In the first part of Lesson 5, we learned a bit about likes and dislikes, as well as the extent of a degree.
So, 喜物 xǐ wù, 喜 means like, while 物 wù means dislike.
喜物 xǐ wù, and the extent of a degree, 程度 chéngdù, 喜欢 means like,
不喜欢 bù xǐ huān, dislike
The 不 character means negation.
讨厌 tǎo yàn, dislike
Again, 不 means negation, so 不讨厌 does not dislike,
and this is often used when one feels neutral or likes something.
不讨厌 bù tǎo yàn
爱 ài, this one character means love.
But nowadays, one can also use it to express that you like something a lot, so 爱 ài
Opposite of that is 恨 hèn, 恨 means hate.
It can also mean dislike a lot, so 恨 hèn
Now, a character similar to 恨, but is very different in meaning,
恨 hěn, 恨 means very, so 很喜欢 hěn xǐ huān is likes a lot.
恨 hěn
非常 fēi cháng, similar meaning to 恨, it means very, extremely, or exceptionally.
非常 fēi cháng
Another word also similar to the previous two, 特别 tè bié, which means special, particular, or especially.
特别 tè bié
很特别 hěn tè bié means very special, while 特别喜欢 tè bié xǐ huān means likes a lot.
特别 tè bié
We've seen a lot or very earlier, and now it's a little or a bit, which we have two expressions for.
The first is 一点 yì diǎn, the second is 有点 yǒu diǎn.
The first character 一 yī means one, and the second character 有 yǒu means have.
As for 点 diǎn, in the video when we were talking about time and hours,
we mentioned that 点 diǎn could mean point in terms of verb as well as noun,
but here it just means a bit, so 一点 yì diǎn, a little, 有点 yǒu diǎn, a bit.
And finally, last word we're going to see about extent today, 不够 bú gòu, not enough.
不 bú means no, and 够 gòu means enough, so 不够 bú gòu, not enough.
不够 bú gòu
