Since childhood, we are used to being told what to do by others, so self-study at first can be said to be very difficult.
However, once you get used to self-study, everything will gradually become interesting and effective.
You can choose what you want to study, you can also choose the time and place of study that you like.
When studying in class, trying to complete the tasks assigned in order to get a grade, a certificate or something, sometimes it does not reflect your ability.
If you only study it because you are under pressure.
And when self-study, you fully understand your own ability to develop your ability and apply it to work in the most effective way.
Now, let's watch this video to unpack the secrets of self-study.
The first step is extremely important, but without this step, 99% of self-study will fail.
That is mental preparation.
What is mental preparation and why is it so important?
Sometimes I am very excited to learn something, but only 2-3 days or very good is 2 weeks, then I will give up.
The reason why most people give up is because they have not prepared their minds in advance.
For example, I was once suggested by YouTube for a Korean language learning channel, I also found it interesting and tried to learn.
But I didn't finish learning 7 words, I gave up.
I wanted to learn how to make videos, but only 2-3 weeks, I felt bored and didn't want to study anymore.
Because the human mind always wants to achieve something very quickly.
And I will try very hard in the first 1-2 weeks.
However, there are skills that I have to give up for 6 months, 8 months, even 1 year, 2 years to learn, then I can achieve the results I want.
The problem is that before I could not figure out how much time and effort it would take to learn this.
And I just got excited, I went to school, the result was that I would be easily discouraged after a short time.
This is what the gangster called not knowing how to gain strength.
So before learning something, I need to find out how long it takes to learn it.
I can find people who have successfully learned to ask.
For example, how long did you take to communicate in Korean?
Or how long did you practice drawing to draw such a beautiful picture?
Sometimes I think in my stomach the answer is 1-2 years.
But when I hear people answer 3-4 years, I just see one thing, I evaluate myself a bit high.
The second reason that makes me and many friends give up is not having a clear goal.
It's like I like it, so I study, but I don't know what to study for.
Or I see my friends go to school, so I also catch up with them.
In this case, you will usually study by yourself for a few days, then if you are busy with something, you will give up.
But going to college or going to work is very easy to cause stress.
In short, the first problem when self-studying is easy to give up.
To overcome giving up, we need two things.
One is the goal, the other is the course.
About the goal, it should be clear.
For example, you want to learn English yourself so that you can have a good job later.
OK, that's the goal, but it's still a bit too similar.
If I'm just studying for the first year, it's a bit far away.
So I should set a short-term goal to learn English to read books.
Or learn English to watch foreign programs.
If I have a clear goal, I will have more motivation to learn by myself and it will be easier to go to the course.
Next, I will go to the course.
As I said, we will ask the seniors first to see how long it takes them to learn those skills.
Some people answer 6 months, some people answer 8 months, some people answer 1 year.
Then I will take an average time of 9 months.
And if I feel like I'm studying slowly, I will take 1 year.
Let me prepare my mind.
I will take 1 year to learn this skill.
If possible, I can ask more.
How many sessions do you learn this for a week?
How many hours a session do you learn?
So I can imagine the effort they put in.
Before going to the detailed course, I have to understand what I want to learn in advance.
Usually, what you want to learn, you already understand it in advance.
But if I don't know, I need to find out in advance.
For example, if you learn marketing by yourself, you need to understand the basic problems.
What is marketing?
What is the role of marketing?
What are the elements of marketing?
Just like learning a foreign language, it will include the main elements of vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar.
When you have grasped the basics, you can go to the detailed course.
For example, if I learn the design of a painting by myself, I will ask the seniors first where I will learn from.
And what do I need to prepare to follow?
There is a very good way.
I will go to Google to find advertising pages for classes to refer to their learning process.
For example, this is a painting design course.
It is clear what I will learn and how long I will learn.
I just need to go to Google, refer to many different sources to create the most suitable learning process for myself.
During the course, I can adjust more.
If you can do this step, I think you have prepared your mind very well.
Limit to the maximum to give up in the middle.
The next problem is how to learn by yourself to be effective.
And I will share some ways to learn more effectively.
On Facebook, there are many groups created for everyone to share their experience.
You can join groups on Facebook or follow YouTube channels with the same topic.
To see everyone share their experience in their learning process.
Or just simply listen to everyone mention some knowledge, some problem that I do not know.
Then I will quickly find out what it is.
Maybe I will find something interesting and useful.
I just need to click on the search bar on Facebook and YouTube.
Then it will give a lot of information.
Besides, I can find myself a guide.
Can understand as a teacher.
Oh, so it's different from going to school. I'm self-taught.
It's different. When going to school, my study will completely follow the teacher.
For example, the teacher feels that my level is suitable to do this exercise.
Then the teacher will specify and my mission is to follow.
And self-study is that I will choose what I want to learn, what exercise I want to do.
If it feels too easy or too difficult, then I will adjust it myself.
When I don't know, I will find the teacher to ask.
Or when I make a work, I will need a teacher to evaluate.
Why do I need a teacher?
Because usually I will not be able to see where I am lacking.
When doing an exercise or creating a product, I need a person with higher expertise to evaluate and point out my shortcomings.
For example, when I draw a portrait, I feel it is not beautiful, but I do not know where it is not beautiful.
So I really need a person with expertise to comment and give me advice.
Sometimes my product is still very poor, but in my eyes I think it's good, it's beautiful.
It's like the first time I decorated myself, it was very messy, but I thought I was a god.
Suppose you have a good teacher, but you only learn automatically, then your ability only stops at normal level.
But if you combine it with the ability to learn by yourself, your ability will develop according to the number of people.
When you go to the center, go to class, you learn all the programs that the teacher gives.
Then I will receive a grade, a certificate, which makes me think I have learned it.
Sometimes I just learn by heart, learn by ear, learn by copy, because the teacher puts too much pressure.
So the ability to write on the grade is a visual ability.
And there are also knowledge that the teacher forced me to learn, but I don't know what to learn for.
So learning is not effective.
And when I learn by myself, I will definitely feel that I have absorbed that knowledge.
And I also clearly know what my purpose of learning is.
I have just analyzed for you to see clearly how self-learning and going to class are different.
Although both need a teacher, without a teacher, can you learn by yourself?
For example, when I just drew a picture, I couldn't see how beautiful it was.
But 1-2 months later, my skills have improved, my eyes have improved.
I look back at the old picture and I can clearly see how I have improved.
And if you want to feel it right away, there is still a way.
After you finish drawing, you take it away, you sleep for a night.
The next morning I will take it out to compare with the standard drawings that I found in the sources.
From there I will see that my drawing is not as good as the good drawings.
Or I learn English, I can take my phone and record my reading.
2 months later I can open it to see how I have improved.
Some of you are confident that you can post your work on social media or post it on your personal page to be criticized.
And I am a person with a fragile soul, so I have never dared to try this way.
Let me give you a super effective way to successfully achieve self-learning results.
In the past, I had a stupid thought like this.
I went to school and realized that my skills were still very bad.
So I was self-conscious, I didn't dare to apply for a job.
Until I saw friends like me, even worse than me, but they still applied for a job.
And only after a short time, their skills surpassed me.
At that time, I just got out.
So when you already have some basic skills,
you can look for a job so you can practice those skills.
Not only that, I can also learn more from colleagues around me to develop faster.
Those are my teachers.
Of course, the salary will be very low, but that doesn't matter because my current goal is to study.
If I can work every day, my operations will be faster and I can handle practical problems.
So even if I don't get paid, I'm still an advantageous person.
I feel that I can learn a lot from going to work.
But it depends on the situation, I can't always apply this way.
Because at work, I have to be able to arrange it.
It's not that I want to do it, I do it, I like to think, I think.
When I go to work, I have to be responsible for my work.
Once I have used my self-learning knowledge in my work, self-learning seems to have been successful.
Self-learning also has one more difficulty.
It requires the self-learner to have a relatively good ability to think and analyze problems.
My advice is that you don't wait for yourself to have that ability, then you start self-learning.
But you have to self-learn to practice your self-learning skills.
Maybe the first time I failed, I went to sign up for class.
The second time I failed, I went to sign up for class.
But by the third and fourth time, my self-learning skills have improved a lot.
I can share self-learning with you.
Certainly not because I was born with that ability, but because I have tried to self-learn many times.
After many failures, I can put it all together and share with you my self-learning experiences.
Besides, I can create a habit of watching YouTube channels about knowledge as an entertainment.
After 1-2 years, the amount of knowledge I have accumulated is quite remarkable.
When I have a total amount of knowledge, I may discover some interesting and useful knowledge.
Then I can start a self-learning activity for myself.
In this video, I have shared the overview of how to self-learn.
If you are interested in this topic, I can make more videos to share more details.
If you find the video useful, you can click the subscribe button.
Because it takes a lot of effort, YouTube has just offered more for my channel.
