C. Ronaldo vs Leo Messi (Performances Comparison) | Portugal - Argentina 2015

This is Old Trafford, this is a very special evening, an international friendly, and the teams are in the park. This receives a senior international debut at left-back, in place of Rafael Guerrero, Andre Gomes gets a start in midfield, Helder Postega drops down to the substitutes' bench. But this man, in the eyes of many, Messi is currently unassailable at the top of the World Cup, but both he and Messi. Lionel Messi has lost his Ballon d'Or crown, of course, to Cristiano Ronaldo, and will be hoping to retain it when the glittering ceremony arrives again in Zurich in January. Holding midfield role, but for Messi. For Messi. Obviously in support is Messi. Messi again. Lovely little ball to Di Maria! Just a little cute pass here from Messi, into the stride of Di Maria. The game's opening chance falling to Di Maria and Argentina. Messi. And Salvi. Players who have played just across the city. Manchester City. Suspectedly a goal or two there from Cristiano Ronaldo. It wasn't that long ago that a group of Manchester United fans paid for an aeroplane to fly over a La Liga match, trailing behind it a banner saying, Come home, Cristiano. Here's Ronaldo. Pepe. Three goals already this season for Real Madrid. Thiago. Oh, lovely flick from Ronaldo. The space here for Bosingwa. Jose Bosingwa. Lovely, delightful touch here from Ronaldo. Leo Messi. The debutant, Thiago Gomes. Villar. Looks for Messi again, flag stays down! Oh, and right across the face! It was such an acute angle, he just couldn't find the back of the net. Great little burst of acceleration from Lionel Messi. How often we've seen it onside, Pepe playing him on. May just have touched off the near post of the goalkeeper, Beto, we'll see it from this terrific angle. Just came off the post. Messi. We often see him come as deep as this to link the play. He's adapting. Alves. Face there from Bruno Alves. Caglia. Lionel Messi. Ronaldo doing the defending. The periphery of the game now, Cristiano Singha. There's Jose Bosingwa, he's in behind Argentina here, excellent ball in, taking up the toe of Ronaldo, but he's there again, Ronaldo! And it's over. Well, he was twisting, turning, almost sending Villar out of the ground. Jose Bosingwa is in behind Argentina here, excellent ball in, taking up the toe of Ronaldo, but he's there again, Ronaldo! And it's over. Well, he was twisting, turning... His eyes would have lit up when Bosingwa produced the earlier cross. Messi. He's run Caglia. Here's Messi. Villar. Run from Messi. Bruno Alves across swiftly. That's a foul. Demichelis. He's lost his footing here, Messi. Gomez. It's a little lift in the tempo from Portugal, it seems. Nani. No angle is beyond this, man. Given way here to Nani. Ancelotti and Martial having to produce a yellow card here. Ronaldo told the ball before Ancelotti could arrive, and it's a clear foul. The referee decides... I think he does try to pull out of it, in fairness, looking at that replay. Just about where Ronaldo is placed, on the edge of the area. Ronaldo. I'm not sure what Ronaldo did wrong there. I don't think he can feel aggrieved that the free-kick went... Old Trafford lights up to mobile phone cameras, and we've seen all around the stadium as Messi delivers! Not over. His head back in slight disappointment there. Put some velocity in the shot. But not dipping. Had it been on target, I think Beto was covering it. Messi. Found the range with his... Here's Messi. Caglia, racing up in support again, uses a decoy by Messi. Ronaldo's free. Ancelotti. Now Moutinho. I suspect the Portugal goalkeeper will be facing... a few Messi... Here's Pepe. Just accidental. Immediately offering his apology here, Cristiano Ronaldo. For the fair court, Lucas Billier. Just his eyes on the ball there. He didn't see where Billier was, but that was painful. See the reaction straight away from Ronaldo here. The wind out of the Lazio midfielder, Lucas Billier. In terms of the chances so far in this game, Argentina have had the better. Ronaldo had a quiet start to the game, has come more into it in the last quarter of an hour or so. He had one shot over the bar, that's the only real sight of the Argentina goal he's had so far on his return to Old Trafford. In the post, Di Maria went close. And Pastore produced a save out of Beto with a header. Coming on to replace Dani in attack. Just waiting to learn if there will be any changes in personnel for Tata Martino.
