reason
so many of us still love this show.
You're asking $40 for this basket,
and I just had to show this to you how cute it is.
It's hand-painted with all these different stores and homes.
Oh, it's just so precious.
I mean, I don't really need it for anything,
but I feel like this would be in the Gilmore Girls home
because it's so unique.
I could see Lorelai definitely stocking this
in the living room.
Lee Mollie Pyrex.
Are y'all ready to see this?
Let me flip the screen.
Holy cow, I don't think I've ever seen this much Pyrex.
This whole set is $200.
Look at how beautiful this orange is.
This is so Lorelai Rory Gilmore.
Just that cozy colors.
Oh, so cute.
Oh no, okay, I found my favorite.
This wins for $189.
Are you kidding me?
With mushrooms?
So cute.
If you've been on my channel for some time,
you know I'm looking for a brown shelf for my kitchen area.
So I'll definitely be on the hunt for that as well.
But I think I just found my favorite cottagecore booth today.
Let's check it out.
And I think that's something we crave more than we realize
is that familiarity and having places that feel like home.
Also, can we talk about how much our environments
affect our mental health?
There is something about surrounding yourself
with things that are warm and familiar and meaningful
that make your home feel like a place
where your nervous system can exhale.
And finding similar pieces that you redecorate with
every year is that feeling of home.
Okay, this next section is basically making me want
to move to Star Hollows and open a little antique shop.
And speaking of Gilmore Girls,
one of my favorite things about this show
is that the characters are just so relatable
and incredibly imperfect.
Like these people are messy, y'all.
Talk about gossip, they avoid conversations,
they get jealous, they say things they regret,
and they love people deeply.
And then sometimes you get people
that just like misunderstand each other and there's feuds.
This is probably what makes the show
feel so real as a therapist.
One thing I wish more people understood
is that having unhealthy patterns
doesn't mean you're a bad person.
Sometimes it means that you've learned a coping mechanism
that helped you survive something
maybe earlier in your life.
And now that same coping mechanism is causing problems,
but that doesn't mean at your core that you're a bad person.
We see this all over Gilmore Girls.
Lorelai, for example, is incredibly independent.
She built her whole life for herself
and became very good at taking care
of everything on her own.
And independence can be a really beautiful thing,
but sometimes independence
is in the form of self-protection.
And I think there's a big difference
between I'm capable of doing this myself
and I don't feel safe depending on anyone else.
And I think that distinction is just really important.
Healing doesn't necessarily mean
that we have to be so independent.
Sometimes healing means I can do this by myself,
but I really don't have to.
I can reach out to a therapist,
I can reach out to my family.
And honestly, that's one of my favorite little themes
to notice when I re-watch this show.
The characters are constantly learning
how to let people in.
Okay, these two things would definitely be
in the Gilmore Girls' home if they could.
A popcorn machine and a Diet Coke cooler.
Yes, I could totally see Lorelai doing that.
That what so much of adulthood is.
Learning how to communicate what we need.
Y'all, look at this shelf.
I've only seen these on Facebook Marketplace,
but I love the teacup dividers.
This whole thing is just absolutely gorgeous.
I love these gold secretary lamps.
This would be really cute.
39.99, that's actually not bad at all,
but this would be cute in my sewing room
when I just need a little bit of extra light.
But that is definitely a Gilmore Girls' type of lamp.
Oh, they have another one over here.
This is really cool too.
This is $20.
It's a really good price for a desk lamp.
They are definitely vintage.
Look how cute this is.
In the TV show, doesn't Lorelai have a telephone
on the wall?
I think she does.
So this is just the best.
Learning to apologize.
Learning that vulnerability doesn't make us weak.
And maybe that's why we keep showing back up
to Stars Hollow.
Maybe that's why I do.
Ooh, I wanna show you all this.
I think these are so cool.
$25.50.
And then this one is 30.
Look at those beautiful oil lamps.
I just think these are so cool.
These would be fun to collect
because there's just so many different types you could find.
So this is a early 1900s National Register,
model number 730.
They're asking $400.
That is so cool.
Oh my gosh, just seeing this piece of history.
Oh, and then look, that's where all the numbers are.
This is really cool.
I love this.
When I go thrifting or I go antiquing,
I like doing themes because it keeps me on focus,
especially at these antique malls.
There's so many booths.
As you can see, I'm surrounded by so much stuff.
It's nice to go in with a theme
to keep your brain centered.
But at the same time, I'm walking around,
I'm looking at Pinterest,
at the Gilmore Girl home,
and it's honestly just cozy.
It's cottagecore, it's cozy.
It makes you feel like home.
So as we continue,
I'm just gonna find things
that maybe don't fit their home perfectly,
but are just cozy and feel like home.
Let's keep looking.
This is a brass bell for $40.
It's really beautiful.
Because underneath the coffee
and the ridiculous town meetings
and extremely questionable romantic decisions,
okay Rory, these characters
are all looking for the same thing,
a place where they belong.
This purse is so beautiful.
$35.
Oh my gosh, I love carpet purses.
I think they are so beautiful.
Y'all may not know,
but I do collect vintage purses.
I bought three from Rhode Island
when I went to go see my family
and they just have really fun,
like really antique.
They're from like the 1800s purses.
I don't know when these would be.
Needlepoint, $50.
And it says there's a mirror too.
Look at this beauty.
Oh my gosh, she's so pretty.
A lot of these old-timey purses,
if you open them up,
there's a little mirror inside.
And yep, this one comes with a little pocket mirror.
All my purses at home do too,
that are vintage.
So that's really fun.
And then it looks like
there's a name engraved on here,
Elizabeth Wilford.
So it could be the purse,
it could be the girl
or it could be the brand.
I'm not too sure.
I would have to do a little bit more research,
but holy cow,
these are so beautiful.
I could totally see Rory
taking these out at Yale.
Beautiful.
I'm in, the booth I'm in right now
is just very relaxing.
I love the colors.
I love the cohesiveness of everything
and they really curated it beautifully.
I'm gonna flip the screen
so you can see what I'm looking at right here.
This beautiful piece of furniture
with brass.
That is interesting photo of a man.
But yeah, I just love this whole booth.
It's just cozy to be in here.
Atmospheric.
Look at this beautiful desk.
I could just see myself cozying up,
writing letters to friends.
Well done person that owns this booth.
You did an amazing job.
Okay, so this right here
is definitely a dream desk for me
from the size to the wood color.
I love, I love the hardware.
It's beautiful.
And then you have this pretty secretary up here.
I'm just gonna move this little guy
and you can open this up,
store beautiful things.
Like I just love this desk.
I have an issue.
I need to stop buying desks
because I've already like bought three,
given three away.
I'm using one right now in my sewing rooms.
My husband's like no more desks.
So, you know, they don't say in the Gilmore Girls show
if Lorelai has a hope chest of things of Rory's
when she was little and growing up.
I love this.
I have a feeling that if Lorelai did have a hope chest,
it would look like this.
This is $60.
It says wood storage chest,
but a hope chest is just like where you
have your kiddos clothing
and things that you wanna hold onto.
This is absolutely beautiful.
I would love to, in the future,
get a wooden box, an antique box like this
for my own kiddos items.
Okay, so this is really cool.
This is a post box.
It says key.
I don't know, pick up keys after sale.
So there are keys for every single one of these.
How cool is that?
Let me give you a closer look.
What a cool antique piece to have in your home.
It's $1,200.
Yikes, not getting it today.
Fun little Gilmore Girls facts here while we thrift.
The show is famous for its ridiculously fast dialogue
and the scripts were actually written
with the unusually high number of words per minute,
which makes me feel a little better
about the fact that I can somehow talk this much
while shopping.
I think this is also why thrifting
and nostalgic shows go together so well.
Nostalgia can give us these little emotional connections
to another time in our lives
and sometimes that feeling of familiarity
is incredibly comforting.
And Gilmore Girls is basically nostalgia
in television form.
You see the coffee shop, the old books,
the little town, fall leaves.
It creates this world that feels slower than real life
and maybe that's what I'm really craving this year
as we romanticize Star Hollow.
Just sit down with a coffee cup to know your neighbors.
Okay, thrifting besties, it's time for the haul.
I'm only picking up two things today
that gave me that homey feel that I actually need.
One thing I say in my videos is we can admire
without always having to acquire.
So I love going to places like this
where the items are beautiful,
they're just more expensive as they should be.
It takes a lot of time to curate
and get your booth ready and all those things.
So I wanted to show you two smaller items
I'm gonna be putting in my sewing room.
I thought this was so cool.
It's for $5 and it's just rolled up pieces of paper.
I love this and it's vintage pieces of paper,
which is so fun.
I think this is so cute and decorative.
It would be adorable in a hutch
when I get one for all my fun antiques.
This one is so beautiful for $38.
It's a vintage spool with vintage lace.
Are you kidding me?
How beautiful will this be in my sewing room?
I'm gonna put it up away from the kids, obviously,
because the twins will just destroy it.
But how beautiful is this lace?
I hope watching this video,
you got some inspiration of how you can decorate your home
and really bring that cozy cottagecore feeling.
If you stuck around to the end of this video,
go ahead and comment down below,
La La Luke's, because we love Luke's Diner, okay?
Who doesn't want to go there and just drink all the coffee?
And the La La is an ode to the song
that starts every episode.
La, la, la, la, la.
I know y'all know exactly what I'm talking about.
Go watch some Gilmore Girls
and find something to smile about before you go to bed today.
Bye, friends.
