So this is the dishwasher. This is a commercial dishwasher. So to turn on the dishwasher,
there's a panel down here with different buttons. We'll just hit this green on button to turn on
the dishwasher. And it takes a few seconds to get it, the image to come up with the temperature.
And then whenever you're using the dishwasher, there's a note on it that
it helps you remember to turn on this fan when using the dishwasher over here. So make sure it's
on. It helps with the ventilation. So for the dishwasher, there's three different
racks that get used depending on what pan you use, what plate to put into the dishwasher. So
your racks that you'll find some up here above the sink. And then we have this baking sheet rack
that's located under the work tables on the bottom. So this is what the baking sheet rack
looks like. You can see that it's big enough to fit this sheet pan, which is real important to
remember when you're ever using a baking sheet that you want to use this baking sheet rack.
There's a note up here in case if you forget, because although this pan does fit in another
rack, it will get jammed in the dishwasher and then the door won't be able to open.
So again, just make sure you use this rack or else it's going to be a lot of problems.
So we have another rack that has dividers in it. So this rack is usually used for if you have
plates, cups to keep them divided. Our another rack is just completely empty. So use this one
for silverware, measuring cups to spread out. And always remember, I'm sure you've learned it
in other classes, but whenever you have silverware, you want to wash it twice through the dishwasher
just to make sure it's free of food and debris on that silverware. So when it's time to load up
and you have a sheet completely full, the best you can, you always want to make sure that the
rack is as full as it can be before using the dishwasher, just so we're more efficient and not
wasting water. So when your rack is full, you just slide it right in to the dishwasher and it just
fits right here. So just one tray goes in at a time. And then as soon as you're ready, you just
pull down the lever on the dishwasher and then the dishwasher will automatically start up and
wash the dishes. And remember, you want to make sure that fan's on that. I already showed you
how to do. And then you'll be able to hear when the dishwasher has stopped working.
It takes about like two minutes. It's really quick. And then as soon as it's done, you'll just open
this door again. And you always want to make sure that you pull out any of your racks, always to this
side. And you'll just set it here. And you just want to let the dishes air dry because they're
going to be really hot. And just let them air dry in the water and don't use a rag or anything to
wipe them down. Just let the air dry them out and sanitize them. So when it's time to finish up and
you're done with the dishwasher, if no other people are using it, often you'll probably never have to
do this because people are always in the lab on a lab day. You'll first want to turn off the dishwasher
down here using the red off button. And then we'll have to drain the dishwasher because this
compartment has gotten filled up with water. So to drain the dishwasher, there's this lever
right here. And you'll just gently raise it up. And underneath the sink, water starts coming out.
And that's how you'll drain it. And then in the dishwasher, there's this little basket.
And right now it's clean, but when you're doing the dishes and everything, it's going to be full
of food. Sometimes you'll find a fork or something that flew off. So you'll want to wash it out in
the sink, making sure it's all cleaned out and no silverware or anything are in it. And then you'll
just want to put it back in the dishwasher in this little compartment. So once you've done all
of that, it's off. You'll want to make sure when you leave, you leave the dishwasher up and that
your fan's off. And then you'll place all your baking, your dish racks in the right place. So
that is the dishwasher.
