WHO HIT AND KILLED A UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN AND THEN JUST TOOK OFF? THAT'S WHAT THE FAMILY
OF DAVID NORRIS WANTS TO KNOW. ONE YEAR SINCE HIS TRAGIC DEATH, THEY'RE STILL ASKING FOR
ANSWERS. OUR REG CHAPMAN HAS THEIR PASSIONATE PLEA.
Phil and Julie Norris sit hand in hand as they have this entire year, waiting on news
they hope will bring them closure when it comes to the tragic crash that claimed the
life of their only son.
It would just be nice to know.
We're not angry or bitter. We just want to know what happened to our son.
It was a year ago Thursday. 39-year-old David Norris went for his normal walk around Lake
Nokomis in Minneapolis. He had just gotten off work as a librarian at St. Catharines
University when a driver hit him and took off.
Just said they laid there all night. Somebody found him in the corner.
About 11 hours in the snow bank down there at the south end where Lake Nokomis is and
Cedar Avenue.
A year later, police say the investigation into the deadly hit and run is still active,
but so far no leads or arrests.
Because of the lack of debris in the accident site, the detective felt like it might have
been a truck or even he called it a snow plow.
This family is asking for your help.
Someone knows someone who knows. And it's possible that the person was impaired and
maybe even didn't realize what had happened.
The Norris's remain hopeful someone will come forward with information that gives
them closure. Until that happens, they have memories of how special David was to all
who knew him.
He was just one of those kids. He was just very curious and creative.
He was a musician. As a boy, he was writing plays and stories.
David's incredible musical talent, his work in inclusion, diversity and access for all
will be missed. His life a story worth telling, but first healing that begins with knowing
what happened on Cedar Avenue a year ago today.
Big hole. For friends and family. Just a big hole.
