Today in San Ignacio, Belize, I'm going to be eating Chinese food and we're going to be eating
super spicy Indian food. Belizean Chinese food and Belizean Indian food, it's a battle for the ages.
Let's start with Belizean Chinese food at Max's. So I just talked to the owner. Hilarious. We had
to beg him to let us film in here. Oh, hello. Hi. How are you guys? Hello. Can I come in?
America. Yes, I'm from America. I've been to China. I've been to Shanghai,
Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xi'an, and Beijing. So I've been to five cities in China. I have to go next time
to Chongqing. Who connects us? That's right. This is called the wok. This is how they make the best
fried rice and noodles in China. Everywhere I've gone, Guyana, Trinidad, Dominica, they always use
the wok. That's the real Chinese way. They don't have this. It's not Chinese style, right?
It's a monster egg with the pork and vegetables. It looks so good. Wow. That vegetable gravy
on top of the egg is so unreal. So you guys are from Canton, right? And you're from this area?
Somewhere there in Canton. It's a place I haven't been to, by the way. I haven't been to Hong Kong.
I haven't been to Guangzhou. It's like a mega city area. Look right here. I want to go here.
Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fushan, all this. My boy, the food ranger, he's dominated this. Destroyed this.
We'll go there one day with him. For now, we're going to have some food. Oh, thank you so much,
sir.
We'll say it for you. Thank you so much. Yes. So that's the owner. He's so kind. He made for me
the roasted pork egg with roasted pork. With roasted pork, of course. And then over here,
we have the shrimp chow mein. Oh, nice light. They're so nice. I want to get some of this.
We are going to two restaurants to get light. I'll have this tomorrow morning as well, man.
Little leftovers, right? Get some shrimp here. It's been a while since I've done one of these
little mukbang. Over here, we have the roasted pork egg foo young. So I'll try this one first
because it looks amazing. Super delicious.
Oh my gosh. I love that sauce to add to it.
Very moist, saucy. This is the ultimate pork omelette. So actually, it comes from
Chinese mainland Guangdong in the Canton region. It comes from the name foo young egg slices.
Foo young egg slices. That's what it comes from. So it comes from that. Yeah, but it is
a derivative from British Chinese and Chinese American as well as Chinese Indonesian as well.
Well, it's fantastic. I love, love. No, it's great. This dish. You know what it is? It's
the amount of textures in there, man. And it's so saucy. That gravy is outstanding.
So we have chow mein, rice noodles. My boy Mark would be proud of me.
The best thing to do is mix it. Oh, so oily. I love the sauce they add.
It's like a vinaigrette. It's amazing. Outstanding. Outstanding dishes.
The one thing they can't go wrong with is fried rice and chow mein.
You know what it is? China has such a huge influence in the Caribbean. We go to Suriname,
to Guyana, Trinidad. I mean, everywhere. Central America and Latin America, full of Chinese. So
Chinese have immigrated over the past, you know, 100 years. Every decade, people are moving in
and they bring their culture with them, right? Their delicious flavors, the sauces they use,
the way they technique in their cooking, right?
You guys, learn how to use chopsticks. So we will make a list eventually. The best Chinese food
in the Caribbean. Chinese food makes me so happy. I've been to China twice. Love it.
More rico. Too much. Have you had this before? Many times. Many times. Yeah, it's very common
in the Bay Area and in New York. I've definitely had it a few times as well.
This is amazing, but it's missing one thing. That's a David's Vineyard hot sauce. David's
Vineyard hot sauce right here, bro. I haven't tried this before. Noodles with David's Vineyard
hot sauce. It's the first. It's good, bro. It's so good with it.
That pineapple, guava, tropical flavor. That chili, Kashmiri. It's good. I'm gonna hold off.
We still have Indian food to do. I don't know if I can eat it. I'll try. We're gonna try one of the
spiciest Indian dishes in Central America. Do you like it? Yeah, it was really good. It was
delicious. So good. I'm full. Let's go have some Indian food. It's been a while. You ready? I'm
ready for it. Let's go. Oh, you're so kind. He's too kind. He calmed us. This guy is too nice.
Coming in his food. That roasted pork, egg, food, yum. So good. So good. The sauce plus the chow mein.
Fantastic. I wish you and your family prosperity. Thank you so much. Thank you. Let's go. Let's go.
Thank you so much. Bye-bye. Bye-bye. Thank you. It's time to walk from San Ignacio again
straight to our restaurant. We went there yesterday. We had a beer because we were like,
oh, we're so full. But now I'm pretty full. I'm still going to eat some Indian food.
Super spicy. It's actually the spiciest South Indian dish in all of Central America. What I
love about this restaurant besides their amazing menu, they have a lot of lamb, but they have
Indian food, which is so unique because I guess the owner lives in Zimbabwe and his wife is South
Indian descent, something like that, right? So he makes Indian dishes and they have like a
like stools outside and then they have inside. You want to sit inside or what are you going to do?
My friend's going to get the lamb burger and then for me, I'm going to get the very hot spicy
South Indian dish. Beef or pork. Beef or pork. What do you think? Beef it is. And then I guess
what's the other Indian dish? I don't know right now. It should be this one.
I guess that's a chop off, right?
Rice always. That's the Indian way. Shopping India. These are my hands tonight.
And then also I'll take one of the beers.
It's more like regular people. No, but Floria's.
She's like, you never see men eating food. I'm like, yeah, because now you like me.
That's the first kathuri in the list.
Oh, it's so good. Nice coffee notes.
It's a lot of food. It's like extra food. So what do you think? Looks like India, right?
Have this here. Enjoy. We had the Chinese food and now we're going to try
super spicy Indian food. Chinese versus Indian food challenge. Who's going to win?
How spicy can this be?
I'm going to hit you right away. Nice beef.
Oh, got some in there, but lots of chili.
Oh my gosh, bro.
Sweat right away.
Nice and creamy.
How about over here? It's a different type of Vindaloo.
You guys don't know, Vindaloo's are going there.
Right here.
I'm sweating, but I love Indian food, so I'm going to eat.
Only way to really experience the heat level is to continue to eat.
What in the hell?
Pretty bad. Shake Shack level. Shake Shack spice level.
Look at this line right now.
I'm waiting for us to leave, huh?
That's why I want to go to the bathroom.
Starts to hit the center of my lips.
Perfect hot. You know what?
You had to come a little bit late to get the hottest.
It is all yogurt, bro.
I like literally felt it in my ears.
Yes, please.
I need something to calm me down.
Nothing will help you get rid of heat like milk.
Always there.
Holy smokes.
You're the best.
How's that lamb?
So they put some honey in this yogurt.
They give it to you on the side.
Of course, they know you're going to melt.
Oh, wow.
That is good.
It's the only way to survive this.
I've had spicy Indian dishes, and that thing might take the cake.
The beef is super tender, but the spice level is insane.
A little more beef, right?
A little more heat.
We're going to have a low heat, but...
The beef is worth it.
Yes.
We need to eat two more bites, maybe.
Two more?
Yes.
Two more bites?
It's a challenge.
Oh, it's a real challenge?
I didn't know it was a challenge.
Good.
There it is.
Oh, god.
Yeah.
Thank god, bro.
It's too hot.
The birds and the whole staff felt so bad for me there.
Like, you have to have our locally made rum cake to calm down that heat.
I'm so overwhelmed right now with the heat.
Rum cake.
Nice glazing rum.
Okay, I know.
I'm impressed by David's been here endless bit.
It's an endless bit.
It's a very painful dish.
Spiciest Indian dish I've ever had.
I'll tell you, the hospitality at the Chinese restaurant was unreal.
The guy literally, like, became my other Chinese dad, you know?
So, so kind, even though we didn't, you know, talk.
In terms of, I just lost the translation.
It was super nice.
His food was amazing.
This is good too, but personally, this is just way too spicy.
I mean, unless you have a death wish, I wouldn't eat that dish.
It's too hot.
Even I, like, I'm a spicy guy, but way too hot.
And yeah, that's Indian versus Chinese food here in Belize.
What do you guys think?
Which wins for you?
