By experimenting with layering, color palettes, and unexpected accessories, she transforms curated reference images into wearable outfits that blend an \"artsy\" aesthetic with everyday practicality, emphasizing interpretation over exact imitation.
A few years ago, recreating Pinterest outfits was such a big trend on YouTube and social media.
It was everywhere. It was the go-to source for style inspo.
Then I think maybe it got a little oversaturated,
and we got sick of seeing people copy outfits so exactly,
it seemed to lack originality or creative value.
And then generative AI started flooding Pinterest,
which really has no originality or creative value,
not to mention the constant ads in your feed.
There are complaints, for sure.
And yet, despite it all, I have continued to love finding fashion inspo on Pinterest.
The creative people who are on the internet,
using it, posting cute outfits and interesting inspiration make it worthwhile to me.
So today, I thought it would be fun to return to this exercise of recreating Pinterest outfits
and see where it leads me.
I have a collection of outfits I'm very inspired by that I'm so excited to try to channel.
So let's begin.
Firstly, I want to start with this one.
This outfit is low-key like one of the stars of my fall Pinterest board.
I just love everything about it.
The cozy, intricate fair isle knit.
The patterned bandana.
The colorful textured bag.
But then we also just have simple black boots and jeans.
This feels like the perfect balance of rich yet earthy colors.
Texture and detail versus simplicity.
Casual cozy comfort, but also so much character.
I love her.
So for my outfit, I'm gonna try my own cozy fair isle sweater,
a bandana, jeans, black boots, and a colored bag.
They won't all be the same colors as these, but we'll see if we can get the same vibe.
Okay, we have the base outfit together.
I am loving this so far.
The last thing is just to decide which of these bags to use.
In our reference image, there is a solid colored bag.
So my first thought was this green one.
But I feel like the spirit of the inspo is much more aligned with this earthy,
textured, more muted bag, even though it also has a pattern.
So I'm gonna go with this.
And with that, here's the finished look.
I love this.
I feel like I've been styling this sweater in every outfit video lately,
and I apologize if it's getting repetitive.
But also, I'm not sorry for wearing this sweater a bunch,
because it's just the best.
It's my favorite sweater.
And it suits the inspo the best.
It's my most, like, multicolored, cozy sweater that I own.
I love it with the jeans and boots and the bag.
That all feels super classically something I would wear.
I also wear a lot of bandanas.
But what's weirdly really exciting me about this look, unexpectedly,
is the hair up with the bandana.
That is something I never do,
but I feel like it's part of what's making the inspo picture so cool.
And so I had to try it here, and I really like it.
I feel very earthy, very artsy.
Yeah, I don't know.
I just feel, like, unexpectedly, effortlessly artsy cool.
Which I kind of thought I would from the picture,
and yet this outfit is giving that vibe in, like, a new way.
It's always fun and exciting to find a new way to channel a vibe and a style
that already really feels like you, that you already love.
So I'm super excited about this.
I gotta start wearing bandanas with my hair up.
Okay, next we have another serious star of my fall Pinterest.
I can't help it.
I'm doing the ones I'm most excited about right away.
And I think I like this one for very similar reasons.
We've got pattern and color and detail,
but also more subdued, solid elements.
There's kind of an unexpected yet harmonious, cohesively earthy palette here.
I love the sporty top with the flowy skirt on the bottom.
The bag adds some really cool edge to the look.
And then for shoes, I think she has some slingback heels on.
I don't really own anything like this,
but I'm gonna figure out something that will work.
Okay, here's my version.
I love this.
I really honestly wasn't sure if this was gonna work out for me
because I just love the colors of the inspo picture so much.
And my palette here is a little different,
but it's working for me so much.
I never would have thought to put these two together and I love them.
Obviously, I have my own sort of muted flowy plaid skirt
and then the sporty striped sweater on top.
I actually think these colors all go so well together.
And the juxtaposition of the sporty boxy sweater with the flowy skirt is so great.
It's what I loved in the inspo and I loved in this outfit.
I also went for this gray and black leather bag to add that edgier element.
I think because these colors are not quite as muted as the inspo outfits colors,
having a more muted bag color works to make the overall palette read a little more subtle.
And then for shoes, I thought these heeled like pointed toe clog mules
could give kind of a similar vibe to slingback heels.
This is the closest thing I have to that in my closet.
And I never would have thought to pair these shoes with this outfit.
My instinct would be to go for boots, which I think would also look great,
but these feel a little less expected.
Maybe a little more interesting.
A little more like, huh, you look twice and yet it's all working.
I feel really cool in this.
I'm also really comfortable.
See, and that is the value of these videos.
And if taking inspiration and trying to recreate Pinterest outfits,
even when your pieces are different, you might like it more than you expect.
Okay, next we have another outfit with sort of a retro sporty striped top.
I love this look for this transitional late summer, early fall season.
It's like the only time you can get away with long sleeves with shorts.
And I love specifically this rugby shirt with these long baggy shorts
in this unexpected reddish purple color.
I myself have my own striped rugby shirt and baggy purple shorts.
And neither of them are precisely the same as these pieces,
but I think they could look equally great together.
I also love the textured bag, the sock and school shoe combo.
Every little element of this is so cool, so playful, so fun.
Let's try it out.
All right, here is my finished version.
And I gotta say, I'm really liking this.
Not to be a broken record, but I like it even more than I expected to.
I mean, I think this shirt with these shorts looks great.
I expected that.
The thing I was dubious about was the taller, darker socks with the shoes.
My impulse would definitely be a shorter white crew sock.
I feel like that's the default at this point.
And that would also look great here.
But these taller, darker socks are really kind of doing it for me more than I expected.
I thought they would look super awkward on me and like cut my leg off in a weird place.
And maybe I'll look back at this footage and think that it does look awkward at me.
But right now in person, I'm looking in my mirror over here.
I think it's actually very cool.
Obviously, my shorts are also shorter,
which I think kind of helps this feel more balanced for me.
But they're still nice and baggy and flowy, not too short.
This is so cool.
This is something I would never have put all together,
especially these socks with this on my own.
But I feel like it's kind of making the outfit.
I might still feel too self-conscious to like wear this out like this.
But I think it looks cool in the mirror.
I also just added this slouchy green bag.
It doesn't have that woven texture.
But I think the slouchy shape and the green color really complement this outfit well.
Overall, it's quite simple and comfortable, but packs a stylistic punch.
I'm into it.
This is another success, I think.
Okay, here's our next outfit.
And I am really drawn to this one because she has this sort of sporty,
outdoorsy looking brown jacket with this more feminine, long, flowy plaid skirt.
And I actually have a very similar jacket to this
that I have never thought to pair with a skirt like this.
I always put it in these more androgynous, outdoorsy, like gorpy, sporty outfits.
But I think this looks so cool.
It looks very natural.
It doesn't look super mismatched or anything.
So I really want to try it out.
For my skirt, I could use that same purple plaid skirt from earlier.
I also have a couple other plaid options.
Or if I'm more interested in the color palette, I also have a couple blue skirt options.
So we'll see which one wins out.
I also have brown boots, a brown bag, and some sunglasses to pull it all together.
All right, here's our finished look.
Once again, I think this is really cool.
I'm going to take off these sunglasses to talk to you.
I need to look you in the eyes.
I really like this.
This jacket, it works so well here.
I think because if I open this up, you can see it has a zipper, it has snaps,
and it has this fleecy inside.
I felt like that was making it look too sporty and casual.
But if I just close it up, I feel like it actually looks quite elevated
while still being super cozy and warm.
I am too sweaty in this right now.
But once it cools off a little, this could be perfect.
I think this would also look amazing with the purple plaid skirt from earlier.
But just to give you a little variation, I went with this one this time.
I think this also looks very cool.
Really, any color skirt would work with this because the rest is just neutral brown.
And then got my stompy, chunky brown boots, little brown bag, brown sunglasses.
I also think having these more utilitarian boots
and even a more utilitarian sort of cargo bag style
all work to blend the jacket seamlessly with the outfit.
Okay, I'm sweating profusely in this jacket, so I have to take it off.
But feeling quite satisfied with this one.
I feel like I've unlocked new styling options for this jacket.
Here's our next look.
And what I really love about this one is the textural layers and the silhouette they create.
I love this high neck sweater, but then with the open zip on the bottom.
I love how the button-up underneath mirrors that split hemline.
Both pieces sort of flare out and then the skirt just flares out even more from there.
Just a great shape going on here.
For my outfit, I have a brown cardigan that has sort of a similar silhouette
that I think will work.
Then to still get some green in there, I'm going to do a green striped button-up underneath.
And then for the skirt, I don't know yet.
I might go solid neutral.
I might try to add more color and patterns since I'm going to have a neutral cardigan.
So I'm just going to try it on and see.
Okay, here's what I have for this outfit.
And I think this translated surprisingly well.
I really wasn't sure the pieces I had would lay quite right
and really recreate the silhouette I'm loving here.
But I feel like I pretty much did it.
I've got this cardigan unbuttoned on the bottom,
but buttoned and rolled over on the top for this little mock neck.
And of course, the button-up poking out.
And then I decided to trust the vision of the inspo and go for all neutral.
But I thought a lighter palette would work nicely on the bottom
because we have this darker sweater on top.
So I just went with a white skirt, which I think really brightens up the outfit.
White bag to match the white skirt.
Brown boots to match the brown sweater.
And I think this is really cool.
The only thing about it that doesn't feel quite right for me
is that I just would not normally do an all-neutral outfit
with just one little bit of simple color like this.
I think I just need more colors or pattern going on somewhere in here
for it to feel more like a me version of the outfit.
But I think that's really quick and easy to solve
by just switching out this bag for a multicolored patterned one.
This is also great because this has a bit of green in it that ties in with this green.
There's also sort of a stripey motif mirroring the shirt.
But it also adds a different vibe to this look.
Much more detailed texture.
Very small pattern that kind of adds like a busy element
to something that feels very calm and unbusy
in a way that to me feels a little more energetic in my style.
I don't know.
That's really the only change I needed.
And now I'm loving this.
I also think this could be really fun to try out with different button downs
and maybe different skirts.
Get different variations on the patterns and colors going here.
But the silhouette, which I loved in the inspo, is totally working for me here.
And there are so many different ways you could create this silhouette
using different variants of these key pieces.
Wow, this is so cool.
I feel like a chic art professor or something.
That's kind of the vibe I'm always chasing.
Okay, our next outfit reference is actually four different outfits I saved
that I realized all have basically the same appeal to me.
Here they are.
They are all layered outfits with pants that have a base of black and brown
and then some sort of colorful striped accent and red as an accent color.
Isn't that funny how all of these outfits have all of those specific things in common?
But they're all different.
So those are the elements I'm hoping to bring into my outfit,
which will be different from all of these,
but will hopefully fit all of those appealing elements.
To start, I have my own colorful striped sweater.
And then, you know, we're gonna get probably black pants, a brown jacket, black shoes,
and then some sort of red accent.
Could be a bandana, could be a vest, could be a scarf.
We'll see what works the best.
Okay, here's an option with the vest.
I think this is fun, but I feel like it is too much red for what we're going for.
It's sort of covering the stripes.
Here it is with a scarf.
This honestly is perfection to me.
I love this.
I would wear it exactly like this.
But honestly, I think I have worn this exact outfit before in real life and on this channel.
So this is a great styling option.
But if we're trying to experiment and get new inspiration here,
let's maybe try one more way with the bandana.
Okay, I love this.
This feels so me.
Obviously, like I said, I've worn similar outfits to this before,
and I also wear bandanas all the time.
But for some reason, I think of these bandanas as more of a summer thing.
And so I rarely think to wear them with like pants and a jacket
and more of an autumnal outfit.
But I love it here.
I think it looks so cool.
It's fresh to me because it's something I don't do,
but it looks like totally natural with the outfit.
I think it blends quite seamlessly with this vibe.
Wow.
I really love this.
I keep going up here to look in the mirror.
Sorry, my floors are so creaky.
Oh my god.
I can't believe I've never worn this before.
Something about this long faux suede coat with this bandana feels very 70s to me,
which I think is really cool.
70s fashion feels like fall vibes to me.
I guess just because of the colors.
But also the other elements of the sweater and the pants don't feel like costumey 70s.
You know, we've got subtle hints,
but it also feels very, very cool and relaxed and everyday.
I love this.
I will be wearing this this fall.
It's also like so comfortable and practical and just like a very easy everyday outfit.
This is a 10 out of 10.
Another great success.
I really don't feel like I have any more to say about it
because it's just so straightforward how much I like this.
Okay, on a similar theme of stripes and bright red,
we have this outfit next.
This one I actually showed in a recent video saying I loved so many different elements of this,
but altogether it felt a little too bold for my style.
And yet something about this has really captivated me
and I want to try recreating it anyway.
That's the beauty of trying to recreate something that feels a little bold for you,
a little out of your comfort zone.
You can just try it out and see how it actually feels.
Or maybe I will riff on this with my own slightly less bold outfit.
For my outfit, I do think I'm going to go with a different color palette here
because I have a green striped tote bag and a green striped pair of pants.
So instead of this warmer palette of the bright red and yellow,
I think I'm going to go a little cooler with green and blue maybe.
I've got a blue striped button-up, I've got a blue sweater,
and then we'll see what we can do about the hat.
Let's try it out.
Okay, here's where we're at so far.
We are once again choosing between these two bags.
I know I said I was going to use this green striped bag,
but then because my sweater also has a pattern on it,
I thought this bag might actually be better
because it gives the eyes sort of a solid color to rest on.
And also, I think this pop of brightness actually nods more
to the bold, bright, playful feel of the original reference outfit.
This would also look really cool, but it's kind of going in a different direction.
Okay, I'm really loving this more than I expected.
And now we just have to choose a hat.
If we want to lean into the color scheme more,
I have this bright blue little beanie.
Or if we want to reference the sort of playful sailor hat shape
of the reference outfit, we have this one,
which is just a white knitted hat,
but it kind of flares out in this way that gives a sailor hat vibe
that I really like.
I think this is the move.
I like that it adds a solid neutral
because we already have a lot of colors going on,
but it still embraces the more playful feel of the outfit.
So here's the finished look.
And I must say, once again, I love this even more than I expected to.
This is so cool.
This is so fun.
This is the kind of thing I probably wouldn't put on on the day-to-day
because it just feels like a lot going on.
Looking at the pieces separately, like, oh, three different patterns together.
But then wearing it, having it combined,
and then adding in a couple solid elements.
I love this.
I think it's so cool.
I think this color palette is, like, a much more me take on this outfit.
My colors are a little more subdued.
They're cooler toned, and I don't have that big bold collar.
Like, all the pieces are actually very regular,
but they're just sort of combined in an unexpected playful way.
And I love this.
I'm so glad I took the time to try to recreate something based on this.
This is really the beauty of playing around with these inspiration images.
You can come up with something that clearly came from this reference,
but is also kind of your own in its own way.
Something that feels like a totally different creative use of your clothes
that you never would have thought of.
It's just so much fun to play dress up, man.
I love this.
Okay, here's our final outfit.
And I am so excited about this one because it contains many pieces
similar to pieces I already own,
but styled in a way that I never would have thought of.
I have my own super flowy white tank top with lacy trim like this.
I also have a few different striped t-shirts.
And then this is a denim jacket with like a cute little design embellishment on it.
So I could do my plain denim jacket,
or one of my many other more embellished patterned jackets.
We'll see what works better.
On the bottom, just some neutral pants.
We'll see whatever works.
But I'm excited to try on this layering combo on the top half.
Okay, here's where we're at with this final outfit.
I decided to go with this jacket because it is still solid blue,
so it doesn't conflict too much with the stripes here.
But it also has this embroidered floral pattern on it,
so it still adds like a bit more texture and interest than just a plain jacket would.
And I think it's really fun with this.
The only thing that's feeling weird to me is,
I mean, A, the top part of this tank top just has like nothing going on,
unlike the inspo where there's all this texture and interest here.
For me, it's just like plain.
And then two, I feel like these necklines are laying kind of weirdly together.
That's another thing that differs from the inspo.
Here we have a crew neck and a v-neck,
which I think creates a nicer shape.
But with just these two scooped necks together,
something about it looks a little accidental.
However, here's my solution for both of those things.
I just buttoned the top of the jacket.
And now we're covering more of the tank top,
so we just have like the cool cute ends poking out.
And we're covering the place where the necklines meet.
And I think that right there makes this look work for me.
Sometimes you really just have to play around with the style.
Like roll up the sleeves, button something differently,
and that can make such a big difference in whether an outfit's actually working for you.
Try that before you give up and change into something else.
I think this is so cute, so fun and playful.
It's kind of unexpected.
We've got the layering, the ruffles, the cute jacket,
but it's also like very mundane and casual,
just simple pants and boots.
I feel like this is another one I could really wear anywhere,
and it doesn't look like I'm doing too much,
but it does look still a bit cool and unexpected and fun.
And I feel like if I saw someone wearing this out in the world,
I'd be like, oh my God, that outfit is so cute.
Why didn't I think of that?
It's kind of what I did when I saw this on Pinterest.
Yeah, I love this version.
I hate to say it again,
but I never would have thought of this without this inspo,
and I love this outfit.
I would definitely wear this, and I think I will.
Honestly, all of these are getting added to my fall outfit inspo docket.
A lot of these I think I will wear in real life,
and I'm so excited to have them now put together as options.
All right, with that, I'm done.
And I think the verdict is quite clearly,
thankfully, recreating Pinterest outfits totally still works in 2026.
This was honestly the best creative style inspo
I have played with in a long time.
I love getting to see styling and inspiration
from so many other creative, cool people on the internet,
and I got so much out of this.
What a great feeling to, I don't know, still have something.
You know what I mean?
Some things that do make Pinterest more usable for me as well are,
one, I have an ad blocker on there,
and two, I have done all the setting adjustments
to minimize the presence of AI on my feed,
which doesn't detect everything, but it does help,
and it makes Pinterest quite usable.
If you're wondering how to change those settings,
I will try to show you here.
I would love to hear how you all are feeling
about style inspo on Pinterest these days in the comments.
I know many of us, we're still going strong on here.
Not that Pinterest the corporation is like a champion of the people or anything,
but it's nice that the people can still find a place to share their creativity.
You know what I mean?
It's about the people on there.
I'd also love to hear what's inspiring you right now in fashion,
what you thought of these outfits, the inspo, and my interpretations.
Thanks so much for hanging out with me to play dress up this week.
I had a great time.
Oh, and I heard if you do leave a comment, watch another video, and subscribe,
you will not overheat and get all sweaty
next time you are playing a little dress up
and trying on a bunch of outfits like I am right now.
