Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe speaker transforms her home from a \"coastal cottage\" vibe to a cozy, earthy autumn aesthetic. By utilizing a color palette inspired by a Monet painting, she replaces light pastels with muted earth tones, incorporating thrifted decor, non-toxic cleaning practices, and seasonal textiles to create a warm, lived-in atmosphere across her living room, kitchen, and coffee nook.
Well, babes, we are officially at that point.
That point where the leaves are changing,
pumpkin spice is in the air,
and this house is about to get the cozy cottage makeover
that it oh so deserves.
Because you and I, we're doing it together.
I guess you could definitely say
that I am so ready to cozy-fy this home.
Because I mean, come on,
the pieces that I've been able to find,
and thrift, and curate, and collect over time.
I mean, this is just some of them.
Taking a look, you guys can see the direction
of where we're headed with this.
And that is in the earth tones.
I have told myself that this is not gonna be
a beige and neutral fall.
I want this to be a fall full of color,
but colors that are more muted, and earthy, and warm.
Patterns like gingham and plaid
that just give me all of the warm feels.
Woods and baskets in some darker tones too.
We're gonna be swapping curtains, adding pillows,
changing up florals, and basically just infusing
a little bit of that pumpkin spice
into every nook and cranny of this home.
And if you wanna know what it is
that inspired this entire color palette, it is this.
One of my most iconic thrift finds,
an absolutely beautiful Monet art piece
that I am just so excited to hang up in my living room.
And you can just see, this and this,
it just goes together so well.
You guys saw me thrift it.
I have been waiting months to put this up,
and now is the perfect timing.
So with that being said,
I think we should officially go ahead and start
with where this beautiful piece
is gonna be hanging, the living room.
So I thought that it would be best for us to start here,
in the cozy part of our home, the living room.
And I have to say, this space right behind me,
it's gonna have a lot of major changes.
Because right now, as you can see,
we were really leaning into the whole coastal cottage vibe
with all of the blues and the lighter tones
and the pastels, the lighter rug,
which I love so much.
And do keep in mind,
I'm not gonna be getting rid of any of this decor
by any means.
You sure know that come springtime,
these blue curtains are probably gonna be up again.
But now, let's take a shift into the earthy,
into the cozy tones.
And there is no better way
than to start a living room makeover
by changing one of the biggest aspects
that works as the ultimate anger,
and that is the rug.
Yes, guys, the rug saga continues.
I believe that I have found the most perfect rug
for this space that will work
with the kind of vibe I'm leaning more
into this year's fall,
which is a more colorful fall.
And the beautiful thing is that this rug,
it's got them all.
So time for me to get my workout in.
Let's lay her down and see if we've made a good choice.
Okay, and I'm gonna bring you guys down here
so I can give you a little bit of a tip.
When it comes to setting down a new rug,
one of the most annoying things
is knowing exactly where it should go.
The fact that the new rug
is actually the same size as my current rug,
my favorite thing to do is to actually take
a little bit of masking tape
and mark off the corner of where the rug ends
right underneath it.
This will work as the perfect indicator
for you guys to see exactly where your previous rug was
so that when you lay it down,
you can line it up before putting your couch on top.
Genius, right?
So in my humble opinion,
we chose Wonderflame because, guys,
this rug is perfect.
It's literally got all of those fall tones
and colors I wanted,
but without looking dark,
I mean, just take a look at how beautiful.
And I love the olive green border,
all of the color tones,
and the color tones is exactly
what we're gonna use as our anchor
to now go ahead and decorate the pillows,
to pull the curtains,
to style this entire sofa table.
This is really the center point of the entire room
and is what constitutes the color palette
that your entire space is gonna follow.
But comment down below taking a look
before we go ahead and style everything.
What do you guys think of the rug?
You guys know that I have a habit
of having an entire rug saga
and switching up my rugs,
but the fact that we kind of got this one
on the first shot makes me so proud of myself.
But okay, okay, it is time to move on.
I think the next thing we're gonna move on to
is my sofa table and the painting,
the beautiful artwork.
I've been waiting too long to get this up
and oh, I can just see it's gonna look
so good together with the rug.
And just like the rug,
this is gonna be another piece
that's gonna help us anchor our decor.
All of the little color tones,
the reds, the greens, the warm browns,
we're gonna pick and choose from those later
to help style the entire area,
including the kind of pillows
that we're gonna have on the couch.
We got the artwork up and she is magnificent.
I don't know, somehow it looks smaller
when it's like actually on the wall,
but I just know that decorating the sofa table,
we're gonna try to add some florals also
to give it a little bit more height
and close up that entire open area,
which speaking of coffee table decor,
sofa table decor,
one of your best friends is going to be colorful books.
And you guys have been seeing me thrifted over time.
I love thrifting my books,
whether it be for actual reading use,
cookbooks, or even just for decor.
Don't come for me.
If books are not bought,
they are going to landfills.
I don't care if you're somebody
who wants to buy your books just as decor pieces,
you're still making use of it.
So something that I taught you guys
in my spring decorate with me
is that one of the best things you can do
is to go on into the book section,
look for books, but be sure to pay attention
to the hard color cover of those books.
Because books, you can stack them together,
style it that way.
You can also use it to put it under something
if you wanna give it some elevation.
And then of course, my favorite part
is that it's a great way for you
to add some more color into your space,
especially if you're trying
to pull from a specific painting or rug.
Books are amazing for that.
Okay, so moving on to one of my favorite components,
faux florals.
This is gonna be the first place that we add some,
and we have so many to choose from.
I will say, specifically in that area before,
I had some white cosmos,
which I love the way that they just filled up
that empty space.
And I kind of wanted to lean away
from the traditional fall leaves.
I feel like it could look a little bit tacky.
Instead, it is between these.
We've got some cream cosmos,
very similar to my white ones,
but they have more of that creamy tone.
We have some burgundy cosmos,
which truly, I am kind of leaning towards these.
And then we kind of have these fall-themed hydrangeas,
which I really do like,
but I feel like because of the fact
that they have a round shape,
the face that they're gonna go into should not be round.
It should be narrower and taller.
And so, are you even surprised?
I think I'm gonna go in
and basically just swap out my white cosmos
for these burgundy ones.
The thing is with these that I want you to keep in mind,
whenever you're getting yourself some fall stems,
they are always way too straight.
You gotta look at your fall florals
or any kind of stems in general
and make them look as realistic as possible.
And think about it,
whenever you are buying yourself some real flowers,
most of the time, once you go plop them into a vase,
they are never sticking up straight.
They always have a little bit of that natural bend,
you know, where the bulb of the flower is.
It seems to hang down.
And they're also not that tall.
We do want various heights.
And remember, when you are sorting these,
make them look realistic.
Have them droop down in different angles
to give you that more lifelike look.
So, this is just a couple of the thrift finds
that I recently thrifted
that I wanna integrate into the decor.
They are straight out of the thrift store,
so they've still got the stickers,
they've still got the tape,
they've still got the dirty residue.
So, the first thing I need to go and do
is to clean them all up.
Clean off the frames from all of that dust.
Wash up my linens,
including this incredible fabric
that I cannot wait to reupholster the bench with.
The thing is, right now, it is feeling funky.
So, I'm gonna throw it in the wash
and then get to cleaning everything else.
And I get asked all the time,
hey, Leigh, how do you clean all of your thrifted items,
your pieces, your fabrics, things like ceramics
and even baskets, how do you get them clean?
And truly, I believe it's not
how you're cleaning your items,
it's what you're cleaning them with.
You know, I've been making the swap
to more non-toxic products
and cleaning supplies, I personally believe,
is the first step that every single person should take.
I love to shop all of my cleaning products
on Grove Collaborative.
Grove Collaborative is an online platform
that houses so many different brands.
The difference, though, is that everything
on their website has been curated.
Every single product on the website
passes their test that it doesn't include
over 3,000 of their banned ingredients.
They don't have any artificial fragrances.
They are things that are gonna be safe
for my kids to interact with,
especially now that I have a crawling baby.
Grove essentially does it all for you,
so you don't have to read and nitpick and label check
to make sure that everything you bring
into your home is considered safe.
My laundry, for example, my fabrics,
the only detergent that we will use is Molly Sud,
which I get from Grove Collaborative,
which is incredible because it cleans so well,
but it doesn't have any artificial fragrances.
The simpler the cleaning products, the better.
That is why this right here,
my favorite multi-use cleaner,
it disinfects, it removes old grime,
and it just leaves a good, clean scent
that comes from only in natural fragrances.
But the main ingredient in this, you guys, is water.
I fill this up with water to the indication line,
and then all you need is these little multi-purpose cleaners.
This one is the orange and rosemary,
which I personally really love for the fall time.
You add in this tiny little bottle,
and you get an entire full bottle of cleaner from it.
I mean, that was just one pass, and look at that.
Ew.
So with things like this little fruit bowl
or this adorable little ceramic dish that we got,
even the lamp too, to remove all of that sticker residue.
I'm gonna use my favorite Miss Meyers dish soap.
If you've used the regular stuff, you know how harsh it is.
You don't need something that harsh to get a cleaner.
This right here smells incredible.
It soaps up just as well.
You see how the soap is white?
It's meant to be white.
Why do we need dyes in our soap, guys?
I feel like I'm just repeating myself at this point,
you guys, but what can I say?
I want my home to be clean,
and not just clean, like physically clean,
but clean in terms of safe,
especially for a family with littles.
If you are looking to make a swap
for better-for-you products,
check out Grove Collaborative.
I'm gonna leave all of my personal favorites
linked down below.
Using the code HAYLEYSCORNER,
you can actually get 25% off your first order,
and on there, you're not just gonna find cleaning products.
You're gonna find everyday wellness substitutes,
whether it be household or personal care,
beauty, baby, pet-related,
one place where you are sure
all the products are vetted for,
so that you can feel confident
about what you're bringing into your home.
So a big thank you to Grove Collaborative
for partnering with me on today's video,
because having a pretty home is definitely great,
but having a home that is truly clean,
there's nothing better.

Moving on to something that I am so excited for.
It will make the biggest difference in this room.
We're gonna be changing our curtains,
because, I mean, these blue ones are gorgeous,
but they're definitely leaning more
towards spring and summer.
So while I will be definitely saving them
for the warmer months,
I've actually picked out a really neutral,
warm color for the fall and winter,
and it is these.
It is triple pinch pleated linen look curtains
from the brand Two Pages.
I'm actually doing some Instagram content for them,
and honestly, when I was browsing their website,
I was like trying to figure out
what color would be good here.
Part of me was leaning more towards the moody,
being like, Haley, go dark, go bold.
I just feel like I like a bright and airy home, okay?
Sue me.
I would rather that my dark, moody colors
be in things like my accessories, my artwork,
but you can tell with my style,
I like keeping my furniture light.
I like keeping my window details light.
And so I decided to go
with this really, really nice taupe-y color
that I think matches pretty well
with the trims along our house.
It's not just a plain ivory,
so it won't blend in with the walls,
but it will still help frame those windows.
And these just go up with curtain clips.
So let me get down the old, put up the new,
and I cannot wait to see what it looks like.
So you know when you wanna make a big decision
about something and you have no idea
if you made the right choice?
It is the most satisfying thing
when you are happy with your choice
because, oh my gosh, guys, the curtains are perfect.
They add that perfect touch of warmth
without making the house feel dark
or like too moody, still light, still airy,
and these panels are so gorgeous.
They actually have a memory,
so they're actually gonna look stacked
like this the entire time.
Listen, curtains are definitely not cheap,
but if you do wanna have custom curtains,
I highly recommend that you get something neutral like this
that you can literally keep forever.
Like, this color is never gonna go out of style.
And I'm so happy that we ended up going
with a solid color instead of a patterned curtain
because now we can go ahead
and have some fun with the pillows,
which is exactly the point that we're at
and the point that I am so excited for
because pillows truly add so much personality to a space.
And this right here
is my little fall pillowcase collection.
Some of these pillowcases are from last year.
A couple of them are new.
Most of them are ones that we thrifted.
Like, remember these?
We just picked them up on our last thrift trip.
They actually look so good with the curtains,
and I think they're gonna match the rug too.
And with this, your design
and your placement really, really matters.
You wanna get pillows that are different sizes,
sitting in different areas,
and putting together different groups
that work together in a really nice harmony.
So the way that we're gonna do that
is I'm gonna strip all of my old pillowcases,
I'm gonna lay them out
exactly where I want them on the couch,
and then we're gonna mock up all the different variations
of which pillow combination we're gonna do.
Pillows are looking so good.
And here's the thing, you guys.
I know that sometimes you like to take my advice.
I really don't know why
because most of the time I don't know what I'm doing.
For example, throw blankets.
Does anybody know how to make a throw blanket
look good on the couch?
Because I don't know.
I feel like every single time I do it,
it just looks like, I don't know,
people just make it look so cute
and so effortless somehow.
But for me, it just doesn't work.
So comment down below
if you have any throw blanket tips for me
to make this entire space look so much better,
even though I have to say I love my living room right now.
Basically, my train of thought when choosing these pillows
is I just tried to pair everything
to have something matching the rug.
All of these tones, for example,
in the pillow that we thrifted match the rug so well.
The stripes on this one,
I made sure that they were a dark brown
so they would match the dark brown here,
which ties into the dark brown
of the wooden piece right over there.
I added in little accents of green
in a pattern pillow element
and then a solid pillow element
because of course we have a lot of green in the rug
and then we have some green in the bowl,
some green in the florals,
and then some green in the artwork.
You want your eye to feel symmetry
whenever you're looking at your couch,
kind of in a way that's cohesive
without looking too matchy-matchy.
Hence why I have the brown pillow
with the stripe pillow here,
the brown pillow with a pattern over there,
and then the stripe pillow with a solid one there.
So it all works together without twinning.
You know what I mean?
And I feel especially now
that I have my little lamps set up,
having these to turn on in the nighttime,
just like this,
turn off the big lights.
I mean, is this a cozy vibe
or is this a cozy vibe?
Living room, we took good care of you
and now on to the next.
Now that I got some of these
most recent thrift rides cleaned up,
I'm at a point where
I don't really know where to start.
I think the first thing for us to do
is to go ahead and just get rid of anything
that just feels remotely like summer.
And that is definitely the blues.
All the blue items,
all the blue accessories,
I'm going to store them away in my storage bench
for the spring and the summer.
And we're basically just going to be swapping out
everything that has those little details of blue
in exchange for some earthy greens,
some gorgeous maroons,
and everything that just feels like a touch of fall.
And outside of just getting rid of the blues,
something else I'm swapping out is the plate wall.
She's cute, but I feel like for fall,
we're going in a different direction.
All the blue is gone except for the cafe curtains.
And it's actually got me thinking,
I think this is where we're going to start with.
Over all of my thrift trips,
I've always been able to find
so many incredible cafe curtains.
The thing is, it's so hard to usually find ones
that actually suit your window.
And these, these right over here,
I've actually been waiting so long to use them.
I think for the fall,
they're going to be so fun and so perfect.
I mean, come on, these cafe curtains, you guys,
they are a gorgeous, more burgundy color,
not like a really bright red.
And I think that they will be such a nice addition
to the kitchen.
They're also the exact same length that I need.
And I have four panels, which is perfect.
So I think this is going to be step one
in this entire makeover
and a great way for us to integrate our first real color.
Pa pa pa, pa pa pa.
Honestly, you guys,
I find these to be so cute and festive for the fall season.
The pattern is so nice in the material.
They're just really flowy.
I may have to iron out a couple crinkles,
but right now it does seem a little bit out of place
because everything else is just so bland and beige.
So let's go and move ahead to my coffee corner
where we can hopefully now integrate that new color
by adding in some artwork.
And I knew I wanted something really special for this space.
So if you guys have missed it in my previous vlogs,
we went ahead and did some thrifting and I was able to find two
incredible pieces of artwork that I went ahead, reframed,
I even recolored the frames to give it a more antique-y look.
These two prints are beyond beautiful.
This one, I actually was so pulled to it because of all of the colors.
It has a lot of those rusts and oranges and greens that definitely give off fall.
I am leaning more towards this one for the coffee corner.
The thing is, I wish it was as big as this
because just take a look at how nicely this one takes up the wall.
We have that option and then we have this one.
I want you guys right now to comment down below
which of these two options do you like better.
Even though I wish this painting was bigger,
I feel like she's the one that's gonna win the spot for now.
But did I make the right choice? Let me know below.
But before putting up that artwork,
I do have to repair the holes that we had from the plates.
Erase the hole.
If you guys have never used this before,
it's literally like a chapstick for your wall.
If your holes are super small, you just roll this in,
let it dry, you could paint it over and your holes are covered in literally minutes.
And then I always make sure to have a little bit of touch-up paint
on hand in a small canister.
Whenever you want to go and fix up a hole or just repaint over something,
it's just so much easier to do it this way.
And yes, I'm using a makeup brush.
I don't have anything else, okay?
That's it.
Oh, I can never have it.
Who's excited?
We're officially moving on to my favorite spot, my coffee corner.
Every season, I love to change it up here
because this right here is how I start all of my mornings.
It was very coastal cottage before
and now I want to make it into that perfect cozy cottage corner coffee nook.
Man, that's a lot of C's.
But okay, the one thing that I do want you guys to keep in mind,
you can see some of the decor pieces I already left from before
because those are items that I'm still going to rework
and just change up what I'm styling around it.
You don't need to completely swap out everything you already have.
Just change the color scheme to make it work for now.
My mug rack, for example.
I love this little basket that I have here that I thrifted
and swapping out the flowers every season
already makes it look so festive without even trying.
These are fake florals and they're baby's breath,
which is a very spring, summery flower.
What I'm going to be changing them up with instead is this.
These little stems I got from Hobby Lobby.
I have no idea what they are,
but they really mimic that wheat dried look,
which I think goes really well for the fall.
I mean, doesn't just making that swap already look so whimsy?
Okay, moving on to the rest of the mug rack.
This is where you get to really play up with your color tones.
So taking inspiration from the photo that we have above,
I pretty much grabbed all of the mugs in the colors
that just feel reminiscent of fall to me.
Burgundies, oranges, browns.
Of course, a little pop of green too.
What you want is to be able to hold up your mugs
next to your artwork or next to your anchor inspiration piece
and see cohesiveness.
Cute, cute, cute, cute.
Oh my gosh, it looks so good.
All the colors work together so beautifully.
You got some of the red, some of the green, some of the orange.
Even to the point of like obviously pumpkin spice coffee pods,
but put them in a clear glass so you can see the actual coffee pods.
This pumpkin shaped one, I think it was like $5 in Target.
It is so cute.
I have all of my stuff on hand,
but now we are going to be moving on to this area
because whenever I'm doing my coffee slash my matcha,
I'm jumping around from here and jumping around to there.
As well as obviously choosing mugs off of my mug rack
before it had a lot of those blue tones
and now I want to add those warm tones again.
I literally have thrifted this piece three times
on three different occasions.
Every time I pick it up,
I have to get it because it's so beautiful.
But clearly now that we have the other one
displayed in the living room,
I'm going to save this one for the summer
and what I'm going to replace it with instead
is something that I actually thrifted on my last thrift trip.
You guys saw I found this beautiful floral artwork
in a huge frame.
The frame was overwhelmingly big,
but I love these florals.
So I reframed it into a different frame
and just look at how perfect this artwork right here
is fall in a nutshell.
You have all these little flowers
and those beautiful fall colors.
And again, if you hold it up here,
there's a little bit of the red in the mug,
a little bit of the green in the lamp,
a little bit of the yellow in the artwork.
It all ties in and even the paper backing that it's on,
it's like a creamy yellow, not a white.
So I'm going to layer this one on that second shelf instead.
So now something I feel like the shelf is missing
is some texture,
just like we have here some texture in the basket.
I thought that spot would be a perfect opportunity
to add another thrifted basket.
I love this boat style.
I think this was like 99 cents,
but instead of just having a basket,
I've been loving the look of a basket with florals.
And given how much I like the look of this,
I have some extra ones of those
and I just love the color contrast of the two.
So I'm actually thinking to position this like this
and have them peeping out in this way.
You guys, that just looks so whimsy.
And what I love is also because it's a tall basket,
it helps give height
and fill in that empty space behind the shelf.
One final touch, a book with green binding
paired together with this burgundy red bowl.
I had a blue bowl on this before.
I feel like the red bowl nicely ties in now
with this burgundy mug.
Listen, I know some people are not into kitchen shelves.
They just figure what's the point?
These are all decorative pieces.
Yes and no.
The middle shelf and the top shelf
are definitely more decorative
because they're harder to reach.
But this shelf, I actually reach for quite a bit.
Ultimately, if you're someone who is into
the aesthetic of a home,
you have to have little nooks and crannies
that you can add in decor that is useless.
That's just part of it.
If you don't have the space for it,
then that's totally fine.
You have your table for that.
Luckily, we have so much storage space in cabinets,
having a couple open shelves
or an exposed wall like this
just allow you to add a bit of personality every season.
Remember the candles we got?
Green candle into this thrifted candlestick
will help bring that green up to that top shelf.
And for the last little section of our coffee corner,
we have this tray over here
that I usually use to hold my matcha whisk.
This time, because I've been having
a lot of instant coffee lately,
I'm going to be keeping my instant coffee in here.
Place that right here.
And then like I said, when it comes to ceramics,
it's really hard for me to thrift a lot of them.
So they are one of the things that I buy new.
This collection at Target,
you see like the burgundies, the browns,
the colors are just so pretty.
Just a cute update for fall.
The one thing I have to say though,
is that I actually used to have a lamp right over here
to help me cover that outlet
because I never use that outlet.
I have so many around the kitchen,
that one I never use.
I feel like it is such an eyesore,
but now that I have a lamp here instead,
two lamps in that area is going to be too much.
So I have an idea that I feel like a lot of you guys
are going to take so much inspiration from.
I have this little thrifted artwork.
I thought this spot would be so cute for art,
but I didn't want to have anything on the countertop.
I think I got this for like three or four dollars
and this print is really popular.
I just glazed it over with some Mod Podge
like I usually do,
to give it that like shiny oil painting look.
And I'm thinking this to cover the outlet.
How cute does that look?
Now I have backsplash.
I don't want to mount it on the backsplash
and at the same time,
I want to hide the outlet.
So you're going to take one of these.
This is basically one of those outlet covers.
I have so many now
because obviously Eliana's crawling everywhere
and we are going to glue it on the back
of this picture frame.
Hey you guys,
it is actually the next morning.
My kiddos are home with me today,
so you may be hearing them in the background,
but we are in the homestretch
and I am so close to being done.
At least this kitchen and this living room
and I mean,
how cute is this little cozy corner?
Like I cannot wait to start making
my morning coffees here,
but we still do have a couple little swaps
that we have to make.
One of them being this little oil utensil situation.
Basically my little station
for when I'm going and cooking.
The main thing that I love to switch out
when it comes to this time of year
is the crock
because this one feels very cottagecore,
very summery and cute
and I actually thrifted one recently
that will be the perfect replacement for this.
I'm basically going to be swapping out this crock
for this one.
We thrifted this in my last video
and I am so in love.
This absolutely beautiful deep green,
I think it will work so well
with so much of the greens
that I have going on in the coffee station.
Just look at all the details.
It is a full marble
and I just think it is the perfect little crock.
Something else I always like to do this time of year
is actually refresh my little wooden spoons.
In having a healthier home,
I have tried to swap as much as I can
using wooden utensils and stainless steel
over plastic or silicone
and because of the fact
that wooden spoons are made with natural materials,
over time they do get worn
and they do need replacing.
So I picked up this new set of wooden spoons
and this is the time of year
where I always love to refresh them.
The brown especially looks so good with the green.
It'll go perfect in this little corner.
So that little corner is done.
Now when it comes to the next area,
I want something that is practical but also pretty.
Obviously when it comes to the stovetop,
what are you doing here most of the time?
You're cooking.
So I am so excited when I was able to find this.
In the beginning, I thought it was just a photo easel
but then I noticed that it's actually slanted
and the reason why
is because it's actually meant to be a cookbook stand.
I mean, how absolutely perfect is that?
I've already told you guys in so many of my previous videos
how much I personally love to cook
out of a cookbook over my phone.
So being able to have this right here
holding the pages for me,
cropped up in an easy way that I can read it,
is so practical.
But again, it still looks so pretty.
This is actually the tomato soup
that I'm looking to make today.
So I'm going to keep it open right there
but you can flip through the pages
and I don't know what it is
but having a cozy recipe on display
just adds to the entire cozy vibe in your house.
So let this be your sign to keep your eye out
for some easels and some cookbook holders
so that you can display your recipes
just as good as this.
I made such minor little changes in the breakfast nook
but it makes the biggest difference.
Just changing out the cushions
and changing out these stems.
Remember in the last video I showed you guys
these kind of fall style hydrangeas?
I feel like they look so pretty and so full
especially if you have a smaller size vase.
This is just three stems
and look at how full it looks.
Perfect as a nice table center.
Something though that you guys will notice
with this breakfast nook,
I actually went ahead and removed the cafe curtains
because I had the blue floral ones
which clearly just didn't match the vibe.
And this is where I'm kind of like really confused
and need your help.
A part of me feels like this area
doesn't need cafe curtains
because we've got the long curtains right alongside
and then we've got like the fun
little short cafe curtains over there.
I feel like adding another pattern here
may be too much
unless we do something neutral.
Maybe I should do just a shorter version
of the long curtains I have over there.
So this is where I want your guys'
expert decorating skills.
Taking a look at my little breakfast nook
with the colors and the theme
that we have going on right now,
do we add cafe curtains back to this area?
If so, what kind of style or pattern should I do?
Should I do like a solid taupe
like our long curtains?
Should I try to find similar plaid gingham ones
like the one in our kitchen?
Should we just forgo the cafe curtains
and let the ones on the side shine more?
I don't know.
I am like so confused.
I love the coziness that cafe curtains
brings to a space like this
but I also don't want to be doing too much
in terms of fabric.
So what are your thoughts?
Let me know down below.
And with that, let's go ahead
and swap out some decor
in my last little area, the entryway.
You guys, your little entry bench
is looking oh so good
just with the minor details
but I really wanted to ask you guys,
you saw me make this cushion
in one of my previous videos.
I do absolutely love the fabric
and I feel like the touch of red is so pretty.
And regardless, I'm going to be keeping this cushion
and for sure styling into the summer.
My question is, do we still leave this
right now for the fall?
Should I actually take this fabric
that I thrifted in my last video
and washed up today?
This gorgeous brown gingham,
like a little mini gingham
and should I go and recreate this cushion
in this fabric for the fall and winter?
I don't know.
What are you guys thinking?
On one hand, I feel like it will definitely
make it a little bit more neutral,
a little bit more matchy
but on the other hand,
I also really love the pop of red here.
So comment down below,
help me decide for my next vlog.
Should I go ahead
and keep the same cushion that we have
or remake it in the gingham
at least for the fall
and then keep that one for the summer?
Your opinions always help me out
in deciding what is best.
So let me know down below.
Well, babes, what can I say?
We did it.
We gave our little coastal cottage
a cozy home makeover
and yes, I am by no means done.
When it comes to decorating your home,
I want you guys to keep in mind
that it takes time.
You don't want to buy everything in one shot.
You want to curate
and collect your decor pieces
and slowly add them in
because there are some shelves
that definitely need some more of a fall touch,
which is the whole fun of it.
I'm still going to be thrifting this season,
still going to be checking out estate sales
and Facebook marketplace
in hopes of curating items
that I still want to add into this home.
And on top of everything, you guys,
here's also your reminder
that as much as you could decorate your home
to look all beautiful and nice,
a messy home is a home that is lived in.
And this right here
is typically what it's going to be looking like.
At least in our house,
it's exactly why I moved the coffee table over there
so that they have more place to play.
And I would say,
especially if you have toys in your area,
the best thing,
keep a basket just like this,
throw all the toys in there,
move it along the side
when it's not being used.
And when it is, embrace the mess
because this stage doesn't last forever.
I love you guys!
Didn't get to the bookshelves today,
didn't get to my bedroom either,
