Four Notes That Changed Music Forever | Beethoven's Symphony No. 5

Da-da-da-DUM. Four notes, and one of the most famous sounds in music history.
Beethoven wrote his Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67, while he was steadily losing his hearing. From a single short-short-short-LONG rhythm he built a whole movement, and that motif returns again and again, sometimes powerful, sometimes almost hidden. The symphony moves from struggle in C minor to triumph in C major.
It's often described as "Fate knocking at the door," though whether Beethoven really said that remains uncertain.
More than 200 years later, it still moves millions.
We all face different challenges in life. Fate may knock differently on everyone's door, but how we respond can shape our story.
