Kineton is a small historic hamlet in the northern Cotswolds, forming part of the parish of Temple Guiting.
During the Middle Ages, Kineton was part of the lands associated with the Knights Templar, whose estate was centred at nearby Temple Guiting. The hamlet was primarily agricultural, with farmland and tenant holdings supporting the wider estate.
For centuries, farming remained central to village life. By the 19th century, Kineton had its own inn, shops and tradespeople, including a shoemaker, butcher and maltster.
The hamlet sits in the Upper Windrush Valley, surrounded by rolling hills, fields and traditional Cotswold stone buildings. Nearby, the young River Windrush winds through the countryside.
Today, Kineton remains a small rural community, with its old cottages, country lanes and surrounding farmland preserving much of its traditional Cotswold character.
