What is going on guys?
Welcome back to the channel.
And today we are refilming a video
because one of us forgot to turn our mics on
and it wasn't me.
So, so what we're doing is
I have the oldest bowling ball that I own.
Shout out to Ron Mosnes.
I think that's how you say his last name.
If it's not, I apologize,
but that's kind of how it's spelled.
Here, I have a Rotogrip Top Fuel.
This was Rotogrip's high-end bowling ball.
The year that Jalen was born, in 2002.
So this ball is literally as old as he is.
It is, it's just like,
it's just got high, high-end symmetric numbers.
I thought it was an asym at first
because it does have a mass bias marking down there.
But I get, I did a little bit more research.
I guess they just put it on there
through the CG for consistency.
So it is symmetric.
So that's another good thing
about being able to refilm this
is because I said it was asymmetric last time.
And all the old heads might've come from me.
Top Fuel, they're strong, solid.
They're high-end ball.
It's like 250, 052, something like that.
So it's kind of like a phase two numbers kind of deal.
But that's what they had back then
because they didn't have all this,
all this Earl on the lane.
Jalen is going to be throwing
our premier high-end bowling ball
in the Storm Product International lineup.
The Ion Max, as you guys know,
super strong cover, big old asymmetric core.
Numbers and they come up on the screen.
I think I remember them though.
247055 with a 14 intermediate.
Oh, it's only 14 intermediate?
If that was correct,
give me some applause down in the comments below.
But we are going to be seeing
if really technology has taken a step forward
in 20 some years.
So we're bowling on a good amount of oil.
We're bowling on the PBA Earl Anthony
from 2024, it's 44 feet or something like that.
33 mils.
I don't think any top fuel in existence
has ever seen that much oil.
So we're going to see if it hooks.
We already know the answer
because we bowled this match three weeks ago.
Just for the record, I did win that one.
But we're going to see if we do that again.
But we're just going to let you guys see the difference
in technology and how they react to the oil,
all the oil in the lanes.
But enough talking, let's do bowling.
All right, here we go.
And just for comparison, at the end of the video,
I do have a harsh reality solid with me too.
Same exact layout.
This ball has a four and a half inch pin
with what was a four inch mass,
which is a value of zero
because it's a symmetric ball with a two buffer.
So same layout as my harsh reality solid.
I haven't thrown a ball in about 10, 15 minutes.
So who knows what's going to happen?
Here we go.
It's going to strike.
Four, six.
Pretty mild transition though.
It's actually looking a little bit spicier
than it did last time when we bowled,
but you'll kind of see the shape difference
between the way his transitions and mine does.
Even though his rev rate is substantially lower,
he's probably going to be further left than me
because his ball just hooks a little more.
Ah!
Forgot where I stood.
See, mine is like a really smooth, just kind of,
ugh!
My ball's just kind of going, ugh, into the pocket.
His, like, got there and went, ah!
So it's kind of the main difference I think we're seeing.
If he wanted to be further left, he probably could.
For me, I don't know if I could if I wanted to be.
There you go, guys.
It just doesn't.
It's not digging into the lane.
It does not dig.
And it has, like, if you guys have felt older Reactaballs,
like, it just has, like, an old feel to it.
Not like how modern day, high-end dull balls feel
where they just feel gritty.
It's just, I don't know how to describe it,
but if you're above the age of 30, you can probably guess.
All right.
We gotta dial that in.
So I can't imagine he's feeling
like he has to make this ball hook.
Maybe he is.
I don't know.
But I definitely, now, I need to feel like
I gotta get it to pick up.
I had my one shot of warmup that four-sixed,
and that one was pretty good.
Dig is the proper term, I think.
His ball is digging much harder.
I'm pretty sure if I went to my harsh reality,
it's probably like a,
at least a five-board move to the left,
which hopefully we'll show you.
But first and foremost, I cannot be losing to Jalen.
Why does he carry it?
See, it kind of, like, wants to pick up,
and then it just can't.
Just not slowing that.
Like, I feel like my level would hook
about as much as this ball.
I'm not gonna lie.
It's a nasty comparison.
It is true.
I thought I rolled that last one pretty good.
Like, is that gonna hook?
Almost didn't.
I just gotta keep in mind that.
I crop dusted.
I ain't gonna lie.
Oh my.
That's on me, gang.
That's on me.
I didn't think you were going back there.
Where'd you think I was going?
To, like, the side or something.
Wow!
That was supposed to strike.
Something was supposed to come over there.
I disagree.
I don't think you deserve to get a break
for another month and a half.
So, early consensus.
Yeah.
Balls have gotten stronger in 20 years.
It was probably more or less a rhetorical question,
but we just really wanted to show you.
He's looking like he's gotta get his ball to stop hooking,
and I need to get this one to start hooking.
Nine pin.
Jesus.
Just wouldn't be this channel
if we didn't have a nine pin.
I guess.
Yeah, this ball almost feels like,
the way it goes through the front part of the lane,
it feels like a lower end solid ball of today.
Does it feel like a dull tropical surge?
Sort of.
It's like the solid tropical flared a lot.
Yeah, my balls ain't doing that.
Come on, top fuel.
You hit me harder?
Try not to.
I'm trying to bowl like it's 2002.
I got a glove on.
Give it that sweet, sweet roll.
Whoa, right back, baby.
We're right back.
Always get you back in there.
Not the, not the textbook way to shoot that,
but whatever.
Yeah, I don't inherently have any fear
of my ball doing that.
Not after the first frame.
That one might.
That was a me thing.
I was like, ah, just roll it.
Clobbered it.
Didn't roll it.
Wow.
Would you dub that the J-rag special?
No.
Well, yeah.
Yeah.
No more goofing off.
Just got to roll it in there.
Roll it in there.
Whoa.
Trying to get it off my hand.
I can't tell if like your ball hooks earlier
or if it goes longer,
but it definitely hooks more on the back end.
It's like the old.
I think it hooks earlier.
It's like the old cover stocks just don't adhere
to the lane.
That's what it feels like.
They just don't adhere to the lane.
Oh, it hooked earlier.
Ah.
Give me one of those, man.
Is that your new league ball?
No.
Whoa.
We got a match here, folks.
Make a small move,
but I got to put that sweet, sweet roll on it.
Oh, yeah.
Pop, pop, pop.
You cut the pinky of it?
I cut that a while ago.
It's falling apart on me a little bit.
My pinky's too long.
That's not your ball.
No dog.
It's an unfortunate.
Oh.
Oh, it's wide.
Yeah, my ball's not coming back from there.
Top fuel if I throw like that.
She's staying there.
Oh my gosh.
All right, just like the last one.
It almost feels like a, yeah, it feels like a level.
Not gonna lie.
There's no way, bro.
I wish I had the level with me.
I mean, the word that comes to mind
just feels like a super urethane ball.
Should've been a super series, a summer series ball.
I did throw it once.
I missed the hit then.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, shut him out already.
I win.
Good for me.
Whoa.
Unfortunate.
Re-rack it, we'll throw the harsh reality.
Should I throw it from the same spot
or should I move left?
Throw it from the same spot
so everybody can see the difference.
All right, y'all.
Harsh reality from the same spot.
Just so you guys can see the difference.
They didn't look like the same spot.
Huh?
They look like the same spot?
Yeah, it just didn't get through it.
Ah, okay, okay, okay.
It slowed down earlier.
They do hook earlier.
Substantially earlier.
I mean, like, I don't know what the top fuel cover is,
like material-wise.
Obviously, I can look up a name for it,
but obviously we know like harsh reality
has the full nano additives in it.
It's got a little extra, as Jalen would do.
So that right there, you can see,
I feel like those last two got on a similar line
through the front.
Harsh reality just...
Throw it again.
Bye-bye.
Throw it again.
Yeah, do your usual move.
So I'm gonna go,
I think five is the appropriate number.
That was a poorly thrown shot too,
but it's like modern-day balls,
they hook earlier and they hook more on the back end.
Does it have to do with the cover?
Yeah.
Does it have to do with the asymmetry?
Probably, but there you go.
I'll go finish out your pathetic game.
Well, now it's over.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
Hope you guys enjoyed this video.
Just a little, just a fun little match.
Nice.
Fun little match comparing some old equipment
to some new equipment.
I think we can definitively say,
newer balls hook more.
Newer balls hook more, yeah.
So if you are throwing the same ball from 20 years ago,
you should probably come in for an update.
