week for a vote this is in his own words we just pulled this from his own account welcome to Doug in exile this is where the heavy patriots are we have to have the SAVE Act pass or illegals are gonna legislation in Republicans affordability agenda and next week I will be bringing the SAVE America Act to the floor and we'll be having a full and robust debate so mr. president what is the SAVE America Act it is a package of common-sense policies the kind of common-sense policies that should get an automatic yes vote from literally every member of this body at the core of the SAVE America Act is the requirement that individuals provide proof of citizenship to register to vote and then show an ID when they go to the polls now that's what he claims I'm just giving you the backstory of what the SAVE Act is it's basically voter ID requirement there's other things that Trump stuck in there on making trans surgeries on children illegal I think it's a mistake actually add a bunch of other stuff on there the other thing that Trump said was he's gonna tighten up the mail-in ballots that you had to have you know whatever you couldn't fake you know you couldn't just use them for nothing and that John Fetterman had said he supports the SAVE Act other than that mail-in ballot provision so now you just lost a vote one vote on that so anytime you add something to it not a good idea real quick I'm just gonna get into the rules on the filibuster because this is why he's being called a fraud that this is not an honest claim that he is gonna bring it up to vote next week but he knows it's gonna fail why because of the filibuster let me read this to you real quick the SAVE Act does not inherently require a supermajority for passage in the Senate as most legislation can technically pass with a simple majority of 51 votes and we have those 51 votes however under current Senate rules if opponents engage in a filibuster that is the Democrats go we're doing a filibuster they don't have to do a standing filibuster they can just claim it in word and that's why the Republicans want them to call for an actual standing filibuster it's a procedural tactic to prolong debate and block a vote the bills supporters the Republicans must first secure 60 votes to invoke cloture which ends the debate and allows a final vote to proceed so these are weird arcane rules where the Congress says you know you can just announce a filibuster and not actually stand and then suddenly you magically have to go from 50 votes to 60 votes because it would take cloture that's why Trump wants to remove the filibuster all the other filibuster has always been there or been there largely it has good sides and bad sides we're at the bad side and we already know as Trump has said the Democrats are going to remove the filibuster if they take the Senate back meaning everything that they want will be a simple majority okay I hope that helps make sense this 60 vote threshold is what creates the effective need for a supermajority in practice especially given strong Democrat opposition to the bill which they argue could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters that's why they're saying it's it's Jim Crow blah blah it's meant to disparage black voters which is a totally racist thing for Democrats to say but they've always been racist about blacks by the way the filibuster I would argue the reason why it has to get taken out and made done with is requiring that 60 vote supermajority makes Congress largely ineffective they're no longer a representative government that's why something can be 95% popular with the Republican Party like the Save America Act and it can't get passed so Congress can't do anything it's why they seem so ineffective here's Jonathan in other words it would require Americans to demonstrate that they're eligible to vote and that they are who they say they are when they go to do so not to keep using the word common sense but it's pretty common sense right we require photo ID for a whole lot of things in this country for obvious reasons getting on a plane show your official government issued photo ID go okay so this is just fake news that's largely what people are saying I'm gonna go to the comments down below here's ALX who I follow quite a bit on the news he says this is a setup to set up the bill to fail invoke the talking filibuster is our only chance you can force the talking filibuster just do it or step down here's talking filibuster no cloture games 51 votes to pass so that's what they're hoping will happen but it's not that isn't gonna happen guys and so I do agree with the proper structure of trying this first give it a chance to fail okay so fine the Democrats say we want to filibuster it requires a 60 vote supermajority and then it fails and then soon ought to turn straight around and say fine now we're gonna try the talking filibuster and I don't know if the rules allow you to bring it back up once it fails here's a no talking filibuster means you are not giving it a chance you have to go here's you already know it will fail without the filibuster bring the filibuster to the floor and make Republicans defend their outrageous position you just need to step down you obviously can't do the job if impotence had a face you seem to think everyone will just move on after your failure theater we won't the pressure will continue to build until the SAVE Act is passed this affects 2026 you guys know how obsessed with 2026 this upcoming midterm election because if Republicans lose that they're gonna try to blame Trump even though Trump is not on the ballot and really what could be the source of the loss is the ineffective Congress could be why we lose and this would be the number one reason is that people can't stomach getting behind guys like Thune just in his defense he's just playing by the rules that they've always used and then to accuse him I would say he's too dumb and naive to realize how late in the game how late in the Republic we are that we're about to get dismantled by a bunch of illegal alien voters they're gonna stop anything we dreamed of in 2026 and 28 because they're gonna allow illegal aliens to vote without an ID they'll make it a law a federal law that you can't just like California has where you can't even ask for an identification for anyone regarding voting because they'll say it's Jim Crow Thune I think is really playing with fire here he might be hoping it wins but man we got to put pressure on him I have to make a quick correction by Caroline Leavitt here because yesterday I reported that Iran could be targeting LA that there was information that they could be going after LA Caroline Leavitt says of the ABC News headline FBI warns police in California that Iran wants to retaliate US attacks by launching drones against the West Coast she says that's fake news this post and story should be immediately retracted by ABC News for providing false information that is it was an unverified claim I don't want to ever have fake news go out to you guys if I claim there's evidence for something and there's no evidence for it that was a false claim she clarified it and I'm Karen yes you know I carry the Trump administration's message to all of you here's John Solomon on what could end up affecting that SAVE Act vote is if we find out that China was messing with our elections through voter ID John Solomon says that information will be coming out next week that could influence that debate watch this not in Maricopa County not in Fulton County there is an extraordinary review going on by the CIA director the FBI director the Director of National Intelligence so Tulsi Gabbard John Ratcliffe and Kash Patel they have found a body of documents that I think will trouble all of us and probably will have a profound effect on the Senate debate over the Save America Act a lot of senators are sitting up there saying I don't know if I need to vote for this I don't know what the politics wait a second when they find out that maybe voter identities in their state databases were penetrated by China and used in influence operations that may change their mind and so I think the debate in the Senate could be informed by what comes out in the next few weeks that will be additional pressure that we in media can use on John Thune and say look China penetrated some of our voter rolls with either fake IDs or unjustified IDs and we need to step up our voter ID game that would be the pressure it's very complicated very hard to market and package and get blasted out to everyone and get them to believe and then turn around and put pressure on Thune and their Republicans to get them to vote right but that's a different tactic if you're gonna bring up the filibuster and yes we must end the filibuster yes Thune even if he doesn't in the filibuster he had at least stand up and do a real talking filibuster what do you think let very eminent let's tune in is Senator Thune listening to you when you say you want to pass the Save America Act he says there aren't the votes to do it right now what's your response well he's got to be a leader you know he's a leader he's got to get them it's the most popular bill I've ever seen put before Congress and it's voter ID and it's voter you have to be able to be a citizen to vote it's called citizenship and we're also adding in no men playing in women's sports no transgender mutilization of our children and no mail-in ballots fake mail-in ballots we have none of that except in the case of the military it says it is the Save America Act it's the most popular bill I think I've ever put before so very interesting right John Thune you know he's getting called out by Trump himself and here's John Thune essentially responding take a listen President Trump told me yesterday that it would take Democratic voters to pass the Save America Act do you think the MAGA base has an unrealistic expectation of passing that legislation without Democrats? I think there are a lot of there are a lot of optimistic views about what Democrats may or may not do we all know because we deal with every day that the Democrats are not all of a sudden going to decide that this is something they want to be for so yeah again I mean I think you have a lot of optimists out there and I appreciate that and a lot of passion energy behind getting an outcome here but getting an outcome would require Democrat votes and and you know we'll give them a chance like I said they'll have an opportunity to vote one way or the other on this but I would be very very surprised. Does it make it more difficult that the president keeps adding pieces of policy to this legislation would it be better if you just had a straight up-or-down vote on photo ID or citizenship for instance? We certainly want to vote on the issues that came over from the House this president has since that time added some additional components to his request which we will figure out a way to get votes on as well but obviously I think the core issue with respect to the Save America Act is ensuring that non-citizens aren't voting in American elections and only citizens are voting in our elections. Which I feel like everyone should agree with and what there are some Democrats too who should who most likely would vote for that like who John Fetterman. John Thune actually talked about all of the other stuff going on with the stuff going on with the war and as the Senate is moving forward and how the Operation Epic Fury is underway so let's tune in guys to John Thune. Leader Thune thank you very much good to have you with us this afternoon give us a sense of thank you sir of what's going on on the floor right now and does this have any teeth I mean you know even if you adhere to the War Powers Act which has always been controversial the president would still have 60 days to carry out this action before he would need to go back to Congress right? Correct and that's why this is a political vote Martha this is all about the Democrats again mainly through their Trump derangement syndrome blindly in their blind hatred of the president just being opposed to anything that he wants to do I mean clearly there are Democrats I believe who understand that what we're doing in Iran right now makes all the sense in the world from a national security standpoint but this is an attempt again to try to derail or step on the president's messaging around that and create a political issue where there really isn't one and that's why I'm hopeful we're gonna be able to defeat it because that's really what it is this is nothing more than political messaging on behalf of the Democrats this isn't going anywhere the president's acting well within his authorities the commander-in-chief. Yeah we're just a few days into this operation at this point but here's what Hakeem Jeffries the minority leader on the House side had to say about these strikes against Iran watch. The American people want us to focus on making their life better making their life more affordable not getting involved in another endless war in the that is going to end in failure. What do you think about that senator? Well first off I mean the Democrats ran up inflation you're talking about affordability let's talk about the you know the highest inflation in 40 years when Joe Biden was in the White House and the Democrats were running both the House and the Senate here they were passing massive new spending bills which flooded the economy with more dollars and drove up inflation and so all the inflation that we're seeing today as a result of policies that were implemented in that in that administration and with Democrats to control the Congress. What the president is doing in Iran is something that frankly should have been done probably arguably a long time ago but Iran has been building not only its nuclear capability but it's conventional weapons capability to a point that it would have threatened the entire region and obviously we have a lot of bases and military personnel in that region of the world and a lot of allies who would be affected by that and and run by a somebody who has said death to Israel death to America that's what they believe they are the biggest exporter of state or of terrorism in the world today and they are also they have more American blood on their hands than any any nation in the world if you look at the last 47 years so this is the president's taking steps to make the world and our country and our people safer. Yeah I want to ask you a little bit about Texas and that Senate race which I know you're watching very closely because it's one of the early sort of tests before we get into the the full midterm season here's what President Trump just said moments ago on truth social he is essentially calling upon one of them he said I will be making my endorsement soon in the Texas Senate race so just to remind everyone this is John Cornyn and Ken Paxton who are going up against each other in this race so the president is going to endorse soon and he will be asking the candidate that I don't endorse to immediately drop out of this race in capital letters your reaction to that senator. I've spoken with the president already today about Texas and I'm certainly hopeful I think is probably you know Martha I've made no secret of the fact that I hope the president will endorse John Cornyn he is an incredibly effective senator for the state of Texas strong conservative voice here in the United States Senate and and represents by far our very best hope of making sure that Texas stays red in November in that Senate election and so we'll see ultimately the president you know he makes his own decisions but I've certainly weighed in many a time many times I should say in support of Senator Cornyn and and I believe he is not only gonna win the primary but the general election in November. Yeah I was just watching Matt Whitlock who used to do the Republican Senate Committee he said he believes that an endorsement for Cornyn is coming from the president you said you just spoke with him is it coming shortly that endorsement from the president? Well I'm not gonna characterize that the conversations I've had with the president but I think it's fair to say that he's paying a lot of attention and he knows full well Megan how important it is that we hold Texas in in Republican column Republican hands and so I expect you'll be hearing from him before too long and I'm not certainly gonna get ahead of that but I'm just very hopeful that the endorsement will be for John Cornyn. All right we'll be following that and I should just mention that we're gonna speaking be speaking with Texas Senator John Cornyn tomorrow on this program and obviously this is a something that's gonna be watched very closely just very quickly leader you yesterday you were with Tim Scott and Senator Capito talking about this housing plan and I think it's one of the pieces of the economy that is is a little bit unanswered even after the State of the Union in terms of what kind of policy programs might be put forth to help people get houses other than you know lower mortgage rates which obviously the president would like to see what is this gonna look like? Well first off it is mortgage rates interest rates are a big part of that and the president is very passionate about driving down the cost of housing in this country and and you know particularly you talk about a lot of younger Americans Martha this is their opportunity to pursue the American dream to own their own home and we want to make it easier not harder and less expensive not more expensive so the housing bill and we just had a procedural vote to get on it here in the Senate got 90 votes the United States Senate that's very very rare but it will complement the things the president said some things in the State of the Union speech about restrictions on institutional investors ownership of you know single-family houses that sort of thing and so there will be things like that included in there that are reforms it will get rid and cut a lot of the red tape associated with some of these housing programs in this country and increase the supply of housing those are the things but we want to do it in a way that encourages private investment not more government and the nice thing about this is it doesn't cost a it doesn't cost a thing it doesn't have a score associated with it these are just changes that will increase supply reduce red tape and make I think important reforms that should make it more affordable for people to own homes in this country that's what it's all about and the president's very focused on the issue of affordability as are we and we're actually doing something about it unlike the Democrats who just ran up more government spending and and you know continued to pile up 40-year historic inflation when they had the majorities so we're just about a minute or so away from President Trump in the Oval Office senator so I do want to ask you one more question it has to do with how what your sense is of the American public's response to this operation epic fury I don't really want to look at the polls quite yet on this I think it's only a few days in and I think people are still kind of figuring out what they think about this but are you concerned about how long it will go on we heard Pete Hicks as Secretary of War say it looks like you know I think he said somewhere around a max of eight weeks right and I think you know that clearly the American people's patience and tolerance for long wars isn't great but I think what they are doing there is achieving the objectives that they set out to achieve and that is to diminish the capability of Iran to threaten the entire region and the world with nuclear and conventional weapons to diminish their naval capacity in that region and to end and ultimately I would love to see a leadership change there Martha I think the regime change is a is a worthwhile objective that's not something I think it's part of the president or our Defense Department or the State Department's objectives here but I think right now it's about achieving our military objectives and it's very clear those have been identified by the president his team and I think our the folks in the region are making significant headway in accomplishing that objective and we want to make sure that we continue to support them and and continue to pray for our men and women in uniform and particularly those who those families who have lost loved ones this is what Trump said you better go out and buy stock now let me tell you this country will will be like a rocket ship that goes straight up this is going to be numbers that nobody's ever seen before rising market will do oh it's gonna get a lot higher right now we have a completely free offer for you if you want to start investing if you want to join in on this economic boom of a lifetime click the link below or you can now take out your phone and you can open up your camera app and scan this QR code and it will pop up a link where you can download the app and it is totally free this I'm not selling you on anything at all this is just an app that I personally use so you can scan that or click the link below to start investing it's very beginner friendly you can start with $5 you can even start with $1 so get signed up in a couple minutes your future self will thank you
